Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Brown, the unstoppable running back who retired at the peak of his brilliant career to become an actor as well as a prominent civil rights advocate during the 1960s, has died. He was 87.
A spokeswoman for Brown’s family said he passed away peacefully in his Los Angeles home on Thursday night with his wife, Monique, by his side.
One of the greatest players in football history and one of the game’s first superstars, Brown was chosen the NFL’s Most Valuable Player in 1965 and shattered the league’s record books in a short career spanning 1957-65.

In more non horror news, Espn has reported that the Cleveland Browns have fired their head coach Eric Mangini. The Browns had a terrible season this year, missing the playoffs by a long shot.
It has not been made public at this time who will replace Mangini as head coach, though some people think than Mike Holmgren will take the reigns and lead the team.
Holmgren said he is looking for someone who "can eventually someday lead us to the championship. That is my only goal."...

Jim Mora gets fired by the Seattle Seahawks after one season. According to the New York Times, the Seattle Seahawks fired coach Jim Mora after just one injury-filled season. Jim Mora was designated as Mike Holmgren's successor well before he stepped down after the 2008 season. Jim Mora is the third coach to get fired in the NFL this season. The Seahawks are reportedly interviewing general manager candidates. The Seattle Times reported that the decision to fire Jim Mora came directly from Paul Allen who is the owner of the team. The Seattle Seahawks finished this season with a 5-11 record, which was a game better than their 2008 record, but they finished this season with four consecutive losses, and lost by a combined score of 123-37,making them very uncompetitive. It looks as though the many injuries they had,may have had a lot to do with it.
