You know when you come across a band who just have wall-to-wall phenomenal material, every fan’s going to have their own favourite choruses, vocal moments, guitar solos and more – but it’s always fun to delve in and pick some favourites; a definitive top 10 you could recommend to everyone.
For Alter Bridge it’s been one hell of a ride getting to the top, with heavy metal-loving lead guitarist Mark Tremonti slowly injecting more crushing rhythms into the band’s work as vocalist Myles Kennedy’s becomes more accustomed to playing in front of huge stadium-sized audiences fronting Slash’s newest outfit, birthing a combination whose confidence shows more and more in everything they do.
Backed by one of the tightest rhythm sections in the business in drummer Scott ‘Flip’ Philips and Brian Marshall on bass, 2013’s Fortress is their most accomplished and experimental work so far...

It’s not hard to recommend a slew of phenomenal tracks when the band you’re delving into hasn’t had too many rise to the surface of mainstream recognition, but still, chances are anyone reading this has at least head of Alter Bridge. Either as “That band who used to be Creed” (although that’s starting to fade after over a decade of association), “Slash’s singer’s band” or “Those guys that did Edge’s wrestling theme song”, Ab are a band with talents elastic enough to stretch across a great many different places, becoming all three of these things – but also much, much more.
From the teeth-rattling riffs of lead guitarist Mark Tremonti – a man who sweats enough talent-juice to release sequential grade-a material for over a decade now – to Myles Kennedy, their frontman who tickles the moon with his high notes without even breaking a sweat,...

When Creed singer Scott Stapp posted a disturbing video on his Facebook page last week, many people began to worry about his well-being. During the 15-minute video, Stapp said he was "under some kind of pretty vicious attack" with rumors circulating that he was dead or on drugs. He also said that he was broke and living in a Holiday Inn. Although he has fought alcohol abuse in the past, Stapp claimed to be "as sober as can be." The video sparked concern for Stapp's mental state, but things grew even more disturbing when he released two more rambling videos.

If there’s one band anyone with a penchant for guitar-based music needs to keep their eye on it’s Alter Bridge. With a weekend-dominating set at Download (underneath Aerosmith no less) now in the rear-view mirror, they’ve been touring new album Fortress relentlessly – or as relentlessly as you can when your frontman also helps front Slash & The Conspirators.
Such is the life that singer Myles Kennedy, guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Philips lead in 2014, although it seems they couldn’t be happier. With the former currently only seeing his hometown for a few weeks a year, Tremonti recording a followup to his bone-powderingly heavy solo album, Marshall keeping busy teaching bass on tour and Flip (hopefully) working on a second Projected album, the band rarely seem to see any downtime.

As time rolls on and the mainstream rock press look to championing a new band as the forthcoming headliner for the upcoming generations, Alter Bridge have already started receiving much positive coverage – and for very good reason.
Fronted by one Myles Kennedy – a man who after schooling himself as a jazz teacher would go on rehearse with Led Zeppelin’s reunion tour and front Slash’s current outfit – they’ve gone from strength to strength with every album, so far managing to maintain rocket-powered uphill momentum with each release. That’s not to mention the band themselves are built from the ashes of Creed, as whilst Scott Stapp has gone on to have a fairly middling solo career, guitarist Mark Tremonti – who himself is an absolute powerhouse of riffs, solos and musicianship – drummer Scott ‘Flip’ Phillips and bassist Brian Marshall joined up with Kennedy...

It’s no secret that any regular reader of WhatCulture.com’s music section has come across an Alter Bridge article or two, as thanks in no small part to the phenomenally sky-high vocal talents of one Myles Kennedy and the thundering powerhouse of a guitarist that is Mark Tremonti – along with an incredibly tight rhythm section in Brian Marshall and Scott Phillips – the band have gone from strength to strength over the last few years.
Speaking of Tremonti though, the man is absolute machine on and off stage, creating a style that’s all his own by cherry-picking hugely enjoyable techniques from the likes of Kirk Hammett, Dimebag Darrell, Paul Gilbert and more, along with his own take on the instrument to really become one of the best guitarists currently working today.
From searingly fast shredding leads to slower bluesy note-progressions and screaming high notes that whip Alter Bridge fans into a frenzy,...

