Farrah Forke, who played helicopter pilot Alex Lambert, and Steven Weber’s love interest on NBC sitcom “Wings,” has died after battling cancer for several years, her family announced. She was 54.
“Farrah was fierce, tender, loyal, loving, strong, funny, smart, protective, kind, passionate and utterly irreplaceable,” a family statement shared to The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday read. “She brought a light so great to the world that even after her passing, the light remains.”
Forke died Friday at her home in Texas.
Among other acting credits, she had a recurring role as lawyer Mayson Drake on the second season of ABC’s “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” and voiced superhero Big Barda on DC animated series “Batman Beyond” and “Justice League Unlimited.” Her film credits include Barry Levinson’s “Disclosure” and Michael Mann’s “Heat.”
Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, Forke attended the private girls school Hockaday School in Dallas.

Alex Uttley made his reality TV debut on tonight’s Britain’s Got Talent, when his gymnastic group ‘Spellbound‘ wowed the crowd with their adventurous routine.
Amanda Holden described the group’s performance as “faultless”, while Piers Morgan talked about “this thrilling conclusion that had this whole theatre going crazy” but the champion world and European medalist told The Daily Star that he just felt lucky to have made it back into the world of gymnastics, after he was paralyzed by a rare infection five years ago.
Now 24, at the age of 19 Alex was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome after getting an ear infection.
He told the newspaper:
“It started off as an ear infection and then all of a sudden I couldn’t walk or lift my arms.
“Half my face was paralysed too. I could move a little but I couldn’t walk.
“I had to be pushed around in a wheelchair.

New stage set-up. New announcer. New Top 12. This is "American Idol." Well, click through for a full recap of tonight's episode. [And also check out my interviews with the Top 12.] Singer: Michael Lynche Song: "Miss You" My Take: It's pretty much impossible not to like Michael Lynche. First up tonight for the Idol ladies is Crystal Bowersox. (Last night's performance wrap up is here) It wasn't known if Crystal would be able to perform tonight after dealing with a medical condition yesterday, (diabetes complications is the word on the web, which she confirmed on her facebook page and says she's doing well) but she's back and she's ready to roll, telling Ryan she's feeling good---"I'm a tough cookie", she says. Read on for tonight's live Idol highlights, song choices and judges reactions:
Crystal Bowersox---"Long As I Can See the Light" (Creedence Clearwater) Randy loves that she is not trying to be anyone else; he loves 'that girl'. Ellen says, 'pure, raw, natural talent' and she's so glad she's still in the competition. Kara says this song is who she is and Simon says he completely misunderestimated her last week.....saying, "this is like the moment...

The only thing Alex and Adam Lambert have in common is a last name, the fact that they both have first names that start with A and the fact that they have both appeared on "American Idol." Adam was last season's early frontrunner and Alex is an underdog this time around. And while both characters have unique hair, no one has ever given Adam a hard time for having a mullet the way they've done with Alex.
At first glance (or at any glance, really), it looks as though there couldn't be more space between these two "Idol" stars. Adam is a over-the-top, glammy Los Angeles native, whereas Alex is a more straight-laced looking Texan. So considering they have the same initials and even the same name, we wanted to know what it would look like if Alex got Glambertized and became Adam.
The results are certainly ... interesting. We're going to go with "mildly disturbing.

Highlights, song choices and judges input from tonight's Top Ten Idol Guy Performances:
Michael Lynche--"This is a Man's World" (James Brown)--Rave reviews from all judges; Randy gave him a standing ovation. Simon said 'completely different from last week'. (Sure kept my attention!)
John Park-----"Gravity" (John Mayer)---Randy says it wasn't special with a few pitch problems. Ellen and Kara agree it was better than last week, but needed soul and connection to the audience. Simon says he thinks John will be returning to his own band this week. (Pretty forgettable.)
Casey James----"I Don't Wanna Be" (Gavin Degraw)---Randy praised his guitar playing, saying he was channeling Hendrix. Ellen says she wants to see him perform more. (??) Kara says Casey took two steps backwards for her and his singing wasn't distinct or on key. Simon says he was trying to be a rock star and agrees...

"American Idol" has joined the rest of the social media world.
Most years, the Idols are kept in an underground dungeon, only let out on Tuesday or Wednesday nights to perform like monkeys for 33 million people.
Just kidding. But most years, the Idols are kept on a pretty tight leash. This year, the leash is relaxing just a little bit, as the Idols are allowed to have Twitter accounts and Facebook and MySpace pages. (Which we're sure will still be monitored, but it's still cool!)
Ryan Seacrest tweeted Wednesday night: "Fox is saying the contestants will have MySpace, Twitter, Facebook pages on idol." Here are the accounts. Thank you to Mj's Big Blog and Rickey for compiling these lists.

