The Ring and Mulholland Drive producer Neal Edelstein is serving as the executive producer on Ashes, an Australian supernatural thriller/horror film about three generations of women who battle a curse.
Jonathan auf der Heide is attached to direct the film written by Mike Jones and produced by Damsel Pictures. Raquelle David.
As a first-time feature producer, David knew she had to enlist an experienced Ep to qualify for financial support from Screen Australia and Screen Nsw. She approached a lot of Australian EPs, who turned her down, evidently due to concerns about the genre.

Tottenham Hotspur blew a great opportunity to extend their lead over Arsenal and consolidate their third place position in the Premier League in a forgettable match at White Hart Lane.
Spurs started brightly with man of the moment Gareth Bale back in the side and the Welshman immediately looked lively, getting in on the action from the off.
A couple of early corners were awarded to spurs as they pressured Fulham and it was Bale’s header from Gylfi Sigurdsson’s in-swinger that was cleared off the line – the first real chance of the match in the 6th minute.
A quiet spell ensued, as the match became somewhat disjointed, in which neither team seriously threatened for some time, but it was a spell in which Fulham did seem to grow a little in confidence.

I believe it was the writer W. G. Sebald who said: "Men and animals regard one another across a gulf of mutual incomprehension." No animal seems to comprehend us better than the dog. For that matter, I comprehend them more than any other. Like the Nicolas Cage character in Herzog's "Bad Lieutenant," I have no idea what an iguana is thinking. Does an iguana?
Growing up on the books by Albert Payson Terhune, I developed an early love for dogs. It didn't bother me that one bit me on the cheek at Mrs. Meadrow's Play School. It was my fault. I'd tried to ride her like a horse.
This dog weighs more than the boy. At this point it has more life wisdom. It's pretending to be led. The boy considers the puddle, stoops, and carefully puts down the leash. As they first approach the puddle, the dog lists slightly to starboard,...

Newcastle United stopped the rot last night with a comfortable 3-0 win over 10 man Wigan Athletic at St James’ Park. Demba Ba delivered a brace, whilst Gael Bigiramana allayed any doubt with a 20-yard stunner 5 minutes from time.
Wigan were reduced to 10 men with a harsh penalty decision in 13th minute which saw Maynor Figueroa use his strength too excessively in the box and promptly receive his marching orders from referee Mike Jones. Ba converted from the spot. Before Wigan manager Roberto Martinez could react Davide Santon had cut inside following a strong run down the left wing and fired a stinging shot which Ali Al-Habsi palmed into Demba Ba’s path who cooly slotted homet. Although the Latic’s started the 2nd half strongly, it was a relatively comfortable 3 points for United with the away team failing to manufacture any clear-cut chances.

Rebekah Horne, the chief digital officer of dmg Radio Australia, has emerged as the founding CEO at Google-backed venture TopFloor, a social e-commerce platform that enables commerce across social networks for people with a large following.
Mumbrella reported in August that Horne had moved to the Us to work on a start-up, but will continue to act as a strategic adviser to dmg Radio – and may return to Australia to continue in the role early next year.
A memo from TopFloor’s co-founders Mike Jones – with whom Horne worked when she was running MySpace’s international arm – and Brian Lee, reads:
To date, experiments typically haven’t fared well because most have been little more than traditional e-commerce tactics shoehorned into social platforms. Affiliate links and Web stores built in Facebook application tabs are just two examples. That’s about to change.

Henry Selick has halted his discussions with Laika to finance his stop-motion feature, which was recently shut down by Disney. Newly appointed Disney chairman Alan Horn opted to take a $50-million write-off, reportedly because the tone was too dark and the production was moving too slowly. Given that Laika and Selick parted ways after the successful "Coraline," a friendly reunion might have been a long shot. Both might have benefited, though. Selick might still have been able to work out of his fledgling Cinderbiter studio in San Francisco. And Laika would have had a new satellite studio to complement its campus in Portland, Oregon. Selick's "Coraline" did far better with both reviewers and audiences than Laika's recent second release, "ParaNorman." Selick not only has Pixar to thank for setting him up at Cinderbiter, but also for providing story notes from the vaunted brain trust (from screenwriter Mike Jones to Brad Bird...

