Time and again, the X-Men saga has proved to be Marvel Comics’ key source of bold, hard-hitting, poignant storytelling, with the stories of mutants acting as an allegorized account of the real-world treatment of the marginalized sections of society. With the latest episode of X-Men ’97, titled Remember It, viewers are once again reminded of the scope of such narratives, as a devastating tragedy taking place in the mutant nation of Genosha almost reminds us of an ongoing real-world crisis.

Spoilers ahead for "X-Men '97."
"X-Men '97" is arguably the greatest thing Marvel Studios has produced since "Avengers: Endgame," a gorgeously designed and animated cartoon that captures the spirit of the original '90s show while doubling down on the themes and interpersonal drama that makes the "X-Men" comics so unique. But while the first four episodes were a good mix of nostalgia and fun new adventures, episode five ended with the biggest, darkest moment in the entire show — and it is only the beginning.
Beau DeMayo, the creator who was fired a week before the show's premiere, took to Twitter to explain that this was always planned to be a turning point in the story.
"My plan was the first half of the season is the Og audiences pre-9/11 days, rife with nostalgia and comfort," DeMayo wrote. "Then 9/11 — like Tulsa and other mass tragedies — turned the world upside down...

'The X-Men are No Friends to the Morlocks': Line Explained
Episode 5 of X-Men 97 sent fans into a tailspin with a single line of dialogue: "The X-Men are no friends to the Morlocks." What does that mean?
As the Godzilla Sentinels wreak havoc across Genosha, the Morlocks take shelter underground, but still hold out some hope for rescue.

A cursory glance at B-movie maven Charles Band’s filmography reveals a long-standing fascination with little creatures, permeating a great number of Full Moon Features’ productions. The diminutive monsters lend themselves well to Full Moon’s latest merchandising venture, blind box collectibles dubbed Tiny Terrors.
The first series features 10 classic Full Moon characters with odds between 1/24 and 1/8: Blade, Tunneler, Leech Woman, Torch, and Six Shooter from the Puppet Master franchise, Jack Attack and Baby Oopsie from Demonic Toys, Radu from Subspecies, Eebee from Evil Bong, and The Gingerdead Man. Blade and Eebee also have translucent chase variants.
Wrapped in foil packaging within a 4.75″ box, each vinyl figure stands between about 3″ and 4.5″ inches tall. Tunneler is the shortest, since he’s bent over in attack position — a fine concept, though in practice it’s more difficult to display than the rest — while Torch is the biggest, thanks to his helmet spear.

Unfortunately I had some trouble getting all my comics on time this month to review them. On the positive, that means there will be a bumper review instalment next time round and there are some really good things to be unpack! I didn’t want to go a month without A Wolverine Wednesday so I thought I would stretch my creative muscles. It may seem a little self-indulgent, but I hope you find as fun as I did. Without further ado let’s jump into…
The Adventures of Wolverteen
Hopefully the title is self-explanatory? If not here it is in a nutshell. I can’t remember what sparked it but I got thinking about what if Wolverine when first created was a teenager like much of the Silver Age of the Marvel Universe. Many would argue Laura Kinney is an examination of if Wolverine was a teenager. But with my idea,...

Full Moon recently started taking a different approach to their long-running Puppet Master franchise. Rather than continue making Puppet Master movies that feature multiple puppets, they’re now focusing on solo puppet movies. These solo spin-offs got started with Blade: The Iron Cross in 2020 and continued with last year’s Puppet Master: Doktor Death. Now, in a new episode of his Full Moon Universe YouTube show, Full Moon founder Charles Band has announced that the next entry in the Puppet Master franchise is the solo puppet movie Puppet Master: Furnace Leech Woman.
It’s a bit odd that the movie isn’t just being called Puppet Master: Leech Woman, but there is reason for the addition of “Furnace” in there. Since late last year, Full Moon has been giving out replica puppets that are designed to look like the puppet Leech Woman after she was burned in a furnace in Puppet Master II.

