Netflix has renewed “The Umbrella Academy” for a fourth and final season, the streamer said Thursday. Writer, showrunner, director, and executive producer Steve Blackman isn’t going anywhere, though: he’ll write and produce new series and “other projects” at Netflix under his newly established Irish Cowboy production banner, the company said, and is currently developing video-game adaptation “Horizon Zero Dawn” and original concept “Orbital.”
“I’m so excited that the incredibly loyal fans of ‘The Umbrella Academy’ will be able to experience the fitting end to the Hargreeves siblings’ journey we began five years ago,” Blackman said in a statement shared with media on Thursday. “But before we get to that conclusion, we’ve got an amazing story ahead for season four, one that will have fans on the edge of their seats until the final minutes.”

With The Umbrella Academy headed to its fourth and final season, the series’ executive producer/showrunner Steve Blackman has re-upped his big, eight-figure overall deal with the streamer.
Under the multi-year pact, Blackman will write and produce new series and other projects for Netflix under his newly launched Irish Cowboy production banner. He is currently developing two sci-fi series: Horizon Zero Dawn, based on the PlayStation action-adventure game, and Iss drama Orbital.
Netflix had been looking to put together a TV series based on Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Zero Down, set in a post-apocalyptic United States inhabited by robotic creatures and following clever outcast hunter Aloy, for the past few months.
“Horizon Zero Dawn and Orbital are elevated, event-level projects grounded in characters that fans will love and relate to, which are hallmarks of Irish Cowboy productions,” said Blackman. “We’re thrilled to be working with Netflix and all of our...

Get ready for the weirdest family reunion ever when The Umbrella Academy returns. Earlier this month, we got confirmation of the news we’d all been hoping for, that being that Netflix has renewed the kooky comic book adaptation for a third run. And work is clearly already beginning on the next batch of episodes, as we’ve now got our first teaser image for season 3, which promises a very wild premiere.
Netflix has shared the first page of the script for 3×01 – see below – which we can now say is called “Meet the Family.” Series co-creator Steven Blackman pens the episode with Michelle Lovretta, a consulting producer on the show who’s also contributed to Killjoys and Lost Girl. This might not be as a tantalizing as a set pic, but we can still garner something from the title of the installment.

Killjoys returns for its fifth and final season, and the Michelle Lovretta penned “Run, Yala, Run” keeps viewers delightfully off balance with a continuation of the narrative paradigm shift introduced in last season’s finale. We know it won’t last, but it’s a lot of fun watching our familiars play out alternate roles in this Westerly world turned upside down as we await their eventual emergence from the psychologically induced alternate reality. Throughout the series’ run we’ve witnessed Dutch and the Jaqobis brothers battle demons from their past lives, and now it’s precisely these experiences, both good and bad, that hold the key to survival in this new world...

There's nothing I love more than closing out a season with positive renewal news... Yay!
Especially since Killjoys seriously upped the ante in its second season. The incredible world building opened up, our characters evolved plus we met a few new players, and the writing was consistently terrific. We laughed. We cried. We were shocked, but in the end always entertained.
I have zero complaints about this finale. They even brought Clara back and gave us an outstanding space battle. How about those VFX guys?
Yeah, I could not be more satisfied with Killjoys Season 2 Episode 10.

Nooooooo! Killjoys did not just kill off our pretty pretty princess. Did it?
Is there a chance (like with Turin), that Pawter survived Delle Seyah's blade? Though Killjoys Season 2 Episode 9 felt like the character's swan song, I'm hoping she will mysteriously resurface in the finale.
I'm in denial, it looks like she's the latest victim of the Johnny Jaqobis curse.
Sadly, I saw Pawter's death coming and even mentioned it several times in my reviews. That said, watching it go down still broke my heart.
Watch Killjoys Season 2 Episode 9 Online
For a fun, light-hearted space romp Killjoys certainly took a turn toward the darker side with this installment. With the true purpose of Jelco's wall revealed and Pawter's tough decision to kill all those Westerlyn's, this wasn't your typical episode.
All the dead bodies in the opening moments threw me for a moment, but you soon realized the writers were playing with time again.