Get the tissues now. Seriously. Two-year-old golden retriever Tanner ended up at the Woodland West Animal Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma after two homes failed to keep him. He's blind and suffers from terrible seizures. There were times that the doctors at the hospital thought he needed to be put down.
Just in the nick of time, Blair entered his life. Blair is a one-year-old stray pup that had been shot and was suffering from anxiety. She changed Tanner's life completely. The connection was immediate," the hospital's Dr. Mike Jones tells People. "It probably did take us a few weeks to kind of go, 'You know what? Tanner's not seizing anymore and Blair is getting [less skittish].'"
Tanner is lead around by Blair, who carries his leash in her mouth. It seems they've saved each other. Adoption requests are coming in, but Jones says, "This is a relationship that's going to be ten plus years,...

Chelsea scored deep into stoppage time to defeat Wigan to move back into 5th in the Premier League.
Chelsea’s opening goal was controversial, with Ivanovic seemingly yards offside. Referee Mike Jones and his assistant ruled the goal should stand, however, sparking mass protest from all 11 Wigan players and the bench.
Wigan rallied and scored a deserved equaliser through substitute Mohamed Diame into the bottom left corner of Petr Cech’s goal.
Salomon Kalou was introduced for the poor Daniel Sturrirdge, who moments earlier had been booed by home fans after falling to play the ball back for his waiting team mates, instead choosing to shoot on goal from a difficult angle.
With 92 minutes on the clock, Wigan must have thought they had done enough to earn a point at Stamford Bridge, but Juan Mata had different ideas, following in after Fernando Torres’ effort struck the post.

Chelsea put in another strong performance to overcome Everton at Stamford Bridge, as they ran out 3-1 winners. The Blues were efficient with possession – rather than throw wave after wave of attacks at the Toffees their moves were precise and effective. Goals from Daniel Sturridge, John Terry and Ramires helped Andre Villas-Boas’ team to victory. Apostolos Vellios got a consolation for the visitors who were second best for most of the game.
Everton are usually something of a bogey team for Chelsea, the last time the Blues managed to beat the resilient Toffees was the Fa Cup final back in 2009, and David Moyes’ side took four points from the two league meetings between the two last season.
But Andre Villas-Boas has been biding his time, waiting for the Manchester clubs to slip up. With United dropping two points earlier in the day against Liverpool the Blues could move within a point of the Red Devils.

I've been on Twitter for about two years. It's a part of my life. A small part, but a nice diversion for someone who publicly claimed, "I will never be a twit!"
My purpose today is not to issue generalizations about Twitter, or to persuade you to take part. You may well have better ways to spend your time. What I want to do is make some observations about successful tweeting.
I feel I'm qualified, since I currently have 532,782 followers, and that's not bad for an ordinary mortal not named Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber. I don't claim you will have my success. Let's face it; I have the advantage of being, for my sins, a celebrity. But if you offer good value for time, people will retweet you, and gradually you will build up a readership.
I give you as an example my friend of many years, Margo Howard.

Goals from Luka Modric, Jermaine Defoe and two from Emmanuel Adebayor helped Tottenham to an easy win over Liverpool after the Reds found themselves down to nine men for the last half hour. It was billed as an exciting, even game but Spurs took Dalglish’s men by storm and the misery was compounded with the dismissals of Charlie Adam in the first half and Martin Skrtel in the second. Brad Friedel didn’t have a save to make for the hosts as Redknapp’s men ran riot, peppering Reina’s goal with shots throughout, the 4-0 scoreline didn’t flatter them.

All eyes were on exciting new Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero as Bolton Wanderers hosted a fine display of attacking football from both sides at the Reebok Stadium. It was David Silva who stole the show though, as he, Edin Dzeko and Gareth Barry fired City to victory. Ivan Klasnic and Kevin Davies both scored for Bolton, but their efforts were ultimately in vain.
Manchester City’s travelling support made the short journey to the Reebok Stadium no doubt hoping to see Aguero re-create some of the magic he displayed against Swansea on Monday. He started on the left side of an impressive three-pronged attack that also included Edin Dzeko and David Silva. A foot injury to Nigel De Jong meant a start for Gareth Barry in the centre of midfield.