I'd like to start this "American Idol" recap with a new game that I like to call "Porn Dialogue or 'Idol' Conversation?"
Man: Fancy seeing you here.
Woman: I like that word fancy. Fancy. You're very '70s. I like that about you. What is it with the '70s and you?
Man: All my idols are from the '60s and '70s. You know, Robert Plant, Roger Daltry, Morrison.
Woman: Did you get some of your moves from them? Where do you get those moves?
Man: I actually have a lot of rock DVDs and I watch a lot of old concerts.
Woman: Do you think you'll bring some of those moves if you stay?
Man: Whatever kind of moves you want, I'll give you.
Woman: Really? I think we wanna see those moves again, and you're gonna go through.
That was an exchange between Kara DioGuardi...

It was the moment of truth for the Hollywood Week contestants on "American Idol." On Wednesday night, dreams were fulfilled, while others were slashed, as Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi, Randy Jackson, and Ellen DeGeneres announced the final 24 contestants. Janell Wheeler, 24, from Tampa, Fl was elated that she will progress to the show’s next round. She burst out of the theater doors to Ryan Seacrest and pronounced, "If I was Bikini Girl, I'd kiss you right now." Not everyone was a rookie auditioner. Lacey Brown, 24, returned after not making it through last year. She impressed the judges with her rendition of "What a Wonderful World," which offered as background vocals for a montage of other contestants receiving good news. Unfortunately, not all veterans to the "Idol" stage were so lucky. Angela Martin met a disappointing fate for the third time. The mother of a special needs daughter had to pull...

"American Idol's" Hollywood Week has concluded and judges Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres, Kara Dioguardi and Randy Jackson have sealed the fate of Season 9's hopefuls.
The Top 24 has been chosen and this year's male dozen and female dozen of contenders are about to embark on a journey of a lifetime. So besides revealing the list of this year's soon-to-be-household names what else do we know so far:
1. Ellen DeGeneres is just the shot in the arm that the show needed. 24 contestants who survive the Hollywood week on "American Idol" this season include judges' favorite Andrew Garcia. He was pitted against Thaddeus Johnson in the last spot for the 12 guys. Ellen DeGeneres said that Thaddeus was great but unfortunately not great enough to advance to the next round.
In the first half of the show, the judges had given admittance tickets to Tim Urban, Janell Wheeler, Tyler Grady and Lacey Brown. The latest one made it to the Top 50 in season 8 but she was cut in the Top 36 when the judges picked Meagan Joy over her. In the next few minutes, the judges passed along the good news to Joe Munoz, Ashley Rodriguez, and Alex Lambert.
Crystal Bowersox, a mother of one who amazed the audience in the first Hollywood round with her rendition of "Natural Woman", is in the Top 24 and so is 17-year-old Katie Stevens. After a montage of people who are sent home,...

In an "American Idol" first, seven contenders for the season-nine top 24 were revealed during Tuesday's show. On Wednesday (February 17), the 17 remaining semifinalists were unveiled. Now, you can reacquaint yourself with those singers before next week's live shows kick off:
Andrew Garcia
While Garcia's story about his parents' gangbanger past and trying to make a better life for his kid earned him some audition-round screen time, his Hollywood Week performances are what set him apart from the pack. His acoustic reworkings of female-fronted songs — Paula Abdul's "Straight Up" and Adele's "Chasing Pavements" — earned him a ride to the top 24.
Katie Stevens
The precocious 16-year-old caught our attention with her old-soul vocal chops and compelling backstory. She backed up the positive first impression with Stevie Wonder...

With a wait almost as painful as the one the contestants went through, "American Idol" fans finally got the rest of this year's top 24 on Wednesday night (February 17), with a number of early favorites making the semifinals, including Andrew Garcia, Crystal Bowersox, Katie Stevens, Ashley Rodriguez and Haeley Vaughn.
After seven singers made the cut on Tuesday, the first woman through the gate on night two was Orlando's Janell Wheeler, 24, whose Hollywood Week was filled with ups and downs, swinging between a strong acoustic performance of Estelle's "American Boy" to a blown take of Taylor Swift's "Love Story." New judge Ellen DeGeneres kept up her rope-a-dope style, seemingly setting the blond wine-sales rep up for disappointment only to wave Wheeler through.

I imagine Tuesday night's (February 16) "American Idol" was a lot like watching Brangelina's vacation videos. On one hand, you think you should care because it's Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and their 14 children on a banana boat. But on the other hand, if you've seen one family vacation home video, you've seen them all. Nine seasons in, the final Hollyweek episodes are as old hat and predictable as an ensemble romantic comedy.
There just wasn't enough drama to sustain an hour of "Idol," let alone two. Yep, "Idol" decided last week that the Olympics were on and holy crap we need to do something desperate fans deserved an extra bonus hour of Hollywood week to help us get to know the Top 24 better.
Ironically, out of the seven names they revealed a day earlier than usual, only one was that of a contestant we hadn't seen that much of before.

Tens of thousands of potential "American Idol" winners became 181 Hollywood Week hopefuls who were then considered, criticized and often condemned until 71 singers gained passage to the next round at Los Angeles' Kodak Theatre. Tuesday night's (February 16) show saw that number winnowed once again as the first crooners of the top 24 were announced by Simon Cowell and his fellow "Idol" judges.
Early notable contestants Casey James (he of the shirtless Denver audition), Michael "Big Mike" Lynche (the hulking guy who skipped the birth of his child in favor of a stay at Hollywood Week) and Didi Benami (who sang Sarah McLachlan's "Angel" in memory of her deceased best friend) all made the top 24. Joining them were dancer-turned-singer Todrick Hall, curly-haired Duffy-ite Katelyn Epperly, high-schooler Aaron Kelly and singer-songwriter Lee Dewyze.

The Dreamers started off as a threesome, but Hope Johnson and Erin Hundley forced themselves upon the team and soon three became five.
The new lineup led to some tension between the two alpha females Mary Powers and Hope Johnson and the pressure really got to Mary, who even fought with the vocal coach and yelled at Alex.
In the end, the discord came through in their performance, and only three of the five made it through: Powers, Johnson and Alex Lambert.

The second episode of the Hollywood Round begins with the remaining 96 contestants dividing up for the group round and agreeing a song. Tori Kelly, Maddie Penrose, Mark Labriola, Danny Jones and Kimberly Kebrow, who all got through in the Denver Round, make up the Mighty Rangers. Ben Honeycutt, Jeff Goldford, Moorea Masa, Jermaine Sellers and Kate Nestell decide to form Phoenix. The Dreamers face more of a problem forming a group. Mary Powers, Alex Lambert, Margo May start as a trio, but are later joined by Hope Johnson and Erin Hunley. Alex claims that Hope and Erin "forced their way into the group". Groups Neopolitan and Destiny's Wild compete with each other as they both rehearse Lady GaGa's 'Bad Romance' in the same space. Next door, The Dreamers face further problems as Mary is accused of "taking charge" of the group. Meanwhile, 'Big Mike' (more)...

Hollywood Week(s) continued on "American Idol" on Wednesday night (February 10). Ryan Seacrest apparently calls this portion of the program "Hell Week." This just in: "American Idol" is now taking cues from sororities! I can't wait until next week's episode, when all the contestants lay naked on the floor while Kara DioGuardi circles body fat with a Sharpie.
Wednesday night was the dreaded "Group Night," where, like every other season, the remaining 96 hopefuls broke off into small groups, took over hallways and lobbies of a hotel in California and sang Motown tunes into half-empty water bottles all through the night. (Seriously, I hope "Idol" buys out that entire hotel. Imagine the phone calls the front desk guy must get at four in the morning: "They're still singing 'Get Ready' in the hallway!" "Two people are screaming about choreography outside my door." "I accidentally bought a porno flick 90 minutes ago. I won't be charged,...

This week on "American Idol", 96 people were slimmed down to 71 in the second Hollywood round. These singer wannabes were grouped in three, four or five and they had to harmonize as well as choreograph a move. Elimination however, is based on individual performance.
First one to come up on stage was Faith, consisting of Charity Vance, Michelle Delamour, and Nicole Rodriguez. They sang Beyonce Knowles' "Irreplaceable" and they all went through. Next was Team Awesome which grouped Michael Lynche, Tim Urban, Michael Castro and Seth Rollins. Unlike Faith, this lots got split into half with Michael and Tim advancing.
Neapolitan got into trouble but not from the judges. They (Liz Rooney, Thaddeus Johnson and Jessica Cunningham and another girl) double crossed another group Destiny's Wild by ripping off the idea of doing an a capella of Lady GaGa's "Bad Romance". Despite it all, all four of them made it.

As usual, chaos, quarreling and drama ruled on group night on "American Idol." Wednesday's show found the 95 remaining singers shoehorning themselves into unnatural combinations that mostly upped the already tension-filled pressure-cooker atmosphere as battle lines were drawn over choreography, harmony, personality and anything else worth arguing about.
Tears were shed, fingers were pointed, and lyrics were blown time and again, as the groups spent the traditional sleepless night working on their steps and trying to find their groove. Meanwhile, viewers' heartstrings were pulled by big Michael Lynche monitoring his wife's labor on his cell phone and listening as his daughter was born across the continent in New York.
