After 26 years, there's actually a sequel to Nickelodeon's '90s comedy "Good Burger." Based on a sketch from "All That," the movie took the lovably dimwitted Good Burger employee Ed (Kel Mitchell) to the big screen and paired him with co-star Kenan Thompson for a zany caper about two competing burger joints. It has all the hallmarks of a classic screwball comedy from the 1980s, and believe it or not, it's still genuinely funny to this day. So how do you pick up the spatula again after so many years?
We spoke with "Good Burger 2" writers Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert and director Phil Traill leading up to the release of the sequel, which is now available on Paramount+, and we talked about returning to the franchise. Millennials rejoice! 26 years later, Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell are once again serving up fast-food morsels in the achingly-awaited "Good Burger 2." Folks who grew up on Nickelodeon's kid-friendly sketch comedy series "All That" have been clamoring for a return to the chaotically unclean confines of Good Burger, and now that it's here, I'll let those whose satiric sensibilities were partially formed by the original pass judgment on the quality of the sequel.
I do, however, know Sinbad. A comedic force of nature, I first saw the man rack up multiple wins on the Ed McMahon-hosted talent competition "Star Search" in the 1980s. I remember watching him besting a young Dennis Miller; this bothered me at the time, but considering Miller's career trajectory, I am firmly in Sinbad's camp. After all, who else possessed the bravery to ask which part of the chicken produced the Chicken McNugget?

Arriving a whopping 26 years after 1997’s cult-favorite Nickelodeon comedy, “Good Burger 2” fits the streaming-era trend in which audiences seek a nostalgia bump reconnecting with old favorites, like “Coming to America” or “Hocus Pocus” — not exactly classics so much as modest pleasures from more innocent times. In this obnoxiously unfunny followup from Paramount+, stars Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson return as hapless fast food employees. To update the story to 2023, director Phil Traill and screenwriters Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert add a few new characters and a tiresome AI plot, winding up with a Thanksgiving diversion that functions just fine playing in the background as families gather for their holiday meals.
The hook here is presumably a Kenan and Kel reunion, which the movie serves up without delay: Ed (Mitchell) now owns the Good Burger restaurant, where he serves as a benevolent boss, treating his employees with empathy while never...

Kel Mitchell was all smiles at the Good Burger 2 premiere in New York on Monday night, just days after he experienced a “genuinely frightening” medical incident.
The actor seemed to be in good spirits at the Regal Union Square event, where he was accompanied by wife Asia Lee-Mitchell and their children, with Kel and Asia carrying their excited kids down the carpet.
Later, when Mitchell’s longtime onscreen collaborator and Good Burger 2 co-star Kenan Thompson arrived, one of Mitchell’s kids ran straight to Thompson, who gave the child a hug.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter before the screening of the Paramount+ sequel, Mitchell insisted he’s “good,” something he’s said multiple times since the health scare.
But he also shared some perspective on the incident and indicated that he was happily persevering.

Mitchell did not disclose the specifics of his medical incident, but continued, “With the grace of God and the skill of the medical team, I’m not on the road to recovery at home, embraced by the love of my family. Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell are hungry to save their jobs in the first full trailer for Paramount+’s comedy sequel Good Burger 2.
The streaming service released the trailer Monday for director Phil Traill’s film that is set to launch Nov. 22. The movie centers on Dexter (Thompson) and Ed (Mitchell) reuniting as staff members at Good Burger as the pair attempt to help the struggling fast food establishment amid its parent company’s plans to grow the brand.
This footage shows plenty of hijinks for the two leads as they get reconnected. “It really means a lot that you came to see me,” Mitchell tells Thompson.
At a different point in the trailer, the guys learn that MegaCorp is planning to expand Good Burger globally but intends to fire the restaurant’s staff. “MegaCorp wants to replace everybody with robots,” Thompson warns. “We gotta do something!”
Jillian Bell and Lil Rel Howery co-star.

Awwww, here it goes! Kenan and Kel are back behind the counter at the home of the Good Burger. Paramount+ has just released the newest trailer for the sequel to the Nickelodeon feature film that stars Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell. Good Burger 2 brings back Dexter and Ed after 1997’s Good Burger had the duo take down the fast food conglomerate Mondo Burger. The trailer sports that classic slapstick comedy that defined their first show, All That, as well as featuring some appearances from some more of the cast members from the first movie in addition to the film’s stars.
Deadline has also featured some new stills from the film along with the release of the trailer. The synopsis reads, “Good Burger 2 follows Dexter (Thompson) and Ed (Mitchell) as they reunite in the present day at fast-food restaurant Good Burger with a hilarious new group of employees.

"Good Burger" is a rather unlikely success story of '90s kids' entertainment. Back in the '90s, Nickelodeon created a sketch comedy show titled "All That," which was essentially the kids' version of "Saturday Night Live." It ran absurd sketches and launched the careers of many actors like Amanda Bynes, Nick Cannon, Katrina Johnson, Jack DeSena, Kel Mitchell, and Kenan Thompson — who would go on to become the longest-reigning "SNL" cast member ever.
And just like "SNL," "All That" would see some sketches turn into spin-offs, with the biggest one being "Good Burger." In the sketches, Kenan and Kel starred as Dexter and Ed, two fast food joint workers who get into all sorts of hijinks. The movie was directed by Brian Robbins, who would go on to become president and CEO of Paramount Pictures.

