Anne Heche had a trace amount of cocaine — but no alcohol — in her system when she piloted her blue Mini Cooper into a Los Angeles house last August, sparking the fire that would ultimately kill her, coroner officials confirmed Tuesday.

The woman in the home into which Anne Heche fatally drove her car is suing the late actress’ estate for 2 million.
Heche drove her car into a Mar Vista home in Los Angeles on August 5. The car caught fire and “heavily damaged” the house, according to Los Angeles Fire Department representative Brian Humphrey. Heche later died August 12 after being taken off of life support while in a coma.
Now, Lynne Mishele is suing the Heche estate. Michele, who was renting the Mar Vista home at the time of the crash, is seeking “at least 2 million” in damages for negligence, infliction of emotional distress, and trespass. Mishele was renting the home from owners John and Jennifer Durand. The suit, as reported by People magazine, was filed in the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles County November 9.

A number of trees caught fire near the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday night, just as guests were exiting the evening’s program.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Brian Humphrey told The Hollywood Reporter that a fire was first reported shortly after 11 p.m. involving 10 trees at the location of Highland Avenue and the Hollywood Freeway, near the storied outdoor concert venue. Three fire companies were deployed and extinguished the blaze, with no injuries or damage to the Hollywood Bowl reported.
No cause of the fire has been determined, although Humphrey noted that there is an encampment for the unhoused near the location of the blaze. The fire was in view as guests walked out of the venue following Sing-a-Long Sound of Music, a popular annual screening of director Robert Wise’s 1965 musical that stars Julie Andrews and won the Oscar for best picture.

Nearly a week after a fiery car crash put her in the hospital, Anne Heche now is under investigation for felony DUI after drugs were found in her system, police confirmed today.
“Based on the blood work, it revealed the presence of narcotics,” Officer Lizeth Lomeli of the LAPD told Deadline on Wednesday.
Confirming that the Emmy-winning actress is facing a possible felony DUI charge, Lomeli added, “However, additional testing is required because we have to rule out any substances that were administered by medical treatment.”
Heche is in “extremely critical condition” as a result of her burns and pulmonary injuries from the August 5 incident. It does not look like she had alcohol in her system at the time of the crash. It is unclear right now if Heche was administered more medication on the way to the hospital or once she arrived there Friday.