This year might be the point where studio reliance on tentpole films finally got out of hand. We've seen Sony schedule a date for the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man -- that's a sequel to a film that isn't even close to finished, and which, consequently, no one has seen. And now Lionsgate has staked out a spot for Catching Fire, the sequel to The Hunger Games, which also hasn't finished shooting and won't be seen by audiences for another seven months. That info, as well as dates for the thriller Parker and Henry Selick's new animated effort, are all below. Lionsgate announced Catching Fire for November 22, 2013. That's over a year after the release of The Hunger Games, which arrives on March 23, 2012. So the sequel isn't going to be rushed out, which is probably a good thing. That's presuming that the first does well enough that the sequel is...

After much speculation, MySpace is sold--apparently Justin Timberlake teamed up with Specific Media for the $35M purchase. It's the latest breaking bits from our news-obsessed editors.

There's a need for a place where fans can go to interact with their favorite entertainers, listen to music, watch videos, share and discover cool stuff and just connect. Over the weekend, the college football bowl season delivered some incredible match-ups and some truly memorable games. Urban Meyer notched one final victory as the coach of the University of Florida Gators, while Texas Christian University made a case for itself (and the rest of the unheralded smaller programs in the country) with an impressive win against Wisconsin. Of course, while those games were both excellent, neither could hold a candle to the 2006 Rose Bowl, which was played on this day five years ago and pitted the University of Southern California Trojans against the University of Texas Longhorns in one of the most hotly-anticipated (and greatest) college football games in history.
A few weeks before the game, USC running back Reggie Bush narrowly beat out Texas quarterback Vince Young for the Heisman Trophy, which is awarded to the best college football player in the country. But once the Rose Bowl kicked off,...

A gunman opened fire on school board members Tuesday (Dec. 14) in Panama City, Florida.
Though several shots were fired, no one was hit. The whole thing was caught on tape, however, and the video has been making the rounds of morning news shows and the Internet. It's pretty tense and horrifying to watch, so we can't even imagine how difficult it was to actually be there.
The video shows gunman, 56-year-old Clay A. Duke holding a gun while Superintendent Bill Husfelt attempts to persuade him to drop the weapon. Without success, Duke then fires two shots at Husfelt before the board members duck for cover.
District security officer Mike Jones then enters the room and shoots Duke in what appears to be his leg, before the gunman fatally shoots himself.
Reportedly, Duke was upset about his wife being fired from the district, though he would not divulge her name or job to the board.

In the past two years, Variety has lost an astonishing number of reporters and editors. The first waves were layoffs. The latest wave has been voluntary. January 2009 brought a set of layoffs that included reporters and editors Mike Jones, Anne Thompson, Alys Marshall, Phil Gallo, Andrew Barker, Byron Perry, Lisa Weinstein, Diane Garrett, Martha Hernandez, Ben Fritz and Jeff Sneider. It was one in a series of layoffs at the trade. But it wasn’t the last. In April, Peter Bart was moved from editor-in chief to become a columnist. Tim Gray...

Perhaps it's no surprise half of "MySpace" went missing in the company logo's recent redesign (the word Space was replaced by a space -- get it?). At the LeWeb conference in Paris Wednesday, MySpace CEO Mike Jones seemed to give up on the potential of MySpace as a music service. The site has remained a destination for music fans, even as it conceded its social networking side to Facebook. Yet Jones does not seem poised to capitalize on the customers he still has.
"My goal is, you come to MySpace, you listen to some new bands and connect to those bands," Jones told audience members. "I don't want to be the place that replaces iTunes. I want to be the place where you learn about music and then take that to wherever your music consumption happens."
Why would MySpace want to sacrifice this potential revenue generator? Imagine if Amazon CEO...

Gorillaz have debuted a music video for their latest single "Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach." Instead of featuring the members of the animated band, the clip highlights their collaborator Snoop Dogg wearing a captain outfit with a telescope in his hand.
"Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach" is one of the singles appearing in Gorillaz's third studio album "Plastic Beach". Beside Snoop Dogg, there are also Little Dragon, Gruff Rhys, De La Soul, Mos Def, Mike Jones and Lou Reed supporting them in the featured guests line-up.
Gorillaz are currently on tour. When the gig comes to an end, Damon Albarn is considering to retire because the British rocker can't "keep going at this size and pace." The Blur frontman has been touring extensively with the group this year, taking their Escape to Plastic Beach shows to Asia, Europe, Australia and North America, as well...

