Though the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre (yes, that’s how the title was spelt) is a classic in the horror genre, none of the following sequels, reboots or prequels have been very good. The franchise currently boasts 7 films, and as those who’ve seen them all can tell you, each one changed things up a bit, and not for the better. The result has been a tonally inconsistent and often ridiculed series of movies, with each one being worse than the last – for the most part.
Despite this, the producers aren’t giving up and sensing that there’s still a fanbase out there for Tobe Hooper’s iconic slasher flick that started it all, they’re now bringing us Leatherface. Set to be a prequel to the original, the project has been sitting on the shelf for a while now, having been shot back in 2015. It’s been...

Warning: This post contains major spoilers from Grimm‘s series finale.
In the end, Grimm‘s devil is defeated by a tiny detail.
Granted, that detail — that Nick must willingly give Zerstörer the magic stick in order for the otherworldly demon to complete his all-powerful staff and bring on the apocalypse — doesn’t make itself apparent until the eleventh hour, when our hero thinks he’s lost everyone he ever cared about.

Witness the beginning of your end. Evocative words for a movie poster, and it’s rather apt for one depicting the origin tale behind the Sawyer family and its chainsaw-wielding maniac. The old and horrifying Texan tale is no stranger to the big screen, but Millennium Films’ upcoming feature is taking the story back its dark beginnings with Leatherface.
Picking up the infamous chainsaw and mask will be Sam Strike, the British actor best known for his appearance on BBC’s soap drama, Eastenders. Once Millennium locked down the actor earlier in the year, progress on the prequel has been ramping up ever since, with Vanessa Grasse and Stephen Dorff also on board for the scarefest. The pair are set to play the young and innocent (first victim?) Lizzy and a lawman hellbent on unravelling the unspeakable evil haunting the Texas state. Remember the first ever Love Island with its seemingly clueless single celebrities constantly bickering on a tumultuous and stormy (literally and metaphorically) Fijian island?
Even the show's co-hosts Kelly Brook and Patrick Kielty were baying for one another's blood when Kielty decided to declare during one live show that Brook had previously dated contestant Paul Danan.
Other memorable highlights included Abi Titmuss becoming more and more enraged as Fran Cosgrave repeatedly referred to her as Vanessa Feltz, swiftly followed by a tipsy and uncouth Rebecca Loos letting rip.
The series aired almost exactly a decade ago, so we found ourselves wondering - whatever happened to eventual winner Jayne Middlemiss? And the Love Island love god that was Lee Sharpe?
As the new non-celebrity series currently enjoys its ITV2 revival, we find out what the 12 star contestants have gone on to do since their 2005 stint below:

Once again, rather strangely, heading to British TV for its young cast, Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel Leatherface has just gained Jessica Madsen. The Mr. Selfridge actress joins Sam Strike (Eastenders) and James Bloor (Dci Banks). The new Chainsaw film follows 2013's hapless Texas Chainsaw 3D as the eighth film in the scrappy franchise. It's the second to be called Leatherface, following Jeff Burr's third instalment in 1990 starring a young Viggo Mortensen. It's also the second attempt at a prequel, after Jonathan Liebesman's Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning in 2006.Like Liebesman's film, the new Leatherface is following the hulking killer's early years in the 1970s, although in this case we'll find him in his teens before he dons the mask and picks up the saw. It seems to be a mystery revolving around three teenage psychopaths, one of whom will grow up brain William Vail with a hammer and endlessly chase Marilyn Burns.

Sharing the story of Jimmy Fallon's audition to the short-lived '90s sketch program The Dana Carvey show, Louis C.K. (who was the show's head writer) did his best impression of a young, exuberant Fallon – and it was spot-on, down to the frantic, high-pitched way he speaks when he's excited.
The truth is, we're living in a golden age of celebrity impressions, thanks in large part to the talent of those doing the impersonating – Kevin Spacey, Ariana Grande, Edward Norton – but also to the sheer imperson-ability (yup, we're making up words) of stars like Justin Bieber and Matthew McConaughey.

