It's official: Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are Washington D.C. residents! The former president and first lady have been renting a home in the capital since they moved out of the White House in January, and now they've decided to officially make the big purchase. "Given that President and Mrs. Obama will be in Washington for at least another two and a half years, it made sense for them to buy a home rather than continuing to rent property," spokesperson Kevin Lewis said in a statement to People. The decision to find a permanent home in D.C. should really come as no surprise considering the Obama's previously stated they would be staying in the area until their youngest daughter,...

Donald Trump’s claim that former president Barack Obama had Trump Tower wiretapped prior to the 2016 presidential election is “unequivocally false,” a spokesman for Obama said Saturday. “Neither @barackobama nor any Wh official under Obama has ever ordered surveillance on any U.S. Citizen. Any suggestion is unequivocally false,” Obama spokesman Kevin Lewis tweeted in response to the claim. In a statement, Lewis continued, “A cardinal rule of the Obama Administration was that no White House official ever interfered with any independent investigation led by the Department of Justice.” As part of that practice, neither President Obama nor any White House official.

Tony Jaa is one of the most talked about Action stars in the world, with his ground-breaking action and stunt work, he will certainly be around for a long, long time. The first time i seen Tony in Ong Bak, i could not believe what i was seeing, just incredible stuff i had not seen since the first time i watched Jackie Chan in Police Story. Hard hitting fight scenes, excellent stunt work, incredible flexibility, and just had a fresh approach of Martial Arts movie making.
Apart from starring in movies, Tony has also been stunt work in Mortal Kombat Annihilation for the character Liu Kang (Robin Shou). I recently heard he also doubled Sammo Hung, when he did a commercial which required him to somersault onto the elephant’s back.

Adam Lambert has flaunted his new body art while going out for lunch with boyfriend Sauli Koskinen recently. Donning a short-sleeve rocker style top, the "American Idol" alum left bare his right arm, where the new ink etched, as he walked away from Real Food Daily in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon, May 19.
The night before, Adam and his Finnish boyfriend were seen at Kat Von D's famous tattoo parlor, High Voltage Tattoo. They were there to get new body arts etched on their arms. Adam's tattoo was done by tattoo artist Kevin Lewis and is based on drawing by Hans Haveron, as the 29-year-old singer himself explained on Twitter.

After years as Blockbuster's largest shareholder, Carl Icahn, who at one point amassed some 17 million shares of the now-bankrupt company, has called Blockbuster "the worst investment I ever made."
In a candid piece written for the Harvard Business Review, Icahn opens up about the rental giant's struggles and failures in an ever-changing industry.
"[Blockbuster] failed because of too much debt and changes in the industry. It had too many stores, Netflix created a better business model, and then Redbox kiosks and the whole digital phenomenon eliminated the need for consumers to go to a separate DVD store," Icahn wrote. "Maybe the board did make a mistake in picking Jim Keyes as [John] Antioco’s successor—Keyes knows retailing and did an excellent job with the stores, but he isn’t a digital guy."

Natascha McElhone is a surprising inclusion in a misery-lit/hardman hybrid. By Peter Bradshaw
Based on the memoir by Kevin Lewis – the kind to be found in the bookshop's "Difficult Lives" section – this film is a bizarrely acted misery-lit/hardman hybrid, the story of a child's brutal abuse from an uncaring mother which morphs into a complacent apologia, structured in the same way as all the self-pitying, self-serving geezer films claiming to know exactly what led up to those drug-dealers being murdered in their Range Rover. Rupert Friend plays Kevin, who survived horrific treatment from a violent mother, became a bare-knuckle boxer, got involved (as a purely innocent victim) in the criminal underworld and through the love of a good woman became a bestselling author. Very strangely, the role of his horrible mum, complete with false teeth and coke-bottle glasses, is taken by Natascha McElhone, otherwise renowned as one of...

Blockbuster's last-ditch effort to attract new customers is like a gamer garage sale.
For Blockbuster, immediate access is everything. The company has built its business on having content faster than Netflix and Redbox and may soon file for bankruptcy because of it. Blockbuster CEO Jim Keyes constantly boasts of the rental store's 28-day advantage over competitors, and has told me time and again: "People want rushed content--our job is to provide it for them." Longer-tail titles--older content--is simply not Blockbuster's business. Unless, of course, it means launching a last-ditch effort to attract new customers.
Last month, Blockbuster added video games to its by-mail subscription service. The new feature was heralded by the company's head of digital strategy Kevin Lewis as "yet another convenient way to access entertainment content from Blockbuster." Combined with its movie offerings and lower prices, the service seemed to make video-game subscription competitor GameFly all but irrelevant.

