Fox will keep its Missing Persons Unit on the job for another season.
The network has renewed the drama series Alert: Missing Persons Unit for a third season in 2024-25. The series will remain in production after season two wraps, which will bank episodes leading into next season and potentially serve as a hedge against a possible IATSE strike in the summer.
Alert is one of just two dramas Fox has aired in 2023-24 as the network relied heavily on its unscripted and animated rosters, which weren’t affected by last year’s dual strikes. Fox has yet to make a call on the other drama, The Cleaning Lady.
Alert stars Scott Caan and Dania Ramirez as Philadelphia detectives who head the city’s missing persons unit and work to find missing or abducted people and reunite them with loved ones. Adeola Role, Ryan Broussard and Alisha-Marie Ahamed also star...

Exclusive: Fox has given a Season 3 pickup to Alert: Missing Persons Unit. The renewal of the procedural drama, starring Scott Caan and Dania Ramirez, has been expected.
To make filming more cost-efficient for series producers Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment, Alert will remain in continuous production, segueing from the abbreviated-by-the-strikes second season to Season 3, whose episode count is still Tbd, I hear. There is an additional benefit to filming Seasons 2 and 3 back-to-back — Fox will have fresh episodes of the series in case production is disrupted by an IATSE strike this summer.
There is no word yet on Fox’s other outstanding drama series, The Cleaning Lady. As Deadline has reported, it also is looking good for renewal.

“Most Dangerous Game” and the Zoe-Lister-Jones-led “Slip” are among a handful of existing licensed and produced shows being removed by Roku. The company also plans to lay off staff. Roku is the latest streamer to purge content from its platform to cut costs, following similar moves by Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max, Disney and AMC Networks.
The Christoph Waltz and Liam Hemsworth-led “Most Dangerous Game,” originally created for Quibi by Nick Santora, earned two Emmy nominations for its first season. Roku renewed the action thriller for a second season, which premiered in March.

Exclusive: Roku has begun removing titles including scripted shows Most Dangerous Game starring Christoph Waltz and Slip from Zoe Lister-Jones.
It is the latest streamer to remove titles from its service following similar moves by Paramount+, Disney+, Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max and AMC Networks.
Roku revealed yesterday that it was set to remove some content as part of a cost-cutting drive that also saw around 300 employees laid off. It said that it would take a hit of between $55M-$65M for removing “select existing licensed and produced content from company-operated services on its TV streaming platform”.
The company will, however, continue to order original series and sources note that this process is part of its regular review of programming.

Updates earlier exclusive, with quotes:: It’s official. David Eilenberg is returning to being a buyer.
The Chief Creative Officer of ITV America is joining Roku as its Head of Originals.
ilenberg will join in April and report to Rob Holmes, VP Programming at Roku.
It comes as the streaming service has been ramping up the amount of exclusive and original content that it develops and commissions.
Last year, Roku acquired Quibi’s library of original content and launched dozens of short-form shows on The Roku Channel, including a number that never launched on the Jeffrey Katzenberg-led service. In addition, it renewed a number of shows for second seasons.
But outside of the Quibi deal, the service, which essentially began as a streaming aggregator, has plans to bolster its pipeline of original series and films even further with plans to order around 50 series and films over the next two years.

Moriz via his Original Film, as well as Josh Berman’ Osprey Productions and Sony Pictures TV where Berman and Moritz have overall deals.
The film, which starred Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox, Forest Whitaker, William Hurt and Sigourney Weaver, told the story of an assassination attempt on the President of the United States through the vantage points of different characters.
Here is how the TV series is described: In the age of fake news, the truth can seem inadequate at best and skewed at worst. Fox is set to order a handful of comedy and drama pilots in January with a view to move completely off-cycle.
This comes as the network steps up its push into comedy after not having any new live-action comedies on the fall schedule, with particularly high hopes for Carla, starring The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik and based on British comedy Miranda.
“We’re going to order a couple to several drama and comedy pilots in January but we’re also doing off-cycle. We’re not going to do all of our ordering in January; our hope is to be completely off-cycle,” Fox president of entertainment Michael Thorn told Deadline. “We’re looking at ordering things when they’re ready and backing off the traditional cycle and looking to set series up for success.”

