So the wife and I celebrated our five years doin’ it legal style with an Iron Chef dinner followed by Big Hero 6. If you don’t get how awesome that is, then you don’t understand why I married my wife. Our meal was fantastic. The movie? Dare I say it… just as good.
Big Hero 6 is a big, wide-eyed action-adventure that skews towards the young at heart. Born by way of a not-really-well-known Marvel series (c. 1998, and then again in 2008) turned inside-out into a brand new property for the House of Mouse. The team behind Frozen – that flick about the Nordic chic who opted to not live at Professor X’s house – and Wreck-It Ralph, provided the visuals. Joe Kelly, Steven T. Seagle, and Duncan Rouleau provided the script.
The flick itself is power-struggle between slick and polished style, and throaty topics that are typical to Disney kids fare.

I remember first reading about Deadpool in the early 2000's in my X-Men anthology series. The picture next to his profile, if I remember right, was Dp kicking ass while talking about GI Joe. I remember thinking it was weird and flipping the page, not really giving it a second thought. Longshot was my favorite mutant.
Fast forward to now, when the "Merc with a mouth" has skyrocketed to geek fame. Cons are flooded with geeks in suits, he's in video games and, yes, even children's programs.
So with all the hype of the potential movie on the horizon, you may be toying with the idea of getting into Deadpool. For those people, I have a collection of everything you need to know. I wanted to give a big Thanks! to Nerdist News for the mention of my comic Supernovas today. Nerdist made a big splash at WonderCon when co-founder Chris Hardwick (formerly of MTV and G4) made the announcement of the new shows that would be premiering this week on their YouTube Channel, including shows by Harry Knowles of Ain't It Cool News and Geoff Boucher of Hero Complex at the L.A. Pauley Perrette will voice Lois Lane in the upcoming animated DVD-movie Superman vs. The Elite. Based on the graphic novel "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way?". The story appeared in Action Comics #775 as published by DC Comics in March 2001. It was written by Joe Kelly, pencilled by Doug Mahnke and Lee Bermejo, and inked by Tom Nguyen, Dexter Vines, Jim Royal, Jose Marzan, Wade Von Grawbadger and Wayne Faucher. The tale focuses on The Elite, a team of super-powered antiheroes fronted by Manchester Black, who gained worldwide popularity for viciously killing their foes. Despite the acclaim and approval that the Elite are enjoying, Superman knows that they are wrong, and tension mounts between the Man of Steel and The Elite mounts until a televised showdown takes place on Jupiter. Said Perrette about her Lois Lane portrayal in comparison to her NCIS role, "I...

Many thanks to Comic Book Resources for the following quote from Joe Quesada, as well as new concept art from the upcoming animated series. For more, be sure to head on over to the site by clicking on the link below. "One thing I've been really excited and talking about consistently is our upcoming "Ultimate Spider-Man" animated show that's coming to Disney Xd in 2012. What makes this Spider-Man cartoon really special and unique is that, while there have been many great Spidey shows in the past, it's the first Spidey cartoon made by Marvel. Marvel writers and artists worked directly on this show so it's going to have more Marvel DNA than any show that has come previously. Jeph Loeb has assembled a pretty amazing creative brain trust and writers room consisting of Paul Dini, Man of Action (Joe Kelly, Steve Seagle, Joe Casey and Duncan Rouleau), Spider-Man Editor Steve Wacker,...

Primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced this morning, and "Game of Thrones" fans in the feed saw a few reasons to get excited, including a Best Drama nod and a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister. C.B. Cebulski and Brian Reed were both behind him, while Ryan North got all pumped for "Adventure Time."
You can bet that "Game of Thrones" will be a hot topic at Comic-Con International in San Diego next week. Joe Kelly and Brian Michael Bendis both had the show on their minds and shared some advice for everyone else who plans on attending. Check that out down below, along with a response to the leaked "Dark Knight Rises" trailer.

