Exclusive: Elaine Bauer Brooks will be leaving her post as EVP, Development and MultiPlatform Content at CBS Media Ventures after nine years at the company.
Her departure follows that of CBS Media Ventures President Steve LoCascio who announced his retiring two weeks ago amid a corporate restructuring that saw the division become part of the portfolio of Wendy McMahon who was named President and CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures.
Bauer Brooks just announced her pending exit in an email to staff.
“This is a special place with one of the most creative and innovative teams in the business, so this was not an easy decision, but it is the right one for me,” she said, adding that McMahon had asked her to stay until the end of November to help with the transition, “and I am happy to do so.”

David McGuire, EVP of Programming & Development for Telepictures, subsidiary of Warner Bros. Television Group, is exiting after more than 30 years with the company.
McGuire’s departure is the result of restructuring following Mike Darnell’s departure as Warner Bros. Unscripted Television President.
In his current position, McGuire oversaw all aspects of creative affairs for first-run syndicated series, unscripted series, and digital content developed and produced by Telepictures.
Credited as one of the key architects behind The Ellen DeGeneres Show, McGuire most recently oversaw the launch of The Jennifer Hudson Show. The People’s Choice– and Daytime Emmy–nominated series ranked as the #1 new first-run strip of the 2022–23 season in average weekly reach.
McGuire also forged key partnerships with advertisers for Telepictures’ integration business.
Together with DeGeneres, McGuire helped build The Ellen DeGeneres Show into an Emmy-winning afternoon staple and global brand by combining the strength of traditional media with the emerging power of digital platforms.

Based on Henry Fielding’s “The History of Tom Jones, A Foundling,” the 2023 periodical romance drama Tom Jones portrays the charming and impulsive foundling Tom Jones, whose string of bad choices inexorably caused him to grow distant from Sophia Western, whom he genuinely loved. Despite knowing that Tom is a womanizer who sleeps with every other woman he meets, Sophia waits for him to return to her. This is a narrative that perpetuates the cliche of two lovebird characters being meant for each other despite their terrible decision-making and difficult conduct. Tom Jones, a PBS production, did not bring any novelty to the narrative, instead just decorating it with a romantic Disney atmosphere and depicting the socioeconomic disparities of 18th-century England.
Spoilers Ahead
What Happens In ‘Tom Jones’ Season 1?
The narrative of the story opens with Sophia describing Squire Allworthy, the richest man in the community, who one day found a baby in his bedroom.

Jennifer Hudson on Her New Talk Show, Egot Status, Being Inspired by Whoopi Goldberg and Tamron Hall
Jennifer Hudson didn’t win “American Idol” 18 years ago — she came in seventh place. But it didn’t matter: She was soon destined for a tremendous, award-winning career. The superstar became the first and only “Idol” alum to win an acting Oscar, nabbing the best supporting actress trophy in 2007 for her stellar turn in “Dreamgirls.” Fast-forward to 2022 and Hudson is now an Egot, having also won a Tony Award, Grammy and Daytime Emmy along the way. Now, she’s adding another credit to her lengthy resume: talk show host.
Hudson will debut “The Jennifer Hudson Show” on Sept. 12, which also happens to be the star’s birthday. But why a talk show?
“I come from a very talkative family. Oh my God, we love talking,” Hudson tells Variety. “I’ve been so blessed to do so many things in my career…I want to help someone else have a platform.

Another high-profile daytime syndicated talk show, Warner Bros Unscripted Television/Telepictures’ The Real, is ending its run. The program’s current eighth season will be its last after the show’s core station group, the Fox Stations, opted not to renew it for next season.
TV Cancellations Photo Gallery: Shows Ending In 2022 & Beyond
This decision is not believed to be tied to Fox Stations’ recent pickup of Warners/Telepictures’ new daytime syndicated talker The Jennifer Hudson Show, which is expected to air on the main Fox stations, while The Real was carried primarily by its duopoly outlets.
The Fox Stations is yet to announce a time slot for Jennifer Hudson; the expectation is that it would be paired — at least in some top markets — with Sherri, the new talker that will succeed veteran The Wendy Williams Show the way the station group did with Wendy and The Nick Cannon Show this season.

Early on in the new Peacock series “Ex-Rated,” host Andy Cohen does something somewhat unusual, for him: He gives a little bit of himself. Speaking to a guest who is currently pregnant as a surrogate parent, he says, “Surrogates are very special to me, and I think they’re just God’s children,” he says, adding that his own son was born via surrogate.
It’s a small moment, landing somewhat blandly — “Awesome! Love it, okay!,” his conversation partner says — but it still feels unusual. Sure, Cohen has a sort of relentless frankness on camera, but it tends to be directed outwards: On his talk show, “Watch What Happens Live,” and on reunions for “The Real Housewives,” he’s willing to help his interview subjects go anywhere, obtaining revelations he’s not shy about judging in the moment. But as chaos erupts around him, Cohen maintains a certain guardedness that...

There's little doubt that courtroom drama has become a matter of public intrigue in recent history - look no further than the cases surrounding O.J. Simpson and the Menendez brothers. Running from 1991 to 2003, The Jenny Jones Show would become synonymous with a 1995 murder case that was triggered by an episode taping. Trial by Media, Netflix's latest true-crime project, takes a deep dive into the media frenzy that surrounded the trial. In the years following the murder, The Jenny Jones Show was put under fire for the ethics of its production tactics. But where is Jenny Jones, the driving personality behind the show, today? Jones is no longer in the entertainment industry, but she's still very much an influencer and maintains an active social media presence.
Before we get to where Jones is, let's rewind to 1995. The Jenny Jones Show, a daytime tabloid talk show, produced a segment on secret crushes.

By its very nature, science is supposed to be an impartial judge. But is it really? In her thought-provoking documentary “Coded Bias,” director Shalini Kantayya questions the neutrality of technology, arguing that computers have a built-in bias that reflects the faulty assumptions of the people (usually men) who program them. Her emphasis is on the impact that such bias has on marginalized communities via corporate business and law enforcement.
The film was sparked by the work of Joy Buolamwini, a PhD student at MIT who conducted facial recognition experiments using A.I. and had difficulty getting the technology to accurately process her face. Investigating further, she discovered that these programs struggle to register women more than men. Delving into the root causes of these problems, ”Coded Bias” serves as both a wake-up call (to invasive practices the public doesn’t yet realize are being implemented) and a call to action.

Yorkshire native Tony Richardson, lauded for a string of melodramas set in grayer than gray factory towns, took an abrupt left turn with Tom Jones, an 18th century period piece steeped in the vibrant New Wave sensibilities of the 60’s. Starring Albert Finney as the randy hero, Richardson’s sunny holiday is as far from the mills of Derbyshire as Buckingham Palace.
Based on Henry Fielding’s mock epic, Richardson and co-writer John Osborne took a Cliff’s Notes approach to Fielding’s picaresque narrative, whittling Tom’s journey down to a two hour jaunt set in motion by Irish actor Micheál Mac Liammóir’s wry narration.

As campaign managers for Sarah Palin plot last-minute tactics to get her elected, Hollywood bigwigs are convening strategy sessions of their own. Their goal: finding the ideal on-air vehicle for the vp candidate if and when she exits politics.
Love her or hate her -- there doesn't seem to be much middle ground with Palin -- the 44-year-old hockey mom has captured the public imagination in a way no politician has since, well, Barack Obama.
But as more and more polls cast doubt on the McCain-Palin ticket, producers and agents across the entertainment world are discussing possibilities for capitalizing on her fame, ranging from an Oprah-style syndicated talk show to a Sean Hannity-like perch in cable news or on radio.
