Gerald was the oldest son of Scottish film pioneer John Mackenzie.
John's younger son, Ian, changed his name to Jack and was also a Hollywood cameraman.
Thus cameramen John and Jack are father and son.
John's three daughters all worked in film labs in Hollywood.
1891 Gerald born in Inverness, Scotland With parents and younger siblings, emigrated to USA just before World War I Gerald = husband: 1st gig was as a cameraman for Selig Polyscope Company in Edendale (now known as Echo Park and Silverlake [just east of Hollywood]). Geraldine = wife Prior to marriage she was Colonel Selig's assistant. 1917 Gerald enlisted in U.S. Army and granted immediate U.S. citizenship. World War I cameraman at the Army's Balloon School in what is now Santa Anita Park, Arcadia (22 miles east of Hollywood) After WWI until retirement, the head of the Camera Department at Technicolor 1981 died at Motion Picture + Television Fund Home in Woodland Hills, CA
