Andrea Evans, the popular soap opera star known for her turns as Tina Lord on ABC’s One Life to Live and Rebecca Hotchkiss on NBC/DirecTV’s Passions, has died. She was 66.
Evans died Sunday at her home in Pasadena after a battle with breast cancer, casting director Don Carroll told The Hollywood Reporter.
Evans came to fame by playing Tina — People magazine nicknamed her “Daytime’s Diva of Dirt” — on One Life to Live from 1979-81 and from 1985-90. However, she had to abruptly quit the soap after a stalker accosted her in the lobby of the show’s Manhattan studio in 1987 and later sent her death threats, some of them written in blood.
The fear “forever changed me. There’s no way it could not,” she told People in 2008.

Rick Springfield Busted for DUI
Former General Hospital star and '80s rocker Rick Springfield ("Jessie's Girl") was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk in Los Angeles last night TMZ has learned.
According to law enforcement, the 61-year-old singer was pulled over by the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. around 8:00 Pm for a traffic violation. When officers approached the vehicle, they noticed the smell of booze and asked Springfield to perform several field sobriety tests.
Springfield performed poorly on the sobriety tests -- and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Law enforcement sources tell us Rick's blood alcohol content was measured at .10 and .08. The legal limit in California is .08.
Springfield was taken to a nearby jail -- where he was booked and eventually released on $5,000 bail.

Considering how often it’s happened in the last few years, it should be easier to accept every time we learn of another soap opera’s demise. Yet yesterday’s news that ABC will be canceling One Life to Live next year and All My Children in September was a blow to folks who hadn’t even watched in years. It was a double whammy hit in the continued chipping away at daytime. Hard to stomach, especially when many of us grew up with Oltl and AMC. These fictional families felt as if they were our own.
