Made her Broadway debut in a starring role of "Edward, My Son" in 1943. She later appeared in the movie version with Spencer Tracy and Deborah Kerr.
Graduated from RADA and first appeared on the London stage at the West End in "Beggars in Hell". Entertained troops during World War II with an ensemble under the direction of Emlyn Williams.
Collaborated on three plays with her husband George S. Kaufman, most notably co-writing the Broadway musical "Silk Stockings" in 1955.