Powers co-creator and writer Brian Michael Bendis called into the Geektime radio show on Sirius Xm channel Howard 100 and revealed that Carly Foulkes will play the role of Retro Girl, the first character murdered in FX’s adaptation of Powers, a drama following two homicide detectives in a world inhabited by super powered beings.
Foulkes may not be a recognizable name, but many will recognize her in the T-Moble commercials as the company spokesperson. Even though she is murdered, Foulkes’ image will be used throughout the show on billboards, and advertisements. “She’s the Princess Di of the Powers World.”
Bendis also spoke well of Lucy Punch who came out of nowhere to earn the role of co-lead Deena Pilgrim. “Lucy came in and destroyed it,” Bendis said. “She transformed herself into Deena. She’s bringing something that no one expected. We said to ourselves,’That’s what Deena is...

The world lost a a treasure this week with the passing of Mad Libs creator Leonard B. Stern. Joe Kelly, among others, expressed his thanks to the man, and we at the Report here echo those words.
On another surprising (yet decidedly more upbeat) note, "Duke Nukem Forever" actually appears to be coming out in a few days. Kieron Gillen was all about that on his account. Karl Kerschl, meanwhile, has been playing "Darksiders," a game which inspired to give a shout-out to Joe Madureira. Those posts and Jim Lee's defense of "Game of Thrones" to Bryan Hitch can be found down below.

The president's hearty Irish swig of Guinness, on a visit to his ancestral village of Moneygall, cemented his status as a native son-though it may have set the country's image back 20 years. Tom Sykes reports from Ireland.
Despite howling gales that threatened to ground the presidential chopper and the return of the Icelandic volcanic ash cloud, President Obama made it to his ancestral hometown of Moneygall in Ireland on Monday.

Why, like any good Irishman, he went to the pub for a Guinness, of course. The Irish village of Moneygall is preparing to welcome an American president whose ancestor was a native son. Obama's planned May visit has excited locals-and prompted more racial awareness, writes Tom Sykes.
The great, but generally unvocalized, astonishment of the people of Moneygall is not so much that one of their descendants is president of the United States, but that one of their descendants is black. You see, a lad going off to America and doing well for himself ... well, all the folks in the pub drinking their pints of Guinness can get their heads around that story; sure, wasn't JFK the most famous Irishman of all?

You know how it was announced that the Ultimate Spider-Man TV show was to debut on Disney Xd in Fall 2011? Well, according to Marvel's Twitter account, it's been pushed back to the beginning of 2012, a few months ahead of The Amazing Spider-Man. In addition, check out the following that was just posted to Marvel.com: Earlier this year, we let you know “Ultimate Spider-Man” would hit the animated airwaves in the near future. Since then, the show’s writers and producers have held a number of summits to hash out the stories for Spidey’s next animated adventure. So, we spoke with Marvel Television Development Associate Harrison Wilcox about how the most recent summit, held two weeks ago. In attendance were writers Joe Kelly, Steve Seagle, Joe Casey and Duncan Rouleau—collectively known as Man of Action—as well as Paul Dini and Brian Michael Bendis. Also pitching in were Jeph Loeb,...

At a recent summit for the show that included writers Joe Kelly, Steve Seagle, Joe Casey and Duncan Rouleau, along with Paul Dini, Brian Michael Bendis, Jeph Loeb, Joe Quesada, Stephen Wacker, Cort Lane and Harrison Wilcox, Marvel Television Development Associate Harrison Wilcox talked about the different way in which they're putting the show together. While most animated series' have a single story editor who works with the producers, Ultimate Spider-Man will be doing things a lot differentely. Because this is our Spider-Man show, and the first show that Marvel is producing itself, Jeph wanted to do things a little differently and have a writers' room meet together to break the story. On The Plans For The First Season Of Ultimate Spider-Man: The first summit was very much setting up who the characters were, the pilot that Paul wrote, and the overall arc for Peter, Spider-Man, the main cast and our main villains.