Yup, I guessed it several episodes back folks. Sabine was Level Six!
It's always amazing to me how much story and detailed information is crammed into each 10 episode season of this series. Killjoys Season 2 Episode 7 dropped several important bits like Khlyen being there at the start of it all and Double-Dutch's name.
I'm still not sure how everything ties together, but I'm dying to find out.
Well, the sexytime between Dutch and Alvis doesn't seem to be letting up any time soon. Sadly, we can't say the same for D'av and Sabine, but more on that in a bit.
Did the appearance of "Double-Dutch" freak you out as much as it did me? Hopefully that was just a bad dream and not a sign that Alvis' days are numbered. I really dig monkpants and his role on the series, so I'm hoping he sticks around. That said, I have a...

Fembot Lucy was everything. And that kiss, you guys! 'Nuff said.
How do Michelle Lovretta and her writing team manage to cram so much sci-fi goodness into one episode? Every week I say, "That was my favorite Killjoys episode." This week with Killjoys Season 2 Episode 6, it's absolutely true.
Tons of new info was revealed. Yeah this was a good one!
This episode's opening echoed the nasty Skeevers of the last installment, only slightly more fun. For a moment, I had no idea who the hooded dude was though he sounded like D'avin. "You gave me acid?" D'av asked the old trickster.
Wasn't it hilarious the way the old fart took off thinking he'd outsmarted a pair of Killjoys? Good thing little brother was around and had a plan. Those brotherly moments between Luke and Aaron are super believable. They're a blast to watch!

Those abandoned mine scenes were just a tad claustrophobic, weren't they?
It made for a scary/fun hour, as well as an interesting new location I have a feeling we'll be visiting again. Killjoys Season 2 Episode 3 provided several clues that the origin of the green-goo may just be those mossipedes. Why do they not like D'av?
We had an adventure with Pree, this time Alvis was along for the ride. Good times!
Watch Killjoys Season 2 Episode 3 Online
That certainly was a creepy way to kick off the episode. Not only was Dutch on the ground among a bunch of skeletons, but Khlyen appeared and stabbed her in the gut. What?!?
Of course, then we jumped back 12 hours which is one of my favorite storytelling devices. Was Khlyen really there? Is Dutch a Six? Would we get any answers throughout the hour?
Before catching up with that opening scene, our heroes...

In typical Killjoys fashion, a ton of stuff went down during this action-packed hour.
However, it's safe to say that Killjoys Season 2 Episode 2 was all about returning home and to the rest of the gang missing from the premiere. As Michelle Lovretta teased in our exclusive interview, "It's the beginning of really emotionally, I think, compelling and classic science fiction type storylines."
I'm still bummed about how Hills went out, but I think Jelco is a brilliant adversary.
Was that mirror bit at the top a hint there are multiple Dutch's out there? Clones? Alvis mentioned that scarbacks hadn't stepped foot on Arkyn for over 200 years. So how did D'av see Dutch killing them in that "very old memory"?
Is it possible Khlyen (via the green-goo) was implanting memories in D'av or is their some truth to what he saw? What the hells is going on, guys? So many cool...

They're back! Killjoys Season 2 Episode 1 was a rollicking good time, wasn't it?
TV fans fall hard for the cast, which makes sense as they're front and center and the faces of our most beloved shows. For me, however, the creators and showrunners are the real rock stars. Imagine my thrill at a chance to pick Michelle Lovretta's brain.
You don't have to look any further than the fact she's a life-long fan of genre entertainment herself to understand why her shows work. Michelle adores the worlds she creates, and her characters are real people to her.
I hope you guys enjoy this exclusive interview with the creative genius behind the world of Killjoys.

Good ol' D'avin said it best early in the episode, "Missed you bastards!"
Luckily for us, this is no green-goo induced dream and Killjoys is finally back for another run. I am thrilled we get to spend another season with this incredible cast and crew. I can't even imagine not getting a third season, so I'm starting the #RenewKilljoys campaign early.
I didn't see the twists of Killjoys Season 2 Episode 1 coming, which is part of the fun.
Let me start by saying I loved that this installment picked up right where we left off, and that we didn't spend three episodes searching for D'avin. At just 10 episodes per season, there's really no time to waste.
While the tighter storytelling does away with any filler episodes, it also means the season will be over far too quickly. Take Game of Thrones for example, we've got to wait a year now to return to Westeros.
