Daughter of renowned protozoologist/geneticist Victor Jollos and concert pianist Ilse Rappaport. She and her family fled Nazi persecution in the 1930s to the United States and settled in Wisconsin. She attended the University of Wisconsin.
She was also a civil rights activist and travel agent. For years she ran a boutique travel advisory firm for the performing arts.
