Jane Alsobrook, an influential film executive, producer and publicist whose marketing work led to the success of numerous films in the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, died Dec. 13 at her home in Sedona, Ariz. of breast cancer. She was 78.
Alsobrook’s career in movies began in 1971. She was recruited to help organize the Los Angeles Film Exposition, or Filmex and soon became part of what is now known as “New Hollywood” — a group that included Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Spielberg, Woody Allen, George Lucas and more. Jane Alsobrook, a marketing and publicity specialist who coordinated the U.S. campaigns for numerous successful independent and foreign films in the 1970s and 1980s, has died. She was 78.
It was revealed today that Alsobrook died December 13 at her home in Sedona, Az on after a lengthy battle with breast cancer.
While doing post-graduate work at USC in the early 1970s, Alsobrook joined Gary Essert and Gary Abrahams to help launch the Los Angeles Film Exposition, aka Filmex, the city’s first film festival.
She then joined Roger Corman’s New World Pictures to handle marketing and publicity, notably for Fellini’s Amarcord, which won the Foreign Language Film Oscar in 1975. The Edinbugh International Film Festival (Eiff) has unveiled the line-up of industry events set to take place alongside this year’s festival.
Nine days of events will be held at the Eiff Delegate Centre at the Traverse Theatre from June 18.
Topics to be discussed will range from development and financing through to exhibition and sustainability.
There will be a number of events aimed at offering support and advice to emerging writers, directors and producers including two sessions hosted by partners of the BFI Net.Work looking at progressing from shorts to features.
Representatives from Creative England, Film London and the Scottish Film Talent Network will take part in the events including an opportunity for filmmakers to practice their feature pitch to get feedback on making their future applications stronger.
There will be events focussing on areas of interest specifically for producers...

Peter MacDonald, whose directed a few things and worked on quite a few big films is getting $12.5 million to direct whats being called a "Muilitary Mutant Horror" which will be shot in Serbia and stars Tom Felton from the Harry Potter Films (like I care) among others. Filming is set for the end of the year.
Eastern Russia. One week before Christmas. A government lab is awakened by the arrival of some local poultry farmers. But why bring them here? Each of the men are rabid trying to bite anyone who comes close to them. Why are they this way? What is the cure? Neither question can be answered.
Anchorage Alaska. Three days before Christmas. A large container ship, from Russia unloads its cargo. Amongst the containers is a shipment of turkeys ready to be served up on Christmas Day to the locals, including the local army base.

This proves no exception for Tom Felton, who is rumored to have been cast in the new action-adventure, Evac, starring Michael Biehn (Aliens, Grindhouse).
The film is being pitched as a “military mutant horror” film, with Tom rumored to be playing the role of Sgt. Maguire with the synopsis as follows:
