- Wera Liessem was born on April 23, 1913 in Hamburg-Altona, Germany. She was an actress and writer, known for The Testament of Dr. Mabuse (1933), S.A.-Mann Brand (1933) and Tante Gusti kommandiert (1932). She died on September 11, 1991.
- Began acting at the Deutschen Theater in Cape Town, South Africa, at the age of eighteen. In Germany from 1928, initially in theatrical productions, later also in films (including a leading role in Fritz Lang's The Testament of Dr. Mabuse (1933)). Moved to Austria, but fled from there after the Anschluss. Briefly settled in Switzerland, performing on stage in Zurich. Returned to Germany after the death of her partner in 1938.
- Together with her partner in life, the writer Ödön von Horváth she left Berlin at the end of 1934 because of political reasons. She never returned to the film business.
- The actress Wera Liessem only appeared for a short time in the German film industry.