Clips of It’s A Wonderful Life appear in all sorts of TV shows and films, some predictable Christmas fare and some you might not expect…
Thanks to NBC’s long-standing tradition of airing Frank Capra’s 1946 festive fantasy drama every 24th of December, It’s A Wonderful Life has become a Stateside Christmas institution. The film’s story of a small town family man facing financial ruin being coaxed back from suicide by an angel who shows him how important he is to the world is now as festive as overspending and overeating.
Its ubiquity means that It’s A Wonderful Life is one of the first ports of call when shows and movies want to inject a festive feel into their fictional worlds, hence it having been subject to more on-screen references, quotes, parodies and homages than you can shake a jingle bell at. The Muppets, The Simpsons,...

The lost Johnny Cash gets released
According to Cash's son John, the country legend was a prolific hoarder, hanging on to everything from original audio tapes for The Johnny Cash Show to "a camel saddle gift from the prince of Saudi Arabia". That explains why it's taken several years since his death in 2003 for anyone to find Out Among the Stars, an album he recorded in the early 1980s. While the time-travel elements may be confusing and make little sense, this underrated gem reunites Speed's Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock in a film that really showcases the beauty of autumn throughout.

Hollywood heartthrob and acting heavyweight Brad Pitt is currently busy promoting his highly anticipated film World War Z, while also supporting fiancée Angelina Jolie after her recent double mastectomy. He has described her as a "badass" for taking the bold decision to undergo the procedure.
He was accompanied by Jolie in London on Sunday (June 2) for the London premiere of the movie, with the event becoming a family outing as the pair were joined by their two eldest sons Maddox and Pax.
To mark the release of World War Z, here are ten things that you may not know about the mega star that is Brad Pitt.
1. Brad Pitt was born on December 18, 1963, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. His father Bill Pitt owned a trucking company and his mother Jane Pitt was a family counselor. He is the eldest of three children.

The fourth film in the Lake Placid killer croc series is called The Final Chapter. But does it bring the saga to a close? Matt finds out...
“What’s your favourite Lake Placid film?”
You’d be surprised at how many conversations don’t start this way. It’s not for a lack of trying on my part, but it’s a question that seems to bring an awkward air to interactions and induce a strange, saddening silence. I think the problem is that when people think of the Lake Placid films, they think of one complete narrative, rather than four separate films. When asked to consider them as individual entities, they become confused and don’t know how to respond.
Or it could be that most people have only heard of the first one. It’s difficult to know.

"We are going to have so many babies."
If you need a primer on the characters..
This will be a mini-cap, focusing primarily on gay-in-training Walt.
Walt and Maggie decide to make amends, just in time for Carrie's 17th birthday. Maggie is ready to grovel, but Walt admits that it wasn't all her fault. He couldn't love her the way she deserves to be loved, which should be a huge rainbow flag for Maggie, but this is 1985, and the Ask J.T. column is still a few decades away, so how's a girl to know how to interpret gay signals?
Carrie wants to throw herself a birthday party, but Larissa wants her to work the Interview party for the hot new book Less Than Zero, and its future Twitter Asshat author the same night. When Plus One Sebastian has to back out (his estranged mother wants to see him), Carrie...

The fine folks over at Film.com headed to central Texas for a little something the locals like to call SXSW. Now that most of the movie-related festivities have wrapped up in Austin, it's time we take a look at what SXSW turned up.
Clip past the jump for our roundup of Film.com reviews from SXSW!
"Haunter" - C+
Despite a fairly novel concept and Breslin's solid work, it's hard not to feel like "Haunter" continues the close-but-no-cigar tradition of Natali's post-"Cube" endeavors. As much he cares to entertain heady concepts, it sometimes seems like they wind up every bit as trapped as his characters. — William Gross
"Evil Dead" - B
Given the climax's unexaggerated torrent of blood, and the film's generally proud sense of punishment, it's hard to imagine that the audience isn't tweaking for their fix of the red stuff more than any character on-screen is.

Shortland Street (New Zealand)
This is proof that I can’t be everywhere. I had no idea that New Zealand nighttime soap Shortland Street had a gay couple on the show. I’m not sure on all the details of the storyline, but it seems that Seth came on as part of a hostile hopital takeover. There’s been lots of drama and political maneuvering because of it. Seth's business competitor Sarah knows that he’s gay, and it looks like she's about to out him.
The biggest question I have is: what year is this? I mean, it’s 2013. It’s seems so dated to have Seth staying in the closet and hiding his boyfriend to protect his career. I realize that this does still happen, but Seth is not a professional athlete, a big film star, a politician or anything high-profile like that, so...

