The Filipino singer and Glee guest star formerly known as Charice Pempengco now goes by the new name, Jake Zyrus.
Zyrus, 25, debuted the new moniker on Twitter and Instagram Sunday — almost three years after revealing to Oprah Winfrey that “my soul is male.”
Since rising to international stardom in late 2007, the Tagaytay native became the first Asian solo singer in history to land in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 albums chart with the release of 2010’s Charice, which debuted at No. 8.
Since the episode of Winfrey’s Where Are They Now? aired in October 2014, Zyrus has kept a low-profile — until now.

Since any New York cinephile has a nearly suffocating wealth of theatrical options, we figured it’d be best to compile some of the more worthwhile repertory showings into one handy list. Displayed below are a few of the city’s most reliable theaters and links to screenings of their weekend offerings — films you’re not likely to see in a theater again anytime soon, and many of which are, also, on 35mm. If you have a chance to attend any of these, we’re of the mind that it’s time extremely well-spent.

Before his masterful Sunset Song begins its U.S. run, Terence Davies will be given a complete retrospective at MoMI. His self-titled trilogy screens on Saturday and Sunday; the latter day also brings Distant Voices, Still Lives and, with a post-screening Q & A to boot, The Long Day Closes.

“Back to the middle and around again,” sings Crystal Waters in “100% Pure Love” — one of my favorite radio hits of the 1990s.
And yowza, do those lyrics ever apply to this week’s installment of The Good Wife — not just because the case of the week centers on copyright infringement in popular music, either.

Ever since the death of Will Gardner, the core characters of CBS’ Sunday-night drama have been doing their best impressions of hamsters on wheels — working themselves into sweaty lathers but winding up exactly where they started their journeys.

I remember playing The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition on my 3Ds back in 2011 and simultaneously texting some friends eagerly looking for a time to get together so we could tackle the game together as it was truly meant to be played. I remember even more vividly my disappointment when I saw that the game wasn’t given an online feature, despite the 3Ds being a capable machine, and thinking what a wasted opportunity it was giving fans this gift, meant to be enjoyed together, but not ensuring they have an easy opportunity to play with others. Consequently, I never got around to playing the game with my 3Ds owning friends, and was instead stuck with a dull single player experience. One certainly is the loneliest number. Since then, I have hoped against hope that Nintendo would rerelease the game with online capabilities. Whether that meant a full update with enhanced graphics,...
