Norman Reedus rides down a volcano in Hawaii in fierce cross-winds on this week’s episode of Ride with Norman Reedus — in an experience which he jokes left him “screaming like a girl”. The Walking Dead star said the scene, filmed as he and photographer Patrick Hoelck traveled across the Big Island, felt like a “near-death experience”. It saw the pair struggling to ride as they explored one of the island’s most scenic roads, with winds blasting them from the side. At one point the duo tried to use the van that was being used to film them as shelter...read more...

Ice Cube and Forever 21 are not only a totally unexpected pairing, it's an illegal one -- according to the guy who says the retail giant ripped off his pic of the rapper to make a buck. The t-shirts in question show Cube's snarling face slapped on a mocked up Oakland Raiders logo. Perfect for that 20-something chick who's just dying to rep old school rap and the silver and black ... right? Patrick Hoelck says not so fast.

Scott Caan has kind of a blocky build, brawny even - barrel-chested, short-waisted. He also has a perhaps-genetically infused look of cockiness that gives him the air of the punk, even when he's guarded about his body language. He's played more than his share of thugs and wiseacres - but he casts himself as a likable Lothario who gets ambushed by love in Mercy, a drama he wrote and stars in, opening in limited release Friday (4/30/10) after a 4/28/10 video-on-demand release. Directed by Patrick Hoelck, Mercy features Caan as Johnny Ryan, a smart, attractive author of the kind of romances that wind up on the best-seller list. A cynic about love with no interest in commitment or intimacy, Johnny almost instantly meets his match in Mercy (Wendy Glenn), whose negative review provided the only sour note in a chorus of critical...

The 15th Annual Gen Art Film Festival comes to a close tonight with the premiere of Mercy, directed by Patrick Hoelck and starring Scott Caan (who also wrote the script), and though the film is apparently sold out, I believe there's still room for you to slide in to the after party over at New York City's famed Blvd nightclub (check the official Gen Art site for more details). For those who missed it, this year's festival was a blast -- the films played great, the weather was fantastic and the after parties went all night. Raise your hand if you made it out for at least one of the nights. What did you see? Did you like it? Did you enjoy your festival experience?
My favorite film of the festival, I think, has to be Adrian Grenier's Teenage Paparazzo. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this...

Chicago – The Gen Art Film Festival here had red carpet events last week for two movie premieres, “(500) Days of Summer” with star Joseph Gordon-Levitt and director Marc Webb, plus “Mercy” with star and writer Scott Caan.
HollywoodChicago.com was there for both events and scored some Q&A with the principle architects of both films.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Lead Actor, “(500) Days of Summer”
The child actor favorite of “Third Rock from the Sun” is all grown up and is making a splash in the independent and now mainstream film world. Following stellar performances in “Brick” (2005) and “The Lookout” (2007), Gordon-Levitt is excellent in his latest, a relationship comedy directed by Marc Webb. Look also for G-l in this summer’s “G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra”.

"Saint John" also stars Sarah Silverman, Romany Malco, Peter Dinklage, Tim Blake Nelson, John Cho and Emmanuelle Chriqui.
