The recent third season of The Witcher was Henry Cavill's last, as the Man of Steel actor announced his decision to part ways with Netflix's adaptation of the best-selling fantasy novels back in 2022.
Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) will take over as Geralt of Rivia from season 4 on, and a new photo from the season 4 set gives us a first look at the updated costume the actor will don for the role.
Though the image did fool us at first, this is not actually Hemsworth himself (although he does look quite a bit like him), but his stunt-double Joel Adrian.
During a recent interview with Collider, co-star Freya Allan said she's looking forward to seeing what Hemsworth brings to the role, but is also concerned about the level of fan backlash he's sure to receive.

Inspired by a series of novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family — the story of the intertwined destinies of three individuals in the vast world of The Continent, where humans, elves, witches, gnomes, and monsters battle to survive and thrive, and where good and evil are not easily identified.

Spoiler Alert: This recap contains spoilers for “The Witcher” Season 3, Part 2, now streaming on Netflix.
“The Witcher” fans knew Season 3 would be bittersweet. It’s the final installment of the Netflix fantasy series before Henry Cavill, who has starred as famed monster hunter Geralt of Rivia since Season 1, is replaced by Liam Hemsworth in an unexpected shake-up.
Beginning in Season 4, Hemsworth will be donning Geralt’s swords, Witcher medallions and long, white locks, while the rest of the cast remains intact — except, of course, for those characters who died in Season 3, Part 2’s bloody battles.
Since the recasting was announced, fans have been wondering how the switch from Cavill to Hemsworth will happen. Would Hemsworth appear in the Season 3 finale? Would some kind of spell change Geralt’s Cavill-esque appearance into something more Hemsworth-ian? How would Geralt’s relationships with Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), Ciri (Freya Allen) and Jaskier (Joey Batey) be affected?...

Whichever way "The Witcher" (say that three times fast!) elects to send off Henry Cavill's Geralt of Rivia, Netflix's marketing team is certainly pulling out all the stops. The streamer has released a second and final trailer for season 3 volume 2 just a few days ahead of its arrival, complete with all the trimmings "Witcher" fans could ask for. There's even a line or two of dialogue that all but explicitly nods to Cavill's impending departure from the show. It's almost enough to give you a lump in your throat, in-between the clips of our treasured grouchy monster hunter dad going all stabbity-stabbity on his enemies.
"We didn't come this far just to abandon each other," Geralt growls at one point. "Then don't abandon me," Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) replies, as the trailer shows Geralt and his "dear friend" holding back tears. It's not all vulnerable admissions and earnest sentiment,...

The Witcher season 3 will be split into two batches of episodes, with the first batch reaching the Netflix streaming service on June 29th and the rest being released on July 27th. The show is inspired by a series of novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski, and a lot of fans were disappointed that season 2 strayed away from the source material. As the premiere of season 3 approaches, showrunner Lauren Schmidt-Hissrich has said that this season is going to be more faithful to Sapkowski’s work than the previous one.
Speaking to Collider, Schmidt-Hissrich said, “The truth is that we always obviously start from the books. But I talk a lot in interviews about the fact that you cannot go straight from a page to a screen. And so what we try to do and what I’ve always talked to Sapkowski about is keeping the tone of the books the same. And...

There’s a whole lot of ammo going blammo over the course of “One Shot,” an action movie couched as a battle in real time between Navy SEALs and insurgents on a U.S.-controlled, Guantanamo-style island detention facility, presented in what appears to be a single, continuous shot.
Of course, as in other recent films like “Birdman” and “1917,” the “real time” is an illusion created by hard-to-detect editing together of several long, elaborately blocked individual shots — this movie was shot in 20 days, not 90 minutes. Still, director James Nunn’s reunion with star Scott Adkins does effectively use that device to heighten immediacy in an effort that may not transcend their usual B-grade, adrenaline-fueled macho fare, but does bring some welcome novelty to the genre.
Seal Lieutenant Jake Harris (Scott Harris) has been emergency-tasked with flying a CIA representative to an ambiguously located high-security isle whose unwilling guests represent a “United Nations of terror,...

