ABC has named its newest star of “The Bachelor” franchise. Zach Shallcross, who didn’t find love with either Gabby Windey or Rachel Recchia, will take on the role for Season 27.
Shallcross was primarily dating Recchia, though the two didn’t work out earlier in the season.
The new “Bachelor” is a 26-year-old tech executive from Anaheim Hills, Calif. He splits his time between Texas and Orange County.
Per ABC: “A family man at heart, Shallcross splits time between Texas and Orange County. His parents, who have been married over 30 years, have shown him what true love looks like. He strives to find a love that echoes the standard they have set for him, and he plans to keep them in mind when looking for a life partner. Home is where the heart is; and with the Bachelor mansion not too far away, Shallcross is eager to begin his journey back home in Southern California.

It’s official: Zach Shallcross will be the next star of “The Bachelor,” which heads into its 27th season in 2023.
Shallcross — who Variety previously reported would be ABC’s next leading man — was a contestant from the current season of “The Bachelorette,” which wraps up its season tonight. “The Bachelor” announcement was made Tuesday night during the live finale by host Jesse Palmer.
This season of “The Bachelorette” made history, starring two women for the first time: Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia. Shallcross was a finalist, having dated “Bachelorette” star Recchia as one of the most promising suitors of the season. But after a heartbreaking and surprising breakup on the show, Shallcross’ journey became one of the most dramatic storylines towards the end of the season.
Now, Shallcross will get a second chance at finding televised love. His season of “The Bachelor” will premiere Jan. 23, 2023 on ABC.

Judge Steve Harvey is getting a second season at ABC as the network also renews Bachelor in Paradise.
The network made the renewals as part of a slew of unscripted news including new specials and game shows.
Courtroom comedy Judge Steve Harvey premiered strongly in January with a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demo and 4.92 million viewers. Throughout its freshman run, which has been interrupted by The Bachelor and Jeopardy! National College Championship, Judge Steve Harvey has been a decent performer for ABC. In the series, Harvey takes on a variety of conflicts and characters in his courtroom – from small claims to big disputes and everything in between. Harvey plays by his own rules, basing his courtroom on his own life experiences and some good old common sense.

ABC is entering the 2021-22 TV season as only one of two broadcast networks with live-action comedies on the fall schedule. The Disney-owned network has high hopes for the latest addition to its family comedy brand, a reboot of The Wonder Years, which joins The Goldbergs, The Conners and Home Economics in ABC’s signature Wednesday comedy block.
The network is also premiering the hip-hop drama Queens, which will airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. after the latest cycle of The Bachelorette.
For Craig Erwich, President, ABC Entertainment and Hulu Originals, this marks the first broadcast schedule and fall launch he has worked on since he left the No. 2 programming executive post at Fox 14 years ago. He added oversight of ABC Entertainment in December to his job running content for Hulu as part of a major restructure at Disney, which saw Karey Burke become president of 20th Television.

The Bachelor franchise alums Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe are extending their turn as hosts on The Bachelorette.
The duo, who are hosting Season 17 of The Bachelorette, will return to host the upcoming 18th season, ABC and franchise producer Warner Bros. Unscripted Television confirmed Monday. Season 18, which will star Bachelor Nation favorite Michelle Young, will premiere on October 19. The current season featuring Katie Thurston wraps on August 9.
Adams and Bristowe replace longtime host Chris Harrison, who departed the romance franchise after 19 years for good in June amidst a controversy about his comments on race. For the first time in the history of the franchise, The Bachelorette will produce two cycles in the same calendar year. The summer staple has been renewed by ABC for Seasons 17 and 18 to air in 2021. They will be headlined by two Bachelor Nation Nation favorites, Katie Thurston and Michelle Young, who both had been heavily speculated to be the next Bachelorette after becoming breakouts of the just concluded, marked by controversy 25th season of The Bachelor.
The Bachelorette Season 17 starring Thurston will go first, premiering in Summer 2021; the show’s 18th season toplined by Young will air in fall 2021. The Bachelorette is successfully in can ahead of its October 13 premiere as ABC gets ready to start production on its parent show The Bachelor later this month.
Rob Mills, SVP, Alternative Series, Specials & Late-Night Programming, ABC Entertainment, told Deadline that The Bachelor will start production at the end of September with a view to airing in January as per previous years.
While the show will run on a similar timeline to previous seasons – the last 12 seasons of the show began airing at the start of the new year, production will be in a pandemic-proof bubble, similar to The Bachelorette, to ensure that one of its biggest non-scripted series can get on the air.
Mills said he was buoyed by the fact that The Bachelorette, which wrapped on September 1, was able to finish production without any Covid-19 related incidents.

It looks like we are up for another first in The Bachelor franchise — a season that starts with one titular star and ends with another.
Speculation has been growing that Clare Crawley, who had been tapped to headline The Bachelorette‘s upcoming 16th season, has left the show, which has been filming in a quarantine bubble at an isolated location under Covid-19 guidelines. No one is commenting, but I hear that Crawley’s exit will be incorporated into the season’s storyline as she reportedly fell in love with one of the contestants and did not want to continue with the dating process, leading the other bachelors on.
Multiple reports have tipped Bachelor nation fan favorite Tayshia Adams as Crawley’s successor. She reportedly has joined the production after undergoing quarantine. Word is that some of the contestants previously eliminated by Crawley are coming back to vie for Adams’ heart.

