Tobias Lindholm, director of 2016 Oscar nominee A War, is set to write and helm crime series The Investigation. Based on the probe into the murder of Swedish journalist Kim Wall, the drama is being developed by Miso Film, Denmark’s TV2 and TV4 and Sweden’s C More.
The six-part series centers on the Copenhagen Police and its Head of Homicide, Jens Møller’s investigation and follows the methodical, unusual and technical work that enabled them to solve Wall’s murder. The case has been in the headlines this year after entrepreneur Peter Madsen was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in April, following a widely publicized trial.

Swedish production company Sonet Film has launched a new division, Sonet Television, to produce TV drama series based on work from best-selling Scandinavian crime writers. Sonet Film CEO Peter Possne will run the new company together with producer Rickard Petrelius. Sonet said it had several series projects already in development with best-selling writers including Hakan Nesser, Kerstin Ekman, Henning Mankell, Lars Kepler, Anne Holt and Leif G. W. Persson. Anne Holt's Hanne Wilhelmsen book series is to be adapted for television. The franchise - consisting of eight novels so far - follows the investigations of Wilhelmsen, a lesbian police officer. Graham King TV will produce the adaptation, which has not yet been shopped to networks, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Graham King TV is getting into business with one of Norway’s best-selling crime writers. King’s TV shingle, which is developing Port Royal at FX, Dreamland at Lifetime and Hurt People at Cinemax, has closed a deal to develop Anne Holt’s Hanne Wilhelmsen series, which includes eight novels. The detective drama project has not yet been shopped to networks. Scandinavian noir has been a fertile ground for adaptation coming off of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Holt, who has sold upward of 6 million copies around the world, will serve as an executive producer, alongside producer Anne Thomopoulos (Rome, Generation Kill)
