- An attractive blonde with stage experience, Karlov was unable to find any significant work under a variation of her real name, Jeanne Williams. Failing to make an impact, she adopted an exotic name and an accent and back-story to match, and finally gained some attention. Her cover was reportedly blown at a luncheon at the Roosevelt Hotel, in front of a number of reporters, by Lina Basquette, who knew her from their days in New York.
