- Son of Edgar Jepson.
- Worked for Special Operations Executive (SOE) during WWII, often giving potential agents their first interview (usually under the name Mr E. Potter)
- According to Fay Weldon's autobiography, "Auto da Fay", Selwyn Jepson is her uncle on her mother's side. Arriving in war-torn London after World War II, along with her mother, her sister and her grandmother from New Zealand he gave them a place to live for a time.
- His position with SOE during World War II was as the senior recruiting officer for Section F (France). He recruited Violette Szabo whom the film Carve Her Name With Pride is about.
