This was one of a series of short films shown at a special venue that seemed to all be pilots for projected TV series.
About 1/2 hour long, not much of a story here, this one is about a real woman, Poppy of course, who looks and speaks like an animated doll.
The story line of I’m Poppy, such as it is, is about her plans to become, after recent fabulous You Tube internet success and popularity, the most famous TV star in the world.
So we join internet sensation Poppy as she enters the real world for the very first time to audition for TV and quickly realizes that fame and fortune come at a price, with secret societies, dangerous fanatics, and a very envious mannequin named Charlotte.
Charlotte looks a lot like Poppy except she has dark hair (soon died white blonde like Poppy’s!

The internet is a weird place, and it doesn't get any less weird once you experience Poppy. For those out of the loop, Poppy is a surrealist performance artist who acts like an Android...basically. Here's an example of one of her more popular videos:
Yes Poppy, fame is funny. Funny enough anyway that YouTube Red is giving this quazi celebrity her own series, which actually doesn't look half bad. Check out the trailer for I'm Poppy below, which also features actors like Samm Levine, Dan Hildebrand, and more. Provided the pilot airing goes well at the Sundance Film Festival tomorrow, the full episode should be up on YouTube Red Thursday according to Variety. ...

At the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, TV is invading the schedule in a whole new way. The Park City film fest has previously dabbled in what’s possible on the small screen, but this year marks the launch of the Indie Episodics section — which will spotlight TV pilots that mostly lack mainstream distribution.
The selections include “America to Me,” a new docu-series by “Hoop Dreams” director Steve James; as well as “The Mortified Guide,” a screen adaptation of the popular stage show “Mortified,” spotlighting the most embarrassing true stories of adolescence. There’s also “This Close,” showcasing star/creators Josh Feldman and Shoshannah Stern (both of whom are deaf), and “Franchesca,” featuring digital star and “The Nightly Show” writer/contributor Franchesca Ramsey.
This marks a major change for Sundance, and a renewed commitment to independent television. While Sundance has featured TV programming since the premiere of “Top of the Lake” in...

Emilia Clarke is still on fire in Season Three of HBO's "Games of Thrones." We're feeling a little prescient this week after noting, last week, how commanding Clarke has been in the sequences set in the Slaver's Bay city of Astapor, where her character, Daenerys Targaryen, is negotiating with the vile and condescending slave breeder Kraznys mo Nakloz (Dan Hildebrand) for an army of The Unsullied, identical-looking eunuch warriors, stretching in helmeted rows to the horizon, rigorously bred and trained until every trait but unflinching obedience has been burned away. Various other storylines are moving forward in good order in this episode (Spoiler Alert): Jamie is dealing somewhat less than manfully with his case of ghost limb syndrome. "I was that hand," he says, confirming our sense that the Kingslayer is facing a monumental existential crisis.Dianna Rigg's Olenna Redwyne, the matriarch of House Tyrell, her head full of...

The following pics come courtesy of Mohamed Amine Lakaab from Essaouira, Morocco (doubling as "Slaver's Bay"), and they not only give us a look at Iain Glen and Emilia Clarke's new clobber as Daenerys Targaryen and Ser Jorah Mormont, but a few previously unseen supporting characters too. Immediately below the pic of the golden-armored Ser Meryn Trant, we have our first look at Kraznys, played by Dan Hildebrand.