Alter Bridge are fast becoming a household name due in no small part to the angelic tones of lead vocalist Myles Kennedy’s stint as Slash’s frontman.
Take three of the four guys from one of the most (unnecessarily) hated bands in history; Creed, replace that bands’ Achilles heel with Mr Kennedy, coupled with the want to break away from all that’s gone before, and you have Alter Bridge.
Whilst their first album still appeared to be leaning on some subtle Creedian tropes with the likes of Broken Wings and Down To My Last, sophomore effort Blackbird was a knock on the door of the all-time greats, instantly propelling the band into their own category of melodic hard rock.
Kennedy was now fully on-board, contributing phenomenal melodies and a twin-guitar attack that would come to define them. Blackbird offered his genuinely jaw-dropping range powered by a technical beast...

Take a little bit of Creed and the front man of Slash’s solo project to form the American rock band, Alter Bridge. This powerhouse group would probably have to try hard to produce a poor track. Their third studio album, Ab III, dropped on November 9th via Roadrunner Records with “Isolation” as its single. The lyrics of “Isolation” are a bit dismal, as you may have guessed, so we figured why not lighten up the mood by asking Alter Bridge to make a Top 10 Best Places to be “Isolated” list? And here it goes with bassist, Brian Marshall’s… 1. At home watching a movie 2. Barbados 3. St. Kitts Island 4. St. George Isand, [...]...

Coming off the great start to Alter Bridge's latest release, Ab III, the band will be streaming Live this coming Monday, December 20th, at 1pm Est/10am Pst, and to celebrate, the fine folks at Total Assault are offering two lucky Dread Central readers a copy of the CD, just in time for the holidays!
Alter Bridge is comprised of Myles Kennedy - Vocals, Guitar (who recently performed and co-wrote two songs on Slash’s solo record and fronts his touring band) along with former Creed members Mark Tremonti – Guitar; Brian Marshall – Bass; and Scott Phillips – Drums. The band's the first two albums were based on themes immersed in hope and perseverance in the face of adversity; however, with regard to Ab III, Kennedy states, “This record is definitely a departure from the last two albums in terms of its subject matter. After a long hiatus, Creed reunited in 2009 for a world tour and a new album, the appropriately named “Full Circle.” Fans welcomed the return of the hit makers, who have sold 35 million albums, back with arms wide open (pun intended). The new album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and single, “Overcome,” was a hit at rock radio. Now, Creed -- composed of vocalist Scott Stapp, guitarist Mark Tremonti, drummer Scott Phillips and bassist Brian Marshall -- is embarking on its “20-10 Tour.” Acknowledging the troubled touring season and in an effort to give fans a great...

Looking for a household pet? Consider picking up an Adoptabot, a robot made from found items like cameras, bells, and cutlery. Brian Marshall's Adoptabots reside in an Etsy robot orphanage, where they're waiting for you to adopt them.
The Adoptabots, which are inspired by a robot-like lamp that Marshall once saw in a movie, don't come cheap--they'll cost you anywhere from $95 to $350. But the robots are a nod to Marshall's ability to turn trash into objects with seemingly high-brow personalities, with names like Bender, Carlton, Flex, and Wadsworth.
newsletterPromo("Design", "right"); Like the guys who started Terracycle and NYCGarbage before him, Brian Marshall has figured out the universal truth about trash--repackage it, and suddenly it's somebody's treasure.

Creed know exactly who they are. Back together after six years apart and a few weeks into a reunion tour that singer Scott Stapp said has been going way better than he expected, the Florida band is preparing to come all the way back with an album he promises delivers exactly what the fans want.
Produced by Howard Benson (Daughtry, Hoobastank), Full Circle was recorded before this summer's tour, and Stapp said its 15 songs make for the band's most accomplished effort to date.
"I think we've gone in many different directions, sonically and musically. It's at a higher level, because everyone's grown as players and in their art," Stapp said of the years since their 2004 split, during which he released a solo album and the...

They're one of the biggest rock acts of the past decade, having sold nearly 35 million albums and toured the world many times over. But despite all that, Creed still feel like they've got something to prove.
And that's part of the reason why — after nearly six years apart — they announced they're re-forming, with plans for a huge summer tour and a new album ... because they still feel like they've got critics to silence.
"We've always been fueled, since day one, by wanting to prove something, and that's within ourselves. And at times, it's been to the man," frontman Scott Stapp told MTV News. "We've always been the group of guys who are like, 'All right, say we can't do that, and we'll prove it to you.' You can't predict the future,...