The Merc with a Mouth's co-creator mentions a scene that, if included in the future film, he believes fans would greatly approve of. Ryan Reynolds may not be reprising his role as Wade Wilson/Deadpool is the already scripted spin-off film, but 20th Century Fox is still moving ahead (albeit slowly) with the project. Over the past several months, comic book veteran Rob Liefeld, who is credited with the bulk of the character's creation, has been very vocal about the possible tone and references he thinks should make it into a Deadpool film. Today, the other half of the Deadpool creative team spoke out as well. Joe Kelly scribed the acclaimed opening run on the character's first solo series in the late 1990s; a run that die hard fans believe perfectly captured the essence of a complex...

This was sort of a landmark morning in Twitter Report feed artwork, as not only did regular art poster Yildiray Cinar show off a great Timberwolf; Terry Moore made a Poison Ivy that will make your sketchbook jealous, and Lucy Knisley summed up "Glee" in a single comic strip. Luckily, all three of these have been included below.
Elsewhere, opinions poured out into the tweet ocean as always, with Dan Slott discussing the pros and cons of Olivia Munn, Mike Norton offering some brutally honest advice for young artists and Cully Hamner showing up with a warning to search engine users looking for updates about the Chilean miners.

Veteran writer and producer Paul Dini is making his Marvel by joining the creative team for the "Ultimate Spider-Man" series, saddling up alongside a formidable crew that includes Brian Michael Bendis and the "Man of Action" collective of Duncan Rouleau, Joe Casey, Joe Kelly and Steven T. Seagle. Certainly, the stars are aligning for the animated future of "Spider-Man."
But that's just on the behind-the-scenes side of things, as the actual voice cast of "Ultimate Spider-Man" has yet to be announced. Announcements are certainly forthcoming, but in the meantime, it's fun to think about some of the high profile actors who could lend their voices to Peter Parker on the new show.
After the jump, we've listed a few of the actors we'd like to see hear as the star of the "Ultimate Spider-Man" TV series!

According to Comic Book Resources, Paul Dini, the man partially responsible for the legendary Batman: The Animated Series, has joined the writing staff of Disney Xd's Ultimate Spider-Man animated series. This, my friends, is a good thing.
Other notable names involved with Usm are Duncan Rolueau, Joe Case, Joe Kelly, Steven T. Seagle and Ultimate 'Verse creator, Brian Michael Bendis. With such talent behind the show it will most assuradly be both faithful to the source material and quite watchable.
The series will begin airing in 2011.

Paul Dini has joined the writing team behind Marvel and Disney's Ultimate Spider-Man animation, MTV reports. The Batman scribe will work alongside Brian Michael Bendis and Man Of Action creators Duncan Rouleau, Joe Casey, Joe Kelly and Steven T. Seagle on the project. "Brian's work is a great part of the inspiration for the series, and the Man Of Action writers are going to handle the bulk of the episode scripting," said Dini. Based on Bendis's run on the comic book of the same name, the show's development is supervised by Marvel's recently-appointed (more)...

Four Eyes Volume 1: Forged in Flames (Image Tp, $9.99) By Jeb D. Dragons may not be as overworked as vampires and zombies these days, but they're typically even more limited in their characterization than those various iterations of the living/un dead, so to come up with a new approach to the mythical fire-breathers is welcome. And if writer Joe Kelly and artist Max Fiumara (with colorist Nestor Pereyra) don't completely hit it out of the park with this series, they've at the very least...

The long search for an actor to play Peter Parker is over. Andrew Garfield is the new Spider-Man, and everyone's talking about it — especially comic book creators.
In the wake of last night's big casting news, I reached out to some of the notable writers, artists, and editors who have worked on Marvel's friendly neighborhood webslinger at one point or another to get their take on the 26-year-old actor landing the role.
What do they think of the actor's Spidey-aptitude? What will he need to bring to the role? Here's what some of our favorite Spider-Man creators had to say about the news.
I think this displays yet again Terry Gilliam's brilliant eye for casting. Garfield was excellent as Anton in "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus," and if he brings to "Spider-Man" even a fraction of both the intensity and vulnerability that he displayed in Gilliam's latest masterwork, then...