MySpace tightened integration with Facebook today. Some say that means Facebook has won the "social network wars." Here's why they're wrong.
MySpace today announced a new feature, called “Mashups with Facebook,” that allows new users to pull all their Facebook Likes and Interests into their MySpace accounts--the better to accelerate the process of getting started using MySpace. Some sources have framed the move as a sign that MySpace is “capitulating” to Facebook in the social network wars.
But that's not true. MySpace actually capitulated many months ago, when it decided to stop being a social network. Instead, it became an entertainment hub. Mashups with Facebook is just the company’s latest move in that pivot.
MySpace launched its new product last month. Some saw it as a “redesign,” but it wasn’t an upgrade of the old MySpace so much as version 1 of the new MySpace. Gone was the blinking,...

Gorillaz's underwater adventure in "On Melancholy Hill" clip continues in newly-debuted "Doncamatic" music video. While "Melancholy Hill" features the animated band and their featured guests, this new clip only sees one of their collaborators Daley as a one-man submarine on his journey to reach Plastic Beach.
"Plastic Beach" is the name of Gorillaz's third studio album which includes "Melancholy Hill" on the track list. The album has been on sale since March this year and peaked at No. 2 on Billboard Hot 200. It features the likes of Snoop Dogg, Little Dragon, Gruff Rhys, De La Soul, Mos Def, Mike Jones and Lou Reed.
"Doncamatic" itself is a non-album single. It will be made available for digital download in the U.S. starting November 23.

In sporting news, Pacquiao vs Margarito fight time tonight does not appear to be strictly slotted. This is due to the under card bouts that will start prior to the main event. The HBO Pay-Per-View broadcast will being a 9pm Est. This will include initial coverage and pre-fight commentary.
It will be likely that Pacquiao vs Margarito time will begin approximately 10 pm Est, but this of course would be a best guess scenario.
The fight is at the new Cowboys Stadium and doors open around 6 pm Est, 5 pm local time. The under card fights are between Guillermo Rigondeaux vs. Ricardo Cordoba, Mike Jones vs. Jesus Soto and Brandon Rios vs. Karass Omri Lowther.
Should be a great night of boxing carnage.

Good morning. While you were sleeping, advances in technology, ethonomics, and business leadership just kept on keepin' on. Here are just five of myriad examples:
1. Pictures of something looking like the PlayStation Phone have been leaked. Though it doesn't specify the provenance of the images, Engadget assures that the prototype pictures on its site are the real deal. The prototype features a roughly four-inch screen and something looking like a long multi-touch pad in the center. Get pumped: Now you can finally change your phone number to a combination of squares, triangles, and circles, like you always wanted.
2. Well, isn't this awkward. Just as Apple is trying to make great strides into the world's largest mobile market--China--a Chinese company called Proview Technology accuses Apple of copyright infringement. Proview says it owns the rights to the name "iPad" in China, and calls Apple's march forward without negotiating with Proview "arrogant." Apple...

Agents tell me international publisher demand for celebrity biographies is dipping. But the reps and publishers I’ve spoken to are quietly confident business overall will be better at this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair which opens today – at least compared to the disastrous London market in April. Laura Morris, an independent agent who represents film author David Thomson, says, “There’s a feeling that things are getting better. Christmas books still do well. The interest in Jonathan Franzen’s new novel Freedom shows you can still make a big splash with books.” “Yes, the market does seem to be picking up, but quietly,” says literary agent Julian Friedmann of Blake Friedmann. But fewer people will travel to Frankfurt this year. There are expected to be 5% less exhibitors, with 6,930 stands compared with 7,314 one year ago. And the number of new titles for sale is expected to be down 23% at 309,885. Like the indie movie sector,...

The Maine have fully unveiled a music video filmed to support their single "Inside of You". Directed by Mike Jones and Jim Sullos, the clip sees the band making a live performance inside a stark white room. Narrative scene which features a young boy is also included.
The Maine's new album "Black & White" which has been released in United States on July 13 is the one which features "Inside of You" on the tracklisting. The effort was recorded in California with Grammy-nominated producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, The All-American Rejects).
With the new release, this band step out of their comfort zone and create a cohesive body of work. From unexpectedly dark pop gems like "Inside of You" to nostalgic summertime ballads like "Growing Up", each track on the album defies categorization yet still retains the signature sound that has endeared The Maine to fans around the world.
