SyFy (formerly known as the SciFi Channel) has acquired the Us broadcast rights to the K-9 solo series, produced in Australia in 2010. They will run the entire 26-episode series in a 13-hour marathon on Christmas Day.
Featuring an updated K-9 design and a new group of characters, the series has been shown in many countries since its initial premiere. The Us is one of the last regions to see the series on TV. The series is live-action, featuring a streamlined CGI K-9, voiced by John Leeson, the original voice of the “tin dog”.
K-9 is one of the most popular companions from the classic series of Doctor Who, with two different “models” traveling with The Doctor from 1977 – 1980, and making quite a few appearances afterwards.. Making his first appearance in the Bob Baker / Dave Martin adventure The Invisible Enemy, K-9 was the creation of Professor Marius, who built him as a...

Roy Bahat, the president of NewsCorp.'s gaming arm IGN Entertainment, has vacated his position. He made the announcement via an email to the company's employees on Friday, categorizing his decision as a "difficult choice" that was arrived at '[a]fter a lot of thought." Bahat, who will remain on IGN's board, offered a semi-cryptic explanation for his departure. "So why am I leaving?," Bahat wrote. "It has become clear that now is the time to refresh the process of looking at strategic options for this business." IGN Entertainment CFO David Martin will serve as acting...

We at Disc Dish are big fans of Doctor Who and are thrilled that BBC has been rolling them out on DVD and Blu-ray. We’re even more thrilled that BBC is giving a special screening of Doctor Who: The Three Doctors in our hometown of Austin, Texas, on March 24.
Doctor Who: The Three Doctors was released in a special edition DVD on March 13.
In the episode, the Doctor (Jon Pertwee) and Unit investigate strange events around Dr. Tyler’s research into cosmic rays. An alien force attacks Unit HQ and the Doctor has no option but to call on the Time Lords for help. But they’re also under attack, from a mysterious power emanating from a black hole. The only way they can help the Doctor is to break the First Law of Time and allow him to help himself. So the first (William Hartnell) and...

You have to try out this great new NYC hotspot -- their perfect meatballs are just the beginning! We were So excited to try The Meatball Factory, one of the classiest and most fun additions to the East Village -- and it was nothing short of a delicious night out! While Chef David Martin -- who competed on the first season of Top Chef -- offers a large menu, rest assured that the meatballs reign supreme. Our party loved both the Hog Wild (made from scrumptious pork) and the Turducken (a nuanced blend of turkey, duck and chicken). Complementing the specialty meatballs are a variety of sauces, and our table went wild for both the Truffle Time and Hells Bells Vodka Sauce -- two very different but complementary flavors. Though the meatballs are great on their own, we loved having them served on a bed of Fettuccine Alfredo, the special for the night.

Since the announcement that terrorist leader Osama bin Laden was killed, there has been a general assumption that the raid would have been captured on video. Now, CBS News national security correspondent David Martin is reporting that, indeed, all of the 25 Navy SEALs who participated in the raid were equipped with helmet cameras that filmed the whole thing. Based partially on reporting from those tapes, CBS created an animated simulation of parts of the raid.

What is it with 1979 and drugs in telly sci-fi? Early on in the year, Blake's 7 came up with 'Shadow', a stark warning about the dangers of drug-taking. And to get in on the act, Doctor Who came up with Nightmare Of Eden, which pushed the 'Just Say No' message even further.
But while 'Shadow' has generally been praised for its complex script and flashy visuals, Nightmare Of Eden has had more of a turbulent press. The problem with the story is that while it boasts a well written, witty and entertaining script from Bob Baker, the production's throwing obstacles in the way with nonchalant glee. As a result, like some other season 17 stories, more is being asked of the viewer to tolerate these deficiencies in order to see the bigger picture.
But what huge deficiencies there are in Nightmare. In time-honoured fashion, let's look at the bad apples:
A great idea on paper,...

The Armageddon Factor. Hmmphh. Sounds a bit like a cross between Gladiators and The X Factor in which Simon Cowell, Many Faces Of Louis Walsh, a Minogue Sister and People’s Pop Princess Cheryl Cole decide which bicep-bulging goons go head to head in mortal combat. In fact, it turns out to be both an orchestrated war between the planets of Zeos and Atrios.

Tim Tebow. By Dave Martin/AP Photo. The Tim Tebow ad that is scheduled to run on Super Bowl Sunday on CBS with the message “Celebrate Family. Celebrate Life” is a stroke of genius. It has all the elements of a hero’s journey story told by a Heisman Trophy-winning, virginal star athlete, who goes to battle on the football field with biblical verses painted under his eyes. His battle call is for Jesus first, family second, football third. He has won championships along with the hearts of many Americans, and ultimately the attention of James Dobson’s radical anti-choice, anti-gay, anti-feminist group Focus on the Family, which is paying for this commercial. Tebow has his mother to thank for choosing to give birth rather than take the advice of doctors and choosing an abortion in the Philippines in 1987. Who could possibly find that ad offensive? What person in their...

While the number of gay/bisexual characters on scripted television has, at best, held steady over the past decade (and doesn’t exactly represent the diversity of gay men in the real world), it’s a different story when it comes to the depiction of gay men on reality television. Indeed, along with the explosion of reality programming has come a dramatic increase in the numbers and types of gay and bisexual men appearing on our television screens.
From the groundbreaking appearance of Pedro Zamora on The Real World: San Francisco to the current seasons of The Amazing Race, Survivor: Tocantins, and Make Me a Supermodel, there is a breadth of gay men that is quite frankly astounding.
In fact, there have now been so many gay and bisexual men on reality television that we decided to let AfterElton.com readers choose their favorites of all time. Here...