Dan Mazer’s I Give It A Year is a film I’ve really been looking forward to. There are a handful of genres that we tend to do very well on our shores, and the rom-com is one of them. (I point you in the direction of Love Actually, Four Weddings, Wimbledon, and the like.)
The film arrives in UK theatres today, and if you’re heading out to the cinema tonight or over the weekend, this looks to be an excellent choice.
Rose Byrne, Rafe Spall, Anna Faris, and Simon Baker head up a brilliant cast. And as the film hits theatres on our shores, StudioCanal have released a great new clip and featurette.
“Since they met at a party, ambitious high-flyer Nat (Byrne) and struggling novelist Josh (Spall) have been deliriously happy despite their differences. Josh is a thinker, Nat’s a doer ..but the spark between them is undeniable.

It was a girls only outing in London yesterday for mother-daughter pair Elsa Pataky and India Hemsworth. The ladies shared sweet hugs and kisses during a midday stop at a Notting Hill cafe. Chris Hemsworth missed out on the fun with his loved ones as he's been busy filming the follow-up to Thor, Thor: The Dark World. Chris will reportedly reunite with his on-camera love interest, Natalie Portman in the movie. However, Natalie's been spotted in Texas working on a new Terrence Malick movie. Thor fans will have to wait until 2013 to see Chris and his mighty hammer grace the big screen, and even longer to see another Avengers reunion, but for now you can look forward to seeing Chris put his muscles to work opposite Josh Hutcherson in Red Dawn, due out Nov. 21. The L.A. Complex
Wow. I didn’t see that coming. Frankly though I have to admit I don’t quite buy Kal trying to kill himself. The character just didn’t seem like the type to take things in that direction. Still, it’s pretty compelling drama and Benjamin Charles Watson and Andra Fuller not only have terrific chemistry, but are very talented actors.
Their scenes together are very intense and I thought the moment where Tariq told Kal that he’d never be able to get involved with another man without thinking about the abuse he suffered to be quite powerful. This continues to be a really well done storyline and quite unique in that it features black gay men, which is sadly still a rarity on the gay television canon. I’m very glad this show is back and they’re continuing this compelling story,...

Good Times, Bad Times
When I heard that Gtbt was going to give Lucas a potential new love interest in the form of Bilal, a closeted gay Muslim, I hated the idea. And now that the story has begun to unfold, leading to the badly-played season finale in which Lucas and Bilal kissed, I hate it even more. To be blunt, this is a horrible, clichéd plot on a show that has long had problems with solid and consistent storytelling. I’d taken a hiatus from this show for most of the last season because it was unwatchable. And I’m already thinking of not...

Offspring
I’m sad to see Andrew leave Offspring, especially since I’d just discovered the character and this show, but at least he’s getting a happy ending. Now that doesn’t matter to me, but I know it does to a lot of people, who think, rightfully or wrongly, that things always end badly for gays on television. I do hope he comes back, if only to continue to help his brother and his wife father their baby, a story with potential. Though personally, I’d rather have Andrew and Tim have an off screen breakup and Andrew come back to the show on a permanent basis. And I did like Mick and Andrew’s goodbye. I’ve enjoyed their sibling relationship as it grew and flourished over the past several months, maybe even as much as Andrew’s romance with Tim.

Offspring
I like discovering new shows featuring gay characters, especially when they are as charming and funny as this one. I think what I enjoyed most about this is that there were no coming out dramas, no one struggling with their sexual identity, no one dealing with homophobia or some such thing. I’m so tired of those topics in gay storytelling that I could scream. So it was refreshing to see a show where being gay wasn’t an issue that must be dealt with and that the characters' sexuality really didn’t matter in the context of the story. On the other hand, there was an issue in the storyline that should have been at least discussed because of the characters' sexuality that the writers chose to ignore. But I’ll get to that.

Days of Our Lives
Days had some major revelations involving Will this past week. First he found out that half his family, which included his beloved grandmother/Bff Marlena wasn't dead after all. Later on, Will revealed to his mother Sami that he, not Lucas, had shot Ej all those years ago and that Ej had been blackmailing him over it. Dramatic moments, and yet their unwinding actually felt tedious. It’s astounding how all the drama was drained out of what should have been a gripping week of television. But then, as the stories have been so poorly told, perhaps they were doomed to failure from the start.
For example, the storyline revolving around Marlena and the others faking their deaths was ridiculous. I had a hard time believing that these people would actually put their families through the wringer like that, especially since some...