The multicamera comedy -- penned by "Hoa I Met Your Mothr'"s Carter Bays, Craig Thomas, Kourtney Kang and Joe Kelly -- revolves around an unmarried couple, Tommy (Kyle Bornheimer) and Gina, and their friends in Pittsburgh.
The CAA-repped Pressly will play Tommy's best friend, a veterinarian who works with him at the local zoo.

Comic book writers worry about the same things you and I do. Take Neil Gaiman's frustration with airport body scanners and Fred Van Lente's anti-earthquake rage, for instance. However, there was joy in today's Twitter Report, too — with Brian Michael Bendis receiving some news from Joe Quesada that he wouldn't share with the world.
Kevin Smith, meanwhile, fielded a question about the kid-friendly nature of his new "Green Hornet" miniseries at Dynamite, which he claims is appropriate for all ages. You can check out his retweeted justification below, along with what's in Ed Brubaker's Netflix queue, Dan Slott's high-school comics reading routine, and the way to pronounce Archaia from a tweeter who knows.

It’s no secret we love TV. We watch it, talk about it, review it and generally spend a lot of time with it. So, it should come as no surprise we’re very interested in what new shows may potentially be coming to the networks in the near future.
Fortunately, we don’t have to do a lot of work to find out, and you have to do even less, because the guys and gals at EW have gathered together lists of all of the 2010-2011 season pilot orders for ABC, CBS and NBC. Wasn’t that nice of them? Yes, yes it was.
Just between these three networks (we’ll bring you Fox and the others, including cable, later), 31 dramas and 29 comedies are being considered. What shows will make it to the Fall schedule is still anyone’s guess, and we’ll have to wait until May to find out,...

Superboy has been trying to “find himself” and determine if he’s more Superman than Lex Luthor, since his genetic make-up is made from both of them. Unfortunately, it’s Luthor who finds him first and serves notice that for all his intellect and power, Luthor still has that nasty little streak in him.

I’m particularly fired up for some brand new Adam Kubert art this week. The Kubert Brothers are probably my favorite comic artists working today, and this week we get Adam Kubert handling a Dan Slott Spider-Man issue, where our favorite web-slinger gets put on Norman Osborn’s List. This is probably the Must Buy of the week in my opinion, and there you have it.
Other good issues include the beginning of the Gauntlet story in Amazing Spider-Man. With Mark Waid writing and Paul Azaceta drawing the introduction, Joe Kelly and his I Kill Giants artist Niimura handle a Black Cat story.
From DC we get the penultimate issue of the Flash: Rebirth, with some incredible art from Ethan Van Sciver. At this point, with Blackest Night and everything else it seems like this book has kind of gone by the wayside and we know that Barry Allen is...

Has there been a hotter commodity in recent times than Deadpool? Hard to argue, but looking back you’ll find that the first issue of this title was launched last year amid much fanfare. Fast-forward twelve months and the character has starred in a one-shot (Deadpool: Games of Death), a mini-series (Deadpool: Suicide Kings), a second ongoing series (Deadpool: Merc With a Mouth) and an upcoming third ongoing (Deadpool Team-Up). While this week's poll was a bit more subdued than last week's "Spider-Man 4" villain blowout, readers still crowded in to registered their opinion on which comic book movie they'd like to see with an "R" rating.
In the end, Marvel's "Merc With A Mouth" earned the most votes, but Deadpool was followed close behind by DC's "Main Man," Lobo. Possibly most interesting, however, was the fact that the third most popular option in the poll was a very clear "None of the Above."
According to 15 percent of Splash Page readers, the script and filmmaker outweigh any concerns over the intended audience for a film—which makes a lot of sense, of course. Read on for a look at how the numbers added up after all the votes were tallied.
Poll Results
Deadpool: 22%
Lobo: 19%
None - It Depends On The Script/Filmmaker: 15%
Wolverine: 10%
Ghost Rider: 8%