Now This is "Chainsaw Man!" The first three episodes were great, but they felt more like appetizers meant to give us a taste of the different elements that make up the show. This week we get our first actual meal, mixing stunning action, great moments of juvenile humor, exquisite animation, and a lot of heart. The result is absolutely delicious.
"Rescue" begins with a flashback showing Power making a life with her cat Meowy, living in the woods and hunting wild bears for food. After Meowy is kidnapped by the Bat Devil, Power contemplates why she is actually going along with the devil's plan, and risking her life to find him a human to feed on just to save a cat. Despite her being a fiend, and despite her manic behavior, Power genuinely cares about her cat, and after a gross speech about her desire for blood, she realizes she...

Stars: Graham Skipper, Jeremy Gardner, Taylor Zaudtke, Rigo Garay | Written and Directed by Eric Pennycoff
Father David (Graham Skipper) is a devout priest who lives by the bible’s doctrine to be a Good Samaritan at all times. So he is more than happy to welcome a struggling homeless couple Terry and Lexi, played by Jeremy Gardner and Taylor Zaudtke respectively, into his house during the season of goodwill. But what begins as a simple act of kindness and Christmas charity quickly becomes the ultimate test of faith once the sanctity of his home is jeopardised…
Sadistic Intentions writer-director Eric Pennycoff returns with actor Jeremy Gardner for The Leech, which could easily have been titled Good Intentions – for that’s what our lead character Father David has but – of course – there are those in the world who would prey on people’s goodwill and that’s certainly the case here.

Downton Abbey alum Allen Leech and Normal People star India Mullen are set to lead the cast of The Vanishing Triangle, an upcoming Irish drama series for AMC Network’s Sundance Now. As reported by Deadline, the pair will headline the six-part series, which is expected to start production later this year in the U.S., U.K., and Ireland. The show (and its title) is inspired by real-life events that shook Ireland in the 1990s when several women began disappearing, starting when American woman Annie McCarrick went missing in the spring of 1993. Mullen will portray reporter Lisa Wallace, who faces prejudice and police incompetence while attempting to investigate the mysterious murder of her own mother nearly 20 years earlier. Leech, meanwhile, will play David Burke, a detective helping with Lisa’s case but who is dealing with his own struggles regarding his sexuality. The project comes from Ireland’s Park Films,...

Exclusive: Allen Leech and India Mullen will lead the cast of an Irish drama series for AMC Networks’ Sundance Now and local broadcaster Virgin Media Television, we’ve learned.
The pair will topline six-part drama The Vanishing Triangle, which goes into production later this year with a U.S.-UK-Ireland production set-up, and Eccho Rights attached as international distributor. The show is inspired on true events that shook Ireland in the 1990s, when several women disappeared. While the characters and events in the series are fictional, the producers have spoken to several of the real life victims’ families, and hope the show will keep their stories in the Irish public’s mind. The show title is regularly used in the Irish media to refer to the events, which began with the disappearance of American woman Annie McCarrick in 1993 and spiraled to involve many similar cases.

‘You Can’t Run Forever’ First Look: J.K. Simmons Stars In Thriller From Director Michelle Schumacher
Exclusive: Deadline has the first stills from the thriller You Can’t Run Forever, starring Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons (Whiplash), which has just wrapped principal photography.
The film formerly titled The Woods is a rollercoaster ride that follows a sociopathic killer as he hunts a tormented teenager through the woods. Its cast also includes Allen Leech (Downton Abbey: A New Era) and Fernanda Urrejola (Cry Macho). Simmons’ wife Michelle Schumacher (I’m Not Here) directed from her and Carolyn J. Carpenter’s script, with Randle Schumacher producing for Rubber Tree Productions.
“One of the things I loved about the script was the mystery of ‘why’ and the stark reality that sometimes knowing the answer to that question only raises more questions,” Simmons tells Deadline. “But there’s no question that this movie is going to scare the hell out of people.”
“The film is about trauma and survival, and about how...