Even though I’m still not sure if I buy Robbie and Will as a couple, I do think they have a nice chemistry, and I like how the relationship is developing. It’s obvious though that as much as Will wants a relationship with Robbie, he is determined to keep it a secret at work. And in such a small town where everybody knows everyone, I can’t imagine that lasting for too long. I suspect it’ll be only a matter of time before Will is outed at work, and I can’t wait to see if Robbie and he survive the fall out. I hope they do, if only because I like Will as a character and I want to see him stick around.
How long can Will keep his relationship with Robbie a secret?

Blood Relatives
There are things I liked about this clip. I liked that Esther was put out because Woulter wanted to have the party for him and Thomas at their house instead of hers. She’s a controlling woman so it’s no surprise she would hate changes put upon her by Thomas’ latest squeeze. Her being snippy about the event was the highlight of the clip, as was the shouting match between her and Eva. But I think Thomas and Woulter’s sudden coupledom is quite rushed.
Why are they rushing this?
It just seems strange to throw a party for a relationship that’s only a few weeks old. I don’t even know why these two are together as the show hasn’t bothered to give us any relationship dynamics. I think the bigger problem though is that the show is all about...

Neighbours
Neighbors garnered a lot of talk last week because of the show’s first gay kiss and how it was handled. Many thought it was great that it was treated like no big deal in that Chris and Aiden were making out just like many of the other couples at the party had. But some viewers were upset that the kiss was in the background and not the center of the scene, which you would expect given that it was the first gay kiss for the show. While I commend Neighbors for how they handled the kiss, which was quite passionate and not awkward like many kisses between two straight actors can be, it’s symptomatic of the overall problem with this storyline. Like Chris and Aiden’s kiss, too much of the action is happening in the background.

Sedona: the Movie, the second feature film from filmmaker Tommy Stovall, reminded me of a very fun cross-blending between the Kafka-esque comedy of After Hours, and the road movie plot staple of a stranger breaking down in a very odd town. The film intercuts two stories. First, we meet Tammy (played by Frances Fisher), who does, in fact, break down in Sedona, Arizona (when a plane lands on the road behind her) en route to a huge business meeting in Phoenix. She’s forced to spend the better part of the day with some very eccentric Sedona characters, portrayed by actors Beth Grant, Barry Corbin, Christopher Atkins, Kylee Cochran, and Lin Shaye (who you’ll remember as the Cameron Diaz’s very tanned next-door neighbor in There’s Something About Mary), amongst others.

Politicians. They're the steadfast leaders who help humanity survive an alien invasion, they're the targets who need to be saved from danger by action heroes, they're the people we forget have the same emotional struggles we all do or they're the scheming villains who don't know how to use their power for good. Sometimes, they're also ridiculously good-looking. Here are some of our favorite politicians in pop culture:
Mike Morris, The Ides of March
George Clooney has been involved in more than a few politically-themed films but this weekend we get to see him play someone running for office. In The Ides of March, Clooney stars as an idealistic governor who learns about how dirty politics can get when he decides to run for President, a story inspired by Howard Dean's candidacy. Too bad the corrupt party leadership isn't composed of people who can be charmed with handsome looks and a disarming grin.

Terrence Malick made two of the most admired films of the 1970s and the best American war movie ever. His latest work, The Tree of Life, is released next week.
How might the surviving American film-makers of the 1970s appear to someone born in the early 90s, a casual cinema-goer who consumes blockbusters at the local multiplex? Scorsese must seem the longwinded master of glossy action-thrillers, Polanski a maker of earnest European fare, Spielberg the purveyor of soured epic, and Coppola not even a name. Would such a person feel, as I once did, exhilarated about the latest Woody Allen? And Terrence Malick? If all you had to go on was The New World (2005) and his new film, The Tree of Life, would it be possible for you to understand the reverence that moviegoers feel for his work?

Author Anna Quindlen gave the commencement address at Grinnell College, and what she said doesn’t distill well. But the heart of it seems to be that the baby boomers have destroyed America by focusing on money, but today’s youth can rebuild it.
