- Emilie Blythe McDonald is a film director and screenwriter. She has written and/or directed several films (many along with her husband Bruce Smolanoff), including CHURROS (2019, winner Hammer to Nail short film contest), QUEEN ANNE'S LACE (2017), MUCK (2015, Best Narrative Short IndieMemphis), CROSSING THE RIVER (2013), OTHER PEOPLE'S HOUSES (2011) and MY ELENA (2010), and feature scripts PUNCH CITY (IFP's No Borders 2017) and BUCKLE MY SOUL (semifinalist Tribeca All Access). Selected festivals include: BAMcinemaFest, Nantucket, Palm Springs, Sarasota, Berkshire, IndieMemphis, Sidewalk & Cucalorus. Emilie is a founding member of an NYC-based writing group comprised of female directors. She currently lives in Albuquerque, NM where she is working on her latest project AMAN AND FLOR AGAINST THE MOTHERFUCKING WORLD, with which she won the 2024 Sun Valley Film Festival's High Scribe screenwriting award and was a 2023 Stowe Story Labs New Voices . - Emilie did an on-air radio interview for WKCR 89.9 FM NY in 2013 about her short film "Crossing the River". She was a panelist at the NYC Film & Finance Forum in 2013 and spoke about crowdfunding. "Crossing the River" screened at several film festivals, and won two awards: Best Ensemble Cast at NYC Downtown Short Film Festival, and Best Short Film at NUHO Online Film Festival.