A one-hour rom-com procedural set in the Florida Panhandle is in the works at Fox.
The network has issued a put pilot commitment to “Florida Man,” which hails from “Neighbors” and “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” director Nick Stoller, and “Bones” producer Carla Kettner.
“Florida Man” centers around the loquacious, eccentric Bell Prescott, who hasn’t left the rambling property on the Apachicola River that he shares with his mother since a personal tragedy occurred five years ago. When Bell discovers a dead body, he’s forced to venture beyond his agoraphobic boundaries and grudgingly partner with the sole remaining cop in town, the practical, brutally direct Cammie Jessop, to solve the murder. With local infrastructure decimated, Bell grudgingly becomes the town’s volunteer criminologist, investigating murders with Cammie as he secretly tries to solve the crime that destroyed his life.
The prospective show is being made by Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment.

Exclusive: NBC has given an early Season 7 renewal to veteran thriller drama The Blacklist, from Davis Entertainment, Sony Pictures TV and Universal TV.
I hear the pickup had been in the works for awhile. Standard broadcast series’ cast contracts are for six years. While I hear The Blacklist star James Spader had renegotiated his deal early on, adding an extra year, the rest of the show’s original cast members’ contracts were up at the end of the current sixth season. I hear over the past several months, Sony TV inked new pacts with co-lead Megan Boone and the other two original series regular cast members Diego Klatenhoff and Harry Lennix. Securing the core cast paved the way to a Season 7 renewal.

Raymond Reddington is a liar, and Elizabeth Keen is going to prove it. In this new sneak peek from the two-part Season 6 premiere of “The Blacklist,” which is exclusive to TheWrap, Lizzie hits the ground running on that assignment.
In the 54-second clip, Liz (Megan Boone) and her sister Jennifer Reddington (guest star Fiona Dourif) are discussing their plans to secretly investigate the identity of the imposter (James Spader) who has been posing as their father, Raymond Reddington, for the last 30 years. The riddle of Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) is the central question for NBC’s The Blacklist as it returns for Season 6 and the just-released trailer suggests that the master manipulator of the underworld may be behind bars for a while.
Season 6 kicks off with a two-part special that airs on back-to-back nights with a 10 pm episode on Jan. 3 and then a 9pm episode on Jan. 4. After Reddington’s arrest as a federal fugitive he’s headed both to court (giving Spader a Boston Legal revival moment: “Shouldn’t judges at least pretend to be impartial?”) and into federal custody (presenting at least the possibility that Red in Orange is the New Blacklist could be an episode title).
For Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) the identity mystery surrounding the man assumed to be her father has her questioning everything. Liz and Red engage in an uneasy cat-and-mouse game in which lines...

It came down to the wire but NBC just picked up a 22-episode sixth season of The Blacklist, from Sony Pictures TV. There is no final decision yet on the studio’s other bubble drama series, Timeless.
The Blacklist was a massive hit when it debuted in 2013 behind The Voice on Monday. It took a hit when the network in Season 2 relocated it to shore up Thursday night, using a post-Super Bowl airing to give it a pop. While The Blacklist never came close to the ratings heights of its first season on Monday, it has been a relatively consistent ratings performer, boosted by solid DVR gains.
In its new Wednesday 8 Pm slot this season, The Blacklist has averaged a 1.6 rating in 18-49 and 8.8 million viewers in L+7 to improve the time period by +19% in adults 18-49 vs. last year when recently renewed Blindspot aired there.

You may not think Drop Dead Diva when you watch tonight’s premiere of The Mob Doctor on Fox, but both shows share more than a little bit in common.

Just how much is Dr. Grace Devlin (Jordana Spiro) an anti-hero as she’s reluctantly pulled into the mob world? Will Grace find parts of the mob addictive? Because the show follows Bones, a crossover episode seems like a no-brainer, right? To get answers to those questions and more, TV Fanatic’s Jim Halterman sat down with Berman recently to dig deep into The Mob Doctor...

All right, you buncha undercooked couch potatoes, limber up your DVR and pretend like you don’t need any friends, it’s time for more junk TV.
Sleeper hit Burn Notice has its sixth season premiere tonight, and I’m betting the suits over at the USA Network haven’t been this pleased since they dug Silk Stalkings out of CBS’s garbage. Series creator Matt Nix had a chat with the good folks over at TVLine and he explains that this will be a very different season. Which, yes, every series creator says before a premiere, but I think Nix actually means it this time. As you may (or may not) recall, the end of last season found the sweet(?) and precious(!) Fiona in the slammer after she turned herself in for blowing up the consulate. This canny move totally threw a monkey wrench in Anson’s plans (Jere Burns,...

Wme-repped Kettner spent the last five years on the Fox dramedy Bones, rising to an executive producer this past season. Mob Doctor reunites her with Berman.
