A jury awarded an $8.6 million verdict on Thursday in the death of “Walking Dead” stuntman John Bernecker, who fell to his death on the set of the show in Senoia, Ga., in July 2017.
The jurors found that AMC Networks’ entity, Twd 8, and its production company, Stalwart Films, were negligent in Bernecker’s death. The jury found that the parent company, AMC Networks, was not liable.
The verdict is a victory for Bernecker’s parents, Susan and Hagen Bernecker, who had accused AMC of cutting corners and ignoring its own safety protocols. Jurors in the Gwinnett County courthouse, in Lawrenceville, Ga., heard six days of argument and testimony in the case, including a frame-by-frame breakdown of video of the accident. They deliberated for two days before reaching their verdict.
Bernecker was playing in a scene in which he was supposed to fall over a railing and off a balcony, landing on a pad 21 feet below.

AMC has released a new trailer for “The Walking Dead” that showcases what is to come for the remainder of the first half of season 9 and we are definitely in-store for quite a few surprises.
First and foremost, there is going to be a six year time jump from the events that occurred in last week’s episode. We see a grown-up Judith Grimes, as well as, meet several newcomers who we believe serve as our introduction to the highly anticipated group The Whispers.
It also looks like many of the secondary characters are finally going to get some of their much deserved time in the spotlight. Not that we won’t be feeling the absence of our beloved Rick Grimes, but we definitely look forward to seeing some different character arcs throughout the rest of season 9!
We also learned that last week’s episode was also the final episode...

The Walking Dead” season nine continues on Sunday, October 14th at 9:00 p.m. Et/Pt. On the all-new episode, “The Bridge,” the communities join forces to restore a bridge that will facilitate communication and trade, meanwhile, someone is gravely injured at the construction site. The episode is written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and directed by Daisy Mayer.
Last season brought the culmination of “All Out War,” which pitted Rick Grimes and his group of survivors against the Saviors and their cunning leader, Negan. With Negan’s life in his hands, Rick had a character-defining choice in front of him. By making the unilateral decision to spare Negan, Rick upheld the values his late son, Carl, championed in order to build for the future, but created conflict within his group.
Now, we see our survivors a year and a half after the end of the war, rebuilding civilization under Rick’s steadfast leadership.

AMC released the brand new opening credit sequence for season nine of “The Walking Dead.” Regarding the stunning opener, executive producer and showrunner Angela Kang commented: “The opening credit sequence is indicative of the new look and feel to the world this season and we wanted to give a nod to the show’s graphic novel origins. As we jump into a new chapter of the story, we wanted to present something fun and fresh for our viewers to reflect the changing landscape, where nature will be playing a bigger role. While our survivors work to rebuild and adjust to the crumbling infrastructure, the threat of the dead is constantly looming. Cassady McClincy is joining the Season 9 cast of AMC’s The Walking Dead in a key recurring role, Deadline has confirmed. She’ll play Lydia, daughter of the Whisperers’ leader Alpha (Samantha Morton).
In the comics, Lydia gets involved romantically with Carl Grimes after she defects from her mother’s group to fight alongside the survivors. But the TV storyline is unclear following Carl’s (Chandler Riggs) shocking death last season. In the comics, the Whisperers are a mysterious group of survivors who disguise themselves with roamer skin to blend in and not get noticed, and in the series are formidable adversaries of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his allies. The recent casting of Morton as Alpha confirms the Whisperers arrival in Season 9.

It will be a "new world" with "new rules" when The Walking Dead returns for its ninth season on AMC this October. Following the release of the ninth season's Comic-Con trailer back in July, AMC has now unveiled 12 new photos that offer a deeper look into season 9's time jump.
Featuring all-new characters, a jump forward in time, and an imprisoned Negan—all key elements of Robert Kirkman's "A New Beginning" story arc from the comic book series—the ninth season of The Walking Dead premieres on Sunday, October 7th on AMC.
As previously reported, this will be Andrew Lincoln's final season playing Rick on The Walking Dead. Here's what he had to say during the show's Hall H panel (via The Walking Dead Twitter account):
“This will be my last season playing the part of Rick Grimes. I love this show. It means everything to me.

The mother of late actor and stuntman John Bernecker filed a wrongful death lawsuit recently in her bid to "seek justice" for her son, placing the blame on AMC for cutting back on budgets for safety precautions on set, according to the Associated Press.
"The production of Season 8 of The Walking Dead, like seasons before it, had an emphasis on keeping production budgets low and profits high," the lawsuit reads in part. "As part of this emphasis, the AMC Defendants pressured Stalwart Films to maintain unreasonably low budgets and expenses for episodes,...
