Nicholas Hope is a British-Australian actor who is known for playing Bubby from Bad Boy Bubby and Old Man Smithers in the 2002 Raja Gosnell/James Gunn film Scooby-Doo. He also acted in Ash vs Evil Dead, a deleted scene of Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid, The Daughter and Picnic at Hanging Rock.
Also a writer, his debut book "Brushing the Tip of Fame" was published
in 2004.
Since visiting the film festival in Tromsø, Norway in 1994, where he
became romantically involved (since separated) he has lived and worked
in Norway, Australia, the UK, and for a short time the USA. He speaks
Norwegian, but prefers English.
Spends his time between Australia and Europe
Starred as "Elling" in a Sydney version of the successful Norwegian
play by the same name.
I wish I was in a position to spend a whole year in Northern-Norway. To
me, growing up in Australia, this is so exotic, so wild and extreme.
And it's friendly here. Northern-Norway is an exciting mix, a cross
between the images I've seen from rural America and Eastern-Europe.
