Golden Globes host Jo Koy’s monologue was received poorly by both those in the room and many watching at home, but fellow comedians shared sympathy for their fellow comic — while also expressing discontent with his choice to blame his writers for the widely panned performance.
Comedian Laurie Kilmartin, who also hosts a podcast about the craft of comedy and wrote on “Conan,” was one of the prominent insider voices rising to Koy’s defense.
“This is a Terrible gig, this audience sucks,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the job Koy himself noted he was just hired for 10 days prior. “They’re famous, nervous and humorless, and 10 days is genuinely not enough time to write about 500 jokes, which is how many you need to find 15 suitable jokes.”
“She is right, if not lowballing it a little,” comedian Eliza Skinner told TheWrap. “It’s a wildly specific crowd — huge...

To the world, Andrew Koenig was an actor best known for playing Richard "Boner" Stabone in the 80s sitcom Growing Pains. But to his younger sister, Danielle, he was so much more. "Anything he did was thoughtful, really, in his creative life and in his activism life and in the way he dealt with people," she says of her 41-year-old older brother, who, after going missing last month, was found dead in Vancouver's Stanley Park on Feb. 25 - a victim of suicide. "He wrestled with depression and so there were obviously different sides to his personality, but he was also...

Last night (Wed. 2/24), Walter and Judy Levitt Koenig, the parents of missing "Growing Pains" actor Andrew Koenig, walked out on "Larry King Live," leaving the host dumbfounded as to why.
Media and fans speculated that the couple had heard some news about their son that required immediate attention to the possibility that Larry King had somehow offended them.
Danielle Koenig, Andrew's sister, says it's the latter.
"['Larry King Live'] kept pushing the segment back and my dad was growing frustrated," Danielle Koenig tells Zap2it exclusively. "When he realized there were only four-and-a-half minutes left, he didn't feel that was enough time to do my brother justice. So, he left."
After the couple left, Larry King announced live on the show that they were prepped to go on and seemed ready, then abruptly "got up and left for reasons unknown."
Afterward, he tweeted, "Still not sure what happened with the Koenigs. I talked...

In the most recent event in a story full of bizarre turns, missing "Growing Pains" star Andrew Koenig's parents Walter and Judy Levitt Koenig, walked out on their scheduled interview on "Larry King Live" today (Wed. Feb. 24).
"Folks, for some reason," Larry King said on the show. "[The parents of the missing Andrew Koenig] left the studio in Vancouver. We checked them out. They were prepared to go on. I said hello. They said hello. We said we'll be on in two minutes. They said fine and they got up and left for reasons unknown."
Afterward, King still expressed confusion over their abrupt departure tweeting, "Still not sure what happened with the Koenigs. I talked to them in the break and told them they were on next. Then they left..."
It's definitely a strange move for the couple, who recently flew to Vancouver and has stepped up the public appeal for information on their son's whereabouts.

Reports of new evidence of cell phone and Atm use in the case of missing "Growing Pains" actor Andrew Koenig are false, Koenig's sister maintains.
"I believe the electronic evidence to which the police referred is from last week and therefore not new evidence," Danielle Koenig tells Zap2it.
When we asked her if the police knew when and where Andrew's Atm and phone usage took place, she answered, "Actually no, they don't know."
Koenig says there have been no real advances in the case since last Saturday (Feb. 20) when Zap2it was the first to report her brother's disappearance with her confirmation.
The Vancouver Police Department released the following update on Andrew Koenig's case Tuesday:
"Cell phone and banking records up until the time he disappeared lead police to believe he is still in the Vancouver area. There has been no cell phone or bank activity since February...

Walter Koenig doesn't shy away from a challenge. Writing scripts is a tough gig. Getting movies produced, especially indie fare; not so easy. Writer-producer Koenig, however, waged -- and won -- a near-decade-long battle to bring InAlienable (2010) to the screen. A sci-fi thriller and legal drama, InAlienable follows the plight of a guilt-ridden scientist, Dr. Norris (Richard Hatch), who gives birth to an alien-human hybrid child, a child that then becomes the focal point of a legal case over whether it's a living entity with rights or an abomination that must be destroyed. Koenig -- beloved by millions of fans worldwide for his portrayal of Chekov in the original-cast Star Trek series and features -- co-stars in the film as Dr. Norris's bitter boss, Shilling, while other familiar genre names include Gary Graham, Marina Sirtis, Alan Ruck, Erick Avari, Richard Herd, and Courtney Peldon. InAlienable is out now on DVD from Anchor Bay,...
