- Jan Lenica was born on January 4, 1928 in Poznan, Wielkopolskie, Poland. He was a director and writer, known for Adam 2 (1968), Rhinoceros (1964) and Labyrinth (1963). He died on October 5, 2001 in Berlin, Germany.
- Influential animator/director, often of macabre, nightmarish visions in the vein of Bosch or Lovecraft. Former magazine illustrator, trained as a graphic artist, with other qualifications in music and architecture. Early in his career designed award-winning posters for screen and stage.
- His sister Danuta was a book illustrator. Her husband was the famous writer-director Tadeusz Konwicki.