The Blockbuster age is fading, and at last the company is preparing for bankruptcy. In the past two years, the shrinking video-rental store has struggled to stay afloat with $920 million in debt, drowning all the while in revenue losses of $1.1 billion. The La Times reports that Blockbuster executives and senior debt holders have entered discussions with major movie studios for a "pre-planned" bankruptcy mid-September.
But for everyone other than Blockbuster's sunny faced spin masters, bankruptcy was about as surprising as another Rocky comeback. Blockbuster's brick-and-mortar business was unviable in the digital world, and competitors Netflix and Redbox took every advantage to pick apart the dinosaur's carcass. The company's numbers have signaled extinction, too, with value withering from $8.4 billion when Viacom purchased it in 1994 to total market value of $24 million today. Continuing the Mesozoic metaphor, here's why bankruptcy hit Blockbuster like a surprise asteroid.

How can the company remake itself to rival Netflix?
Today news surfaced that Blockbuster was preparing for a mid-September "pre-planned" bankruptcy. To many of us, this may have been predictable. To others, like Blockbuster CEO Jim Keyes and chief digital strategist Kevin Lewis, the move may have come as more of a surprise.
What happened to the company, which was once the dominant player in video rental? In 1994, it was acquired for $8.4 billion; now, it's valued at a mere $24 million. Where did it go wrong?
Many believe the company's brick-and-mortar business hobbled its success. Others point out that its late-to-the-game by-mail and kiosk services lost out to Netflix and Redbox. And some theorize that its slim digital offerings, focused on pay-per-view rather than subscription streaming, sealed the company's fate.
Ultimately, the company was simply doing too much. As I once phrased it to Jim Keyes, it almost felt like Blockbuster...

"Obviously in the long-term, it will all be digital," said Kevin Lewis, head of Blockbuster's digital strategy, in a recent interview with Fast Company. "The future is streaming," echoed Steve Swasey, Netflix's VP of corporate communications, in another interview.
For both Blockbuster and Netflix, the future needs to be digital. Blockbuster's brick-and-mortar business is costing the company serious cash, and its stores are rapidly shuttering. Blockbuster's by-mail solution, its response to Netflix's service, accounts for just 2% of the market. Netflix boasts a 97% share.
Yet even with its success in the DVD-by-mail market, Netflix is bleeding revenue as the postal service's largest single customer, spending over $600 million annually in postage fees.
Both companies are already online: Netflix's streaming service reaches more than 60% of its subscribers, and Blockbuster On Demand is becoming a worthy competitor to Comcast. Now both companies are also on-the-go.

Blockbuster is struggling. The Dallas-based rental chain owes close to $1 billion, and has repeatedly warned it might face liquidation if it can't find new debt financing. Shares are now trading at 11 cents, and the company has been forced to delist from the New York Stock Exchange. It recently reported a higher than expected 20% drop in quarterly revenue, and it's already missed deadlines for interest payments. Chapter 11 bankruptcy and Chapter 7 liquidation are on the table.

"Our goal is to be everywhere that you would imagine there should be movies," began Kevin Lewis, Blockbuster's head of digital strategy. "That means partnering with every consumer electronics manufacturer on the planet. Our mantra is: No channel left behind, no title left behind."
This kind of bold statement is characteristic of Lewis, who spoke with Fast Company about the company's plans to transform its brick-and-mortar business for the digital age. In part one of this two-part interview, Lewis discusses Nintendo and Netflix, and explains why he finds Apple "unconscionable."

In the world of subscription-based services, Netflix and GameFly (the Netflix of video games) reign king. But for how much longer?
Announced today, Blockbuster is adding games to its by-mail subscription service for no additional cost. Customers now have access to more than 3,000 titles on the Xbox, Xbox 360, PS2/PS3, and Nintendo Wii, in addition to the store's movie and television offerings. Games will be treated like any other movie or TV show DVD placed in your queue--there is no limit on the number of games that can be rented per month.
This news comes as a blow to GameFly, which has built its business on by-mail game subscriptions and is planning for its Ipo. While the service offers some 7,000 titles, it costs $15.95 monthly for one disc, and $22.95 for two discs. Blockbuster's plans begin at just $8.99 for one disc, $13.99 for two, and $16.99 for three. How will this impact GameFly's business?...
