- Nominated in 1986 for The Costume Design Emmy Category, "Murder, She Wrote - Widow Weep For Me", Al Lehman won his Emmy Award for the television mystery series featuring Angel Lansbury. "Jessica Fletcher" began the 1984-85 pilot season dressed as a frumpy tweedy tailored English mystery writer living in Cabot Cove, Maine. Angela insisted her "Jessica Fletcher" character should have more of a stylish look. Part of this fashion transition was to incorporate the "turbin" head gear Angela had worn in the Jerry Herman Broadway musical "Mame". The "turbin" head pieces were made in New York by the costume house who had provided the head-pieces for the Broadway stage production. Angela dictated her costume upgrade from frumpy to stylish! The producers, consenting with the demand, allowed the upgrade in costume treatments. Angela Lansbury, after Al won his Emmy, always thought she deserved half the credit for his award.
- Al Lehman arrived in Hollywood, from stage and television work in New York City, in the mid-late 60s, interviewing with Jim Trittipo at the Hollywood Palace theater's design office. As New York based scenic designers and costume designers, both Jim and Al had mutual business contacts and friends; in this association, was Romain Johnston. This group of designers worked together on many projects.
- Costuming the NBC TV-Universal MCA "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century", star Gil Gerard's white skin tight space suit became a tale tell weight problem for the feature actor! Producer Bruce Lansbury dictated that Gil stay away from the daily stage craft service buffet, demanding he diet. Al nick named Gil "the white Polish sausage" because his costume had to expand with each weight gain.
