The producers are also in talks with a major Chinese investor to finance the film, which will be set up as a Us-Chinese-Korean co-production and use Chinese and Korean animators and other talent. They are also in talks with a Hollywood director to be announced soon.

Keep calm ... and shut the hell up. Helen Mirren, in full Queen Elizabeth II regalia, wasn't amused on Saturday when she stormed out of the Gielgud Theater in London's West End, where she currently is playing the lead role as Her Majesty in the play The Audience. No, it wasn't simply a cell phone going off in the theater that got the Oscar winner's goat - it was an entire troupe of dancing drummers beating their instruments outside while she was performing on stage, reports the Daily Telegraph. Apparently, according to a video that captured the incident, the drummers got...

When a group of street drummers performed outside London's Gielgud Theatre to promote a gay music festival, the last person they likely expected to have reprimand them for their antics was Dame Helen Mirren. But that's exactly who came outside to curse at them and send them away after they interrupted her play, "The Audience," with their loud music. Better yet, she did so dressed as her character, Queen Elizabeth II.
"I'm afraid there were a few 'thespian' words used. They got a very stern royal ticking off but I have to say they were very sweet and they stopped immediately," Mirren tells The Daily Telegraph. "I felt rotten but on the other hand they were destroying our performance so something had to be done."
Apparently the drumming could be heard clearly through the walls of the theater when "The Audience's" first act was wrapping up. During the intermission, Mirren...

Here is something you don't hear every day: Helen Mirren, Oscar winner and near queen, lost it on a group of drummers Saturday night after their raucous playing disrupted her play. Mirren, 67, not only lost her composure but did so in full Queen Elizabeth II costume -- the character she portrays in the London-theater play "The Audience."
The drummers were marching through London's West End to promote As One in the Park, a gay music festival being held later this month, reports NPR. Apparently, their music was too loud and the walls of the theater too thin for the play to continue.
According to The Guardian, one man who was present at the theater as a spectator tried to find a policeman to make the drummers stop. When he couldn't find an officer to intervene and couldn't stop the drumming himself, Mirren stepped out "dressed in pearls and a tiara.

I was actually beginning to believe Cliff Martinez's score for Drive may actually have a shot with all the love it has received in the precursor awards, but last night the Academy announced the list of 97 scores eligible for Best Original Score at the 2012 Oscars and, oops, what do you know, both Drive and Attack the Block didn't make the cut. The only other score I had on my current list of predictions for the category to not make the cut was Howard Shore's music for David Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method. Why? Well, I would assume somewhere inside there the rules for requirement weren't met. As per the Academy, "To be eligible, the original score must be a substantial body of music that serves as original dramatic underscoring, and must be written specifically for the motion picture by the submitting composer. Scores diluted by the use of...

Yesterday the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences released the 97 original film scores that will running for the final five nominations for the Best Original Score category at the upcoming 84h Academy Awards. Billy Crystal will be hosting the annual awards show, which be presented on February 26, 2012. Some how I am not surprised that Attack the Block got nixed, seeing that Tron: Legacy pretty much got the same treatment last year. Glad to see that Henry Jackman’s X-Men: First Class is getting a nod, and of course Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross had to be in it. Check out the full list below.
