Set in the early 1960s, Vampire Dad tells the story of the titular dad, Dr. Raymond Walenski – a family man-turned-vampire by Victoria, queen of the underworld. Turned into a vampire not because of some accident, being caught in the woods late a night, or being out during a full mood. No, Raymond becomes a vampire by choice – not his choice though, it’s Victoria’s choice. You see the queen of the underworld has a problem and she needs a therapist for the creatures under her rule.
Of course being a vampire isn’t as cool as it sounds, especially not in the suburbs of 1960s, which leaves Raymond struggling to keep his vampiric nature under control while his devoted...

Raymond (Jackson Hurst) is a vampire. He's also a dad. He didn't mean to be a vampire, but was unexpectedly jumped by Victoria, Goddess of the Underworld (Sarah Palmer), who wanted to utilise his skills as a psychiatrist to comfort a host of unhappy monsters. Fortunately his wife Natasha (Emily O'Brien) and her brother Bob (Barak Hardley) have taken it well, but the situation makes it difficult for them to keep up appearances in their Sixties suburban home, and they're desperate not to let teenage daughter Susie (Grace Fulton) find out.

"There is something 'not right!'" Random Media has unveiled an official trailer for a wacky low-budget indie horror comedy titled Vampire Dad, marking the feature directorial debut of actress / filmmaker Frankie Ingrassia. This seems like one of those strange films lost in time, that somehow exists and is being released this year. Set in the early 60s, a family man-turned-vampire struggles with his beastly, bloody-thirsty nature while his devoted wife tries to keep anyone from finding out, including their teenage daughter. Starring Jackson Hurst as the "Vampire Dad", along with Emily O'Brien, Grace Fulton, Barak Hardley, Juli Cuccia, Barak Hardley, and Linda Nile. Not sure what to make of it. Fun? Cringe-worthy? Have a look. Here's the first official trailer (+ two posters) for Frankie Ingrassia's Vampire Dad, direct from YouTube: When psychologist Dr. Raymond Walenski (Jackson Hurst) is turned into a vampire, to act as therapist to the creatures of the underworld,...

The doctor is in, and he's working from home. Good news: it's not because of the pandemic that is currently sweeping the globe! In the upcoming retro-styled horror-comedy Vampire Dad, psychologist Dr. Raymond Walenski is turned into a vampire (and starts working from home) "in order to provide therapy to creatures of the underworld. He battles his new beastly nature while struggling to keep his family life from being torn apart." Ha! Chew on that for a moment. Emily O'Brien (The Young and the Restless) and Grace Fulton (Annabelle: Creation) also star. Frankie Ingrassia makes her feature directorial debut. She's been directing short films and episodic television. She's also an actress, mostly known for her supporting...

In this edition of Canon Of Film, we take a look back at Alexander Payne‘s dark comedy classic, ‘Election‘. For the story behind the genesis of the Canon, you can click here.
Election (1998)
Director: Alexander Payne
Screenplay: Alexander Payne & Jim Taylor based on the novel by Tom Perrotta
So, on Facebook, a few people, friends of mine, some of them were posting a meme that asked people to name three fictional characters that the poster reminds them of. I thought it was a fun little challenge, so I participated in a few of them, and something struck me. Maybe it was the people who were posting it, maybe I just need to be a little more selective with my choice of friends, but one surprising name kept popping into my head, Tracy Flick (Reese Witherspoon). On first glance, this doesn’t seem like a name that should pop up a lot,...

Director Frankie Ingrassia was promised actor Andy Dick would be clean and sober when he arrived on the set of her film “Vampire Dad” on Oct. 18 — and he was. However, she said that he didn’t stay that way for long. Dick was fired from the project on his first day of shooting over sexual harassment claims the cast and crew made against the actor, who Ingrassia said appeared to become intoxicated on set. “We were promised that he would be delivered sober,” Ingrassia told TheWrap. “He was sober upon arrival. As soon as we heard about the misconduct, I.

I can’t believe it came out this year, but Miguel Arteta‘s Youth In Revolt hit theaters the first weekend of January and it dissuaded the infamous January/February curse of terrible films. It remains one of my favorite comedies of the year, and although it grossed less than the other Michael Cera-starrer Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, it actually turned out to be more profitable.
After being mishandled by the Weinstein Company, Miguel Arteta‘s next film is in the hands of Fox Searchlight, with a better outlook. The film just landed a February 11th, 2011 date (via Ion Cinema) and will open limited next to four wide releases including The Eagle, Gnomeo and Juliet, Just Go With It, and Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. This date gives us hope the film could possibly see a debut at Sundance Film Festival. Their initial line-up gets announced next week.

Whether you caught on to AMC’s Mad Men in its first season, or the buzz is slowly drawing you into its third, most of us by now know of Sterling and Cooper’s gorgeous, red-headed office manager, Joan Holloway. Who we should be getting to know more, however, is Christina Hendricks, the woman who makes Joan our favorite, and apparently has become Mad Men’s gay icon.
In the November issue of the Advocate, Hendricks somehow manages to make herself even more drool-worthy. She’s witty, hilarious, loves the gays and “would love” for Joan to “explore bisexuality” at some point on the series, to which I say "please, please do."
In the interview, Advocate writer Brandon Voss declares that Joan is key in attracting a gay audience to the show, but the actress claims she has yet to feel the lesbian love:
I did get some really nice...