Netflix revealed the first page of the script for the Season 2 premiere of “The Witcher” Tuesday. And yes, there is actually something happening on that page that fans will care about.
Henry Cavill’s monster hunter Geralt of Rivia has the first line of the season, which is said in a voiceover at night in a small mountain town: “You dogged my every footstep. But struck down others I passed on my way. Why?”
A merchant man and his wife and daughter are seeking lodging in this town, which is apparently abandoned and for good reason: The wife immediately goes missing from their cart, leaving the daughter covered in blood. Soon, the merchant is dragged off by the unknown creature attacking them as well.
“I was meant to end up alone, wasn’t I?” So I would finally begin to be afraid?” Geralt’s voiceover continues.

“The Witcher” was forced to immediately pause production on Season 2 of the Netflix series after four people tested positive on Saturday for the coronavirus, a source with knowledge told TheWrap.
The four staffers were not part of the cast and have been isolated. Netflix will implement a round of testing of everyone involved in the series.

Netflix on Saturday dropped a montage of Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia fighting horrifying creatures in “The Witcher,” mostly in Season 1 but with a quick look at some big bads coming in the show’s upcoming second season.
In the video, which you can view above, “Monster Mash” plays — because it’s Halloween, naturally — while Geralt’s greatest monster-fighting hits roll. Around the 0:15 mark you’ll get your first glimpse of a multi-legged creature that we don’t want to get anywhere near. And at the 0:30 stamp you’ll see some kind of being made up of three skeletons — yikes.
“The Witcher” Season 2 resumed production in the U.K. in August, after shutting down in March due to the pandemic. No premiere date has been set for the second season yet, though when it was ordered last November — one month ahead of “The Witcher’s” series launch...

Netflix released its third and final pair of first-look character images for “The Witcher” Season 2 on Wednesday, these two focusing on Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer of Vengerberg. The release followed the previous days’ drops second-season photos of Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) and Princess Ciri (Freya Allan).
In the photos of Yennefer, which you can see below, everyone’s favorite mage is battered and chained up following the Battle of Sodden Hill. Yes, the beautiful Yennefer certainly has seen better days — so here’s hoping that new suit of armor that Geralt has and Ciri’s battle training will eventually lead to Yennefer’s rescue.
Here’s the official logline for Season 2 of “The Witcher”: “Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings,...

While Ciri’s fierce look in her battle garb is enough to hold our attention for today, we’re already thinking about the reveal of Season 2’s version of Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra), which Netflix promises is coming tomorrow.

“The Witcher” Season 2 will resume production Aug. 17, Netflix announced Monday.
The show’s Twitter account tweeted: “I’m dusting off my lute and quill, I have some news, some mead to spill: After all the months we’ve been apart, It’s time for production to restart. The Witcher and his bard – who’s flawless, Will reunite on set 17 August.”
The Henry Cavill-led Netflix series was filming its second season in the United Kingdom when the pandemic hit and production on the show — and hundreds of other series around the world — was shut down in mid March. Actor Kristofer Hivju (“Game of Thrones”), who is joining the show for Season 2, tested positive for coronavirus after everyone was sent home and the studio was shut down to go through a deep clean. At this time, no other cast or crew member has tested positive.

Production on fantasy epic “The Witcher” Season 2 has commenced in the U.K., with a planned launch in 2021, Netflix announced.
The show also announced seven new cast members joining “The Witcher” for S2, including Kristofer Hivju, the Norwegian actor who played the red-bearded wilding leader Tormund Giantsbane on “Game of Thrones.”
Netflix last month claimed “The Witcher” Season 1 was tracking to be its biggest original TV series debut to date. However, that’s according to a new metric invented by the company that found 76 million member households watched at least 2 minutes of the show in the first four weeks after its Dec. 20 release.
The streamer renewed “The Witcher” for Season 2 last fall with an eight-episode order, more than a month before the freshman season hit the streaming service. The show represents “a massive new franchise that we’ll develop season after season,” Netflix chairman/CEO Reed Hastings said on the...
