The TV academy has honored voice-only performances since 1992, when six cast members from “The Simpsons” collectively became the first actors to receive Emmys for such work. The Best Voice-Over Performance category became an official non-juried one in 2009 and was then split into two categories in 2014: Best Character Voice-Over and Best Narrator. Harry Shearer (“The Simpsons”) was the former category’s first champion, having been nominated once before for the same series.
The 2023 Best Character Voice-Over ballot consists of 148 performances, which is down by 74 from last year. Seeking her third victory is Maya Rudolph, who plays Connie the Hormone Monstress on “Big Mouth.” Also in the mix are former winners Shearer, Hank Azaria (“The Simpsons”), Alex Borstein (“Family Guy”), and Seth MacFarlane (“Family Guy”).
Unlike the live action and fictional program nominees, which are chosen by all 20,000 plus academy members, the Best Character Voice-Over contenders are picked only by voters...

Exclusive: Animated drama series Pantheon, which stars the voices of Daniel Dae Kim, Paul Dano and Taylor Schilling, is the latest series to be scrapped at AMC Networks.
The series has been canceled after one season, despite a two-season order, and pulled from AMC’s streaming service as part of the company’s cost-cutting drive. The second season, which had been produced, will not air.
Pantheon joins shows such as Demascus, Invitation to a Bonfire and the second seasons of 61st Street and Moonhaven, which were all axed as part of a one-time tax write-down at the end of last year.
This write-down features around 400M of content and was revealed in an SEC filing in December.
“As a result of the Plan, the programming assessments pertain to a broad mix of owned and licensed content, including legacy television series and films that will no longer be in active rotation...

"Deranged human beings doing awful things." IFC Midnight has revealed a trailer for a film titled 68 Kill, a crime comedy from actor/director Trent Haaga. The quotes in this trailer seem to describe it better than anything else: "a white-trash, punk-rock, blood-soaked romp" and "brilliantly, utterly insane." The film stars Matthew Gray Gubler as Chip, and AnnaLynne McCord as his girlfriend, who comes up with a plan to rip off her rich sugar daddy. Of course, everything falls apart and Chip tries to straighten things out but ends up on a wild ride. The cast includes Alisha Boe, Sheila Vand, Sam Eidson, Michael Beasley, James Moses Black, David Maldonado, Ajay Mehta, Hallie Grace Bradley, and Lucy Faust. This definitely looks insane, like something to watch late on a weekend after you've had a few beers with friends. Mindy Lahiri beat the odds and came back into our lives for a fourth season (thanks, Hulu), and with her, arrived two new Lahiris to love: her parents. Okay, Mindy and Danny Castellano's lovechild is the addition everyone’s anticipating this year on The Mindy Project, but from a very personal place, I must celebrate the elders. Mindy's parents, Tarun and Sonu Lahiri (played by Ajay Mehta and Sakina Jaffrey, respectively), we learn, are funny and successful, the progenitors of Mindy's sillier sensibilities. Together, Tarun and Sonu are also pioneers of a sort: They're among American pop-culture’s few positive keepers of arranged marriages, in the company of more tragic couplings, from Game of Thrones' Khal Drogo and Daenerys Targaryen to The Americans' Philip and Elizabeth Jennings. Make no mistake: This is big. Any American child of an arranged marriage discovers early on not to bring up said fact...

No, Mindy Lahiri is no longer drunkenly riding bicycles into swimming pools, but please don’t think that means she’ll have her stuff together when The Mindy Project returns — on Hulu — on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

We’re less than two weeks away from the start of the The Mindy Project Season 4, the show’s first season after it was cancelled by Fox and picked up by Hulu, and now, we finally have our first look at what this new, Hulu-hosted season of the comedy series will be like, thanks to these photos from the Season 4 premiere. So does it still seem like the same old Mindy Project? From what we can see in these photos, I would most definitely say yes. However, these pictures do have a little something extra about them, since they feature not only Joseph Gordon-Levitt but Ajay Mehta (Royal Pains) and Sakina Jaffrey (House of Cards) as Mindy’s parents, who are accompanied by Morgan (Ike Barinholtz) in one of the five photos below. Could Mindy Lahiri be getting married to someone other than Danny Castellano this season on The Mindy Project? That looks to be the case, if Mindy’s parents have anything to say about it.