ABC has chosen its first black romantic lead for The Bachelor, picking Matt James to head the 2021 version of the reality dating franchise.
James was set to be a prospective suitor for The Bachelorette before that show was hit by the production shutdown. He becomes the first black Bachelor in the show’s 18 year history, and the second only black lead in the franchise, following Rachel Lindsay, who was The Bachelorette in that show’s 13th season.
ABC revealed the news on Good Morning America. It comes after Lindsay urged the franchise to “acknowledge their systemic racism” in a blog post and more than 80,000 people signed a Change.org petition to cast a black lead on The Bachelor.
The 25th season of the Chris Harrison-hosted show is scheduled to air in 2021. The network has not revealed plans for the upcoming season of The Bachelorette, but ABC alternative boss Rob Mills...

Have you ever thought to yourself, "I wish someone would combine The Voice and The Bachelor and make into one bizarre competition series?" Well, apparently someone did, because that's exactly what ABC's forthcoming reality dating show The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart sounds like. In the series, 20 single men and women (all of whom are musicians or people who work in music) will live together and go on music-themed dates together. Once participants find someone they connect with, the new couple will be tested through musical challenges, such as live performances in front of some of the biggest names in music. As ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke said, "Think The Bachelor in Paradise meets A Star Is Born." So basically, the couples will be judged based on whether they have Lady-Gaga-and-Bradley-Cooper-level chemistry on stage.

It’s official. Fox has canceled its Love Connection reboot after two seasons, Deadline has confirmed.
Host Andy Cohen announced the cancellation Wednesday morning during an interview on Howard Stern’s satellite radio show.
The cancellation of the dating show revival is not a surprise. The series was not a strong ratings performer. It averaged a 0.5 rating and 1.6 million viewers in Live+Same Day viewing in its second season.
While the series is not returning, we hear Fox would love to work with Cohen again and is looking forward to the next project with him.
The Love Connection revival sent hopeful singles on three dates in order to ditch the apps and find true love. Each hour of the show featured single men and/or women in search of romance. They told Cohen exactly what they were looking for in a partner and why they’d found it so hard to meet Mr.

Photos: Bachelor Pad 3.02's Olympic-esque Challenge
The premiere set the stage for the Bachelor Pad super fans going toe to toe and chin to chin against the veterans, but will things get a little more cozy tonight? That's the rumor! After trading some barbs last week, it looks like love might be in the air on tonight's episode of Bachelor Pad. As for the challenge, Rhythmic Gymnastics, it seems like the ladies will have a fall from grace, while the men come up empty in that department. 3-on-1 Dates will rock, literally, and at least one surprising hook-up will take place. Click the arrows for a look at tonight's episode.
"Episode 302" - After an edgy season premiere pitting the Super Fans against the alumni from the "Bachelor" franchise, love takes center stage on "Bachelor Pad," Monday, July 30 (8:00-10:01 p.m., Et) on the ABC Television Network. In the second challenge,...

ABC announced their summer offering schedule, though the big kick is coming as early May 14th with The Bachelorette. New and returning shows are likely to get a fair amount of marketing love, as summer programming, especially with the influx of cable hotlist shows, has taken off over the last few years.
Rookie Blue looks fairly interesting, and Secret Millionaire did pretty well before, so we’ve got that at least. Keep a close eye on Trust Us With Your Life, and mark your calendars. The odd spin on improv comedy could be hilarious.
Check out the rundown below.
Thursday, May 24:
8:00-10:00 p.m. “Duets” (series premiere) 10:00-11:00 p.m. “Rookie Blue”
Sunday, June 3:
8:00-9:00 p.m. “Secret Millionaire” 9:00-11:00 p.m. “Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition“
Thursday, June 28:
9:00-10:00 p.m. “Wipeout”
Tuesday, July 10:
9:00-10:00 p.

NBC and Fox have both unleashed their Fall 2011-2012 TV schedule, now ABC has released theirs. I’m excited to see Castle, Modern Family, and The Middle back in the mix. Most of the new shows they have line-up don’t really interest me, but there are a few that have caught my eye. PanAm is another 1960’s based TV show that will go against AMC’s Mad Men and NBC’s The Playboy Club. There’s a show called Revenge that sounds really interesting, but the new series I’m most excited about is is the fantasy series Once Upon A Time, a show where fairy tales collide with the modern day.
Here is ABC’s full schedule along with a description of all of their shows. Go through them below and let us know what TV series you’re most excited about seeing.

ABC has announced the original programming it will be featuring during the summer of 2011. If you're a fan of reality TV, you're in luck, because the alphabet has new episodes of Wipeout, Bachelor Pad, and The Bachelorette coming down the pipeline, as well as a new show about karaoke, two Amazing Race-ish challenge shows, a new Extreme Makeover spinoff, and a game show built around people exiting a game show. Joining the mostly unscripted line-up, which can be found on Tuesdays and Thursdays, will be the second season of Rookie Blue and military hospital drama The Hot Zone.
There is no word yet on what reruns ABC will be airing or what canceled shows they'll be burning off, but until then, you can check out the press release below that gives detailed descriptions of each show as well as premiere dates/times.
What will you be watching this summer on ABC?...

Perhaps nobody knows the innerworkings of The Bachelor better than Chris Harrison. Sure the producers knowthe nuts and bolts of how to put the show together, but it is the affable hostwho crouches beside the lovelorn in the trenches, rooting for them to findlove. In a recent conference call interview, we spoke with Chris aboutBachelorette emotions, over the top dates and the modern day soap opera.
Harrison related that it’s thepurity of the concept that allows the show to consistently deliver high drama. He acknowledged, “You have to give that credit to Mike Fleiss, the creator ofthe show and Martin Hilton, the executive producer now for creating whatthey’ve created. And that is, [that] this obviously is this environment and itsformat that works. Every year, season in and season out, it just works. And Ithink the fact that it's not a game show. There is...
