A fond look back at UK comedy drama Teachers, starring a pre-The Walking Dead and post-This Life Andrew Lincoln...
Fifteen years ago, Andrew Lincoln wasn’t the guy from The Walking Dead. He wasn’t even the creepy guy from Love Actually (the one with the signs. Not any of the other creepy guys). No, he was the guy from This Life that was getting a show all of his own in which to charm the viewing masses. That show was Teachers. And charm us he did.
Set in a secondary school in Bristol, Teachers was good enough to make us actually want to go back to school – or, for those of us who were still at school when it started, to wonder if some of the ridiculous rumours we were making up about the staff shagging each other might actually be true after all.

Nocturn
Directed by Leanne Welham
Written by Leanne Welham
UK-England, 2010
Joining other 2011 SXSW films like Green, 96 Minutes, Small Beautifully Moving Parts, The Dish & and the Spoon, My Sucky Teen Romance and quite a few others, Nocturn was both written and directed by a woman. Leanne Welham’s film departs from the other titles now recognizable post-festival in that she tells her story in the amount of time it takes to fix and enjoy a cup of tea.
Let’s make that caffeinated tea. Nocturn is a 16-minute glimpse into what might be behind those late-night screeching tires we sometimes hear from the comfort of our warm beds. While the rest of us stir fitfully in our sleep at the sound of rowdy passersby outside, Jody (Tamzin Malleson) is awake, wandering the streets of her London neighborhood.
We only ever speculate what it is that drives Jody out of the home...

The ‘Not Fair’ singer – who has always lived in London – plans to quit the British capital city and splash out on a luxurious five-bedroom home in a Cotswolds village with her boyfriend Sam Cooper.
A source said: “Lily’s had enough of London life. She may only be 24, but she’s done far more than most other girls her age in just a short space of time.” The singer – who previously sang of her love of London in her hit single ‘Sam Cooper’ - reportedly wants to make the move so she is closer to her actor father Keith, who lives in a nearby village with actress Tamzin Malleson and their three-year-old daughter Teddie. Lily is so keen to make the move, she has already put her three-bedroom flat in north London up for rent at £750 a week. Lily recently admitted she wants to be a “suburban mum” and raise a family in the countryside.
