Exclusive: Another top Comedy Central executive is exiting in the fallout from the ViacomCBS merger. Sarah Babineau, Head of Comedy Central Content & Creative Enterprises, will be departing Comedy Central at the end of the year. The news comes two months after she was promoted to the high-level creative post within ViacomCBS’ Entertainment & Youth unit. I hear she is among a slew of senior executives that are being let go at the network, which is in the midst of post-ViacomCBS merger layoffs.
As part of the post-merger integration at the new Entertainment & Youth division, run by Chris McCarthy, there will be a further consolidation of top creative executives under Nina L. Diaz, President of Content and Chief Creative Officer for the entire group, I have learned.

Reno 911! will soon walk the television beat once again, this time on streaming platform Quibi.
Last December, it was announced that Quibi—a short-form streaming service backed by the coffers of Jeffrey Katzenberg and six major studio investors—will be the platform on which the Reno 911! revival manifests. Indeed, the classification as a “revival” is accurate, since this will be a proper continuation of the popular Cops-parodying mockumentary series, which originally ran on Comedy Central for six seasons (2003-2009). Thus, this is essentially a belated release of Reno 911! Season 7, albeit in a shorter form than we remember.
Original series creators (and main cast members) Thomas Lennon, Robert Ben Garant and Kerri Kenney-Silver return to write and star in the Reno revival. They will be joined by Artists First’s Peter Principato, who serves as an executive producer, joined in that capacity by Danny DeVito and Jersey Television...

The executive restructuring within the new Entertainment & Youth cable division of VicaomCBS continues. Amy Doyle, a 20-year MTV Networks veteran, is stepping down from her post as Evp and general manager of MTV, VH1, Cmt and Logo. She will stay through the spring to help with the transition.
Doyle’s exit from the company was just announced internally by Chris McCarthy, President, Entertainment & Youth Brands, ViacomCBS Domestic Media Networks, to whom Doyle reports. The recently formed Entertainment & Youth Group, run by McCarthy, encompasses MTV, Comedy Central, Paramount Network, Smithsonian Channel, VH1, Pop, Cmt, TV Land, Logo and their respective content studios.
Doyle is not expected to be replaced, with her duties assumed by senior executives in the division.

Amy Doyle is stepping down from her role as general manager for MTV, VH1, Cmt and Logo, Chris McCarthy informed his staff Tuesday morning.
An individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap that it was “entirely” Doyle’s decision to exit her position and that the longtime Viacom exec will be staying on with the company through the spring to assist McCarthy, president of ViacomCBS’s entertainment and youth group, with the transition.
“The list of entertaining and culturally relevant events and shows Amy helped to bring to life is as large and diverse as her taste in music,” McCarthy wrote in his memo to employees regarding Doyle’s exit. “From the reinvention of the Movie & TV Awards, to so many unforgettable VMAs, Woodies, Trailblazers, Divas, Hip Hop Honors and many more. The Entertainment & Youth unit is comprised by VH1, MTV, Cmt, Comedy Central, TV Land, Paramount Network, Logo, Smithsonian Channel — and as of yesterday Pop TV, previously controlled by CBS. Comedy Central is staying in business with Daniel Tosh. The network and Tosh have closed an overall deal that includes a four-season, 80-episode extension for Tosh.O, as part of a first-look deal that would take the long-running franchise through its 16th season.
The deal would cover new scripted and unscripted development that would potentially feature Tosh on camera, as well as vehicles for other talent. Comedy Central and Tosh are currently in discussions for an unscripted series in which Tosh would host and executive produce and a script deal for which he would serve as an executive producer. Additionally, Comedy Central will launch a dedicated Tosh.0 channel on YouTube in early 2020 and today launched a Tosh.0 channel on Pluto TV, the leading free streaming television service in the U.S. The extension and deal were announced Tuesday as part of Comedy Central’s presentation at the TCA Winter Press Tour.

Comedy Central has greenlighted a new comedic documentary from Peabody Award-winning comedian-activist D.L. Hughley. How Not to Get Shot and Other Advice from White People is based on his New York Times bestseller of the same name.
The hourlong docu-comedy, which Hughley also will executive produce, follows him into the field to explore the state of race in America. By following behavioral advice given to African Americans, will Hughley make all the problems of race in America disappear, or will he bring systemic prejudice to light?
“I look forward to working with Comedy Central on this documentary, where we’ll get to explore deeper into the state of race as I see it today — and then, leave it to me to point out the absurd,” Hughley said. “I dig how Comedy Central saw How Not to Get Shot as I did, knowing the conversation would extend far beyond the length of a book.

Veteran Daily Show correspondent Roy Wood Jr. has signed a first-look development deal with Comedy Central that covers content for television and new media. Under the pact, Woods will headline his third one-hour stand-up special for the network and will also write and star in an original digital series titled The Night Pigeon.
Separate from the new pact, Comedy Central has given a pilot green light to Wood’s Jefferson County: Probation, from Trevor Noah & Aaron McGruder. The project, which had been in the works at Comedy Central for a year, will film in Wood’s hometown of Birmingham, Alabama this May.
Written by Wood and Aaron McGruder (Boondocks), Jefferson County: Probation is based on Wood’s early life. It stars him as a probation officer willing to bend the rules to help the clients he monitors, much to the chagrin of his partner and everyone else in his life.

Jordan Klepper’s new documentary series Klepper premieres Thursday, May 9 at 10:30 Pm, with the debut episode spotlighting veterans who are using wrestling to cope with Ptsd.
Upcoming episodes will center on a direct-action protest of a major oil pipeline, and civil disobedience in the name of education for undocumented students.
Don’t expect to see much of Klepper behind a desk in New York City. Instead, he’s sinking in a boat with environmental protesters in a Louisiana bayou, packing moving boxes with one of the nation’s first Native American congresswomen in New Mexico, and posting bail at the Fulton County Jail.
“When Jordan said he wanted to travel the country to explore our most pressing issues and talk to the people on the front lines fighting for change, little did we know that he would capsize a boat in the Bayou or get arrested in Georgia,” Comedy Central...