In the 1990s, Nickelodeon created a sketch comedy show called "All That," an absurdist half-hour that was the kid's answer to "Saturday Night Live." The series ran for 10 seasons and served as the launchpad for performers like Nick Cannon, Amanda Bynes, Josh Server, Katrina Johnson, Lori Beth Denberg, Danny Tamberelli, Kel Mitchell, and the longest-reigning "SNL" cast member in history, Kenan Thompson. Like the adult series, "All That" birthed a handful of sketches that would get their own spin-offs, none more famous than "Good Burger."
Kenan and Kel starred as Dexter and Ed, getting into hijinks while working at a fast food joint that fans loved so much, they got their own movie. Now, over 25 years later, the classic combo is back with "Good Burger 2." Paramount+ and Nickelodeon Studios released a teaser trailer today, opening with Dexter hit by a car being driven by Ed, one that he's converted into a burger mobile.

Dex (Kenan Thompson) and Ed (Kel Mitchell) are ready to take your order once again in Good Burger 2, a sequel to the beloved Nickelodeon movie. Ahead of its release on Paramount+ this fall, the first teaser trailer is streaming below.
In the new film, Dex is down on his luck after another one of his inventions fails, and he’s forced to take a job at Good Burger. He devises a plan to get back on his feet but puts the fate of Good Burger at risk in the process.
The clip begins with Ed running Dex over with his Burgermobile before the two head back to the kitchen. In another scene, Ed accepts a pitcher of water from a waiter by testing out whether or not the offering is, in fact, water — proof the movie won’t be one of those ill-fated attempts to revamp kids shows with adult humor.

"Good Burger" is one of those movies that only make sense if you saw it as a young kid. The 1997 comedy by Brian Robbins and written by Dan Schneider, Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert is based on the comedy sketch of the same name from the show "All That," the Nickelodeon equivalent to all those movies based on "Saturday Night Live" sketches. This is a deeply bizarre movie, not really well made, but nevertheless a weirdly hilarious movie that has garnered a cult following among '90s kids.
That film stars Kenan Thompson as Dexter, a slacker high-school student, and Kel Mitchell as Ed, a cashier at the Good Burger joint. The plot involves Ed and Dexter slowly becoming friends as they try to save the burger joint from closing as the grand opening of the giant new burger restaurant chain across the street is approaching. Yes, the kid is annoying. Yes, the movie doesn’t reach the heights of a McTiernan/Black team-up as well as one might think. It’s interesting to note that McTiernan isn’t working as much...

Before you start spewing out the names of Hollywood's most annoying men as if some sort of gag reflex has taken over your -- Rob Schneider! -- body, let me set this up for you: Variety tells us Disney has picked up a comedy script called The World's Most Annoying Man, written by Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert (those magicians behind Nick's Kenan and Kel), and so far no one has approached me to star ... which is good, I suppose. There's no director or cast attached yet, but Andy Fickman (director of upcoming Race to Witch Mountain) is producing.
And what could a film called The World's Most Annoying Man possibly be about? Animated squirrel chess champions? Um, no. Actually, the film will tell of a man who must travel across the country with his really annoying brother en route to his own wedding. Kinda sounds like Tommy Boy (or...

Disney has purchased the comedy spec script ”The World’s Most Annoying Man” from Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert for Andy Fickman to produce, says Variety. The plot revolves around a man who is forced to travel cross-country with his annoying brother in order to get to his own wedding. Kopelow and Seifert are co-exec producers on Disney Channel’s new series “Jonas,” starring the Jonas Brothers. Kopelow was a writer on Nickelodeon’s TV series “Kenan and Kel” and penned the feature comedy “Good Burger,” while Seifert also wrote for the kids cabler’s shows “Kenan and Kel” and “All That.” Fickman will produce the comedy through his Oops Doughnuts company with partner Betsy Sullenger. Fickman most recently helmed “Race to Witch Mountain” at the Mouse House. That pic, starring Dwayne Johnson, will unspool next year. He also helmed comedies “The Game Plan” and “She’s the Man.” Check...

When you're on a road trip with your family, everyone in the car is the world's most annoying person. But brothers probably take the cake-- they take up all the room in the backseat, they throw stuff at you, and their music taste is terrible. So Disney is smart to make a brother the title character in The World's Most Annoying Man, a spec script they've just picked up from writers Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert. Variety writes that the screenwriters are veterans of Nickelodeon hits like All That and Kenan & Kel, which makes me even more convinced they understand the true horrors of siblings on car trips. While the movie is actually about adults, two brothers traveling cross-country to get to one brother's wedding, we all know that adults in Disney movies are basically grown-up kids. At least one of them will have the luxury of the entire ...
