Here’s a couple of new UK posters for Lionsgate’s theatrical retelling of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings in their movie Patriots Day which tragically saw 3 people lose their lives with a further 264 people injured.
The two pressure cooker bombs were set off 190 metres apart close to the finish line with the pictures being beamed across the globe shocking all who saw. What followed was an FBI man-hunt for the two suspects, brothers Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev. The movie takes us through exactly what happened on the day of the event and its ultimate conclusion which saw those who tried to stop the pair sadly killed and ultimately the two terrorists also being shot and killed.
Much like Director Peter Director Berg’s previous film Deepwater Horizon, the movie focuses on the real life everyday heroes who inspired the world in the hours that followed the tragic event.

For the third time in as many years, director Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg will collaborate to present another true-life account of heroism, tragedy and the power of the human spirit. In 2013, it was Lone Survivor that brought both creatives together, and the pair have since reteamed for the white-knuckle ride known as Deepwater Horizon.
Touting an all-star ensemble and some truly edge-of-your-seat action sequences, Horizon was arguably better than it had any right to be, documenting the true tale of heroism buried beneath the messy Bp oil spill of 2010. Their latest project is called Patriots Day, one poised to shift the spotlight three years forward.

A new trailer has been released for Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg's upcoming film Patriots Day. It's a powerful trailer for the film, which tells the true story of the tragic Boston Marathon bombing that took place back in 2013. Three civilians were killed in the attack and 264 others were injured. The movie not only centers on the attack but also the intense manhunt that followed to capture the people responsible.
Berg is a solid filmmaker and I've really enjoyed his last couple of films that include Lone Survivor and Deepwater Horizon. He's really good at capturing the American spirit in these films in which people have to courageously come together in the face of terror and danger.

Their first film of the fall, Deepwater Horizon, wasn’t exactly a huge hit for Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg, clocking in at a budget of around $110 million and not even reaching that mark worldwide. They are now back with a new drama, the more modestly budgeted Patriots Day. Centering around the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, it specifically follows Police Commissioner Ed Davis (John Goodman) and officers under in his department such as Sergeant Tommy Saunders (Wahlberg).
Featuring a score from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and Gone Girl), a new trailer has now arrived. With its bombastic score, the drama looks to be a mix of an intense thriller and uplifting drama about community and the human spirit, and with an AFI Fest premiere soon, we’ll find out if Berg and company pull it off. Also starring Michelle Monaghan,...

The American Film Institute has announced that Universal Pictures’ Split — from Academy Award-nominated director/writer/producer M. Night Shyamalan and Academy Award-nominated producer Jason Blum — will play as a Special Screening at AFI Fest 2016 presented by Audi.
Written and directed by Shyamalan, Split is an original thriller that delves into the mysterious recesses of one man’s fractured, gifted mind. Though Kevin (James McAvoy) has evidenced 23 personalities to his trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher (Betty Buckley), there remains one still submerged who is set to materialize and dominate all the others. Compelled to abduct three teenage girls led by the willful, observant Casey (Anya Taylor-Joy), Kevin reaches a war for survival among all of those contained within him — as well as everyone around him — as the walls between his compartments begin to shatter apart.

So many goodies in the cinemas candy store this upcoming Awards Season! Oh,boy, oh boy.
It’s “Good Movie Season” when we get Hollywood heavy-hitters (both top popcorn entertainment and Oscar wannabees), and the best of the film festival circuit, most recently from Toronto. Many films will have an awards qualifying run in 2016 and open officially in 2017.
While we have not seen some of these (although we have seen some trailers), some movies are sure to disappoint. That said, here is Wamg’s list of highly-anticipated films, both big blockbuster entertainment and seriously meaty cinema.

Some may wonder exactly what the story is behind Patriots Day, the Peter Berg film about the Boston Marathon bombing, and while the trailer is heavy on showcasing the drama of the event, and making sure you see the people starring in it, it does give you a little glimpse of Mark Wahlberg‘s character.
It looks as though we are going into the lives of some of the figures associated with the rescue/relief effort and the hunt for the bombers.
The crossing guard remark might not be what I chose to highlight in the trailer, but this is clearly a look at the film that isn’t after revealing too much, so there might not have been much to work with.
Either way, this is one to watch for, and has a cast that should be able to give us something compelling, especially with John Goodman and J.K. Simmons involved in key roles.

The last 24 hours have seen the release of three trailers for upcoming movies, including a brand new (and unexpected) thriller from Jordan Peele, and two powerful looking dramas. Come inside to check them out!
Sometimes, movie news likes to land all at once, with multiple things hitting at the same time. Such was the case with these three trailers, so instead of spreading them out over a few articles, I thought it'd be easier to lump them all together...Especially considering these are the first trailers for all three films. Let's start out with something unexpected:
Get Out comes as a big surprise being written and direted by Jordan Peele (Key & Peele). No one knew he was making this movie, let alone a thriller that seems at odds with his normal wheelhouse. Either way, it looks kinda neat, even if the trailer gives away most of it.

Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg join forces again for a film set in the aftermath of the Boston bombing, Patriots Day. Here's the trailer.
The upcoming drama Patriots Day reunites the Deepwater Horizon team of Mark Wahlberg and director Peter Berg, to tell a story centred around the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing. It seems very close to the actual event to make a film about it, but the debut teaser trailer's solemn tone seems respectful of that.
The focus of Patriots Day? Well, Mark Wahlberg plays an everyman embarking on a seemingly mundane day at work that fatefully yields tragedy. He plays Boston police sergeant Tommy Saunders who, lamenting the indignity of some flat-footed, reflective-vest-wearing duty watching over the Boston Marathon, will find himself on the scene of an unforgettable act of terrorism.

April 15, 2013 will be a day long remembered for the people of Boston for it was here that a terrorist attacked rocked the city during the midst of the annual Boston Marathon. A devastating event that resulted in the deaths of 6 people, Hollywood studios have mapped out plans to remember the Boston Strong via documentaries and feature films in the vein of Peter Berg’s Patriots Day.
Heralding another collaboration with good-luck charm Mark Wahlberg – the two first worked together on Lone Survivor, another thriller based on real events – the awards-tipped picture is a star-studded account of the events that transpired three years ago, and today brings forth the poignant first teaser trailer ahead of its December release.
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are the brains behind that understated score, as today’s snippet introduces us to Wahlberg’s Police Sergeant Tommy Saunders. It then switches gears to parade the stellar supporting cast of Patriots Day,...

With dramas like “Lone Survivor” and “Deepwater Horizon,” Mark Wahlberg and director Peter Berg have committed themselves to bringing true stories of American heroes to the big screen. The latter is now playing in theaters nationwide, but that’s not the last we’ll see of the pair this year. Hitting select theaters this Christmas, “Patriots Day” finds the filmmaking team tackling the events of the Boston Marathon Bombing.
The film centers around Mark Wahlberg’s Sergeant Tommy Saunders, a composite character based on real members of the Boston Police Department, who leads the manhunt for the Boston Marathon bomber. His efforts are supported by Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis (John Goodman), FBI Special Agent Richard DesLauriers (Kevin Bacon) and Watertown Police Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese (J.K. Simmons).

Suddenly one of the most prolific pairings working in cinema, Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg have teamed again — as director and star, respectively — for Patriots Day. The story concerns an account of the events — leading up to, during, and after — the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, specifically following Police Commissioner Ed Davis (John Goodman) and officers under in his department such as Sergeant Tommy Saunders (Wahlberg).
Starting with 2013’s Lone Survivor, Berg and Wahlberg’s real-life-to-screen collaboration began as a critically successful and commercially viable output, although this past weekend’s $20 million take for Deepwater Horizon didn’t come close to its $100 million-plus budget. However, Patriots Day, which has a score from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, certainly has a more modest budget, so we’ll see if this recreation of another harrowing event connects more with audiences come December.

The Vinegar Syndrome video label continues to unearth obscure examples of 1960s erotica. None is more bizarre than "Infrasexum", a 1969 concoction by director/actor Carlos Tobalina, who would ultimately be regarded as one of the more prolific hardcore filmmakers. Back in '69, however, it was still difficult to get theatrical showings of hardcore films, which were generally relegated to 8mm film loops sold in adult book stores. Tabolina tried to push the envelope with "Infrasexum" but was still confined by the dreaded "community standards" obscenity laws that mandated only soft-core movies could generally be shown without causing a major legal flap from local conservative groups that had routinely declared war on pornography. "Infrasexum" (I have no idea what the title means and apparently neither did Tobalina) attempts to tell a poignant story about the toll the aging process takes on sexual libido. The film opens in the...

Former True Detective star Michelle Monaghan has become a last-minute addition to the cast of Boston bombing drama Patriots’ Day, joining the real-life pic as Carol Saunders, wife to Sgt. Tommy Saunders (Mark Wahlberg).
Penned by the Oscar nominated Matt Charman (Bridge of Spies), Patriots’ Day is to be directed by Lone Survivor filmmaker Peter Berg – he’ll be reuniting with Wahlberg for Deepwater Horizon, too. Leading the charge against the suspected terrorists, Wahlberg’s Saunders is described as a “composite Boston Police Department officer who leads the manhunt for the chief suspects.”
Flanked by John Goodman’s Ed Davis and Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese (portrayed here by J.K. Simmons), Saunders proved to be a key player during the formative hours of the investigation that swept through the city back in 2013. As for the addition of Monaghan, Berg welcomed The Path star with open arms, stating that “in the aftermath of the attack,...

February 2009 began on a sad note for many vampire lovers and horror fans with the death of iconic genre legend Robert Quarry. If there was one actor capable of equalling Christopher Lee’s immortal performance as Dracula it was Quarry as the evil Count Yorga. A veteran of stage and TV, Quarry was set to become a major horror star of the seventies, but his film career faded rapidly, a situation not helped by a terrible run of bad luck that nearly cost him his life. Despite never achieving the movie stardom he deserved, his enigmatic turn as the sardonic vampire lord has given him cult immortality.
