Meet the Hammonds, a nice family from the suburb of Santa Clarita who have a deep and dark secret that could ruin their seemingly perfect lives. The recently released featurette for Netflix’s “Santa Clarita Diet” goes inside the upcoming comedy, starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant, and follows Joel (Olyphant) and Sheila (Barrymore) as Sheila dies and is reborn as a zombie.
The featurette begins by describing the couple and how they’re stuck in a rut until their lives are forever changed.
“I think Joel and Sheila care about each other but its that daily life thing,” explains Barrymore, with Olyphant adding that the couple is “going through the motions.”

Remember when Netflix first announced Santa Clarita Diet and everyone – and we do mean everyone – was under the impression that the company’s latest original series was a hammy melodrama? How times change.
Three weeks out from the show’s premiere, Netflix has dropped the first full trailer for Santa Clarita Diet, which peels back all of the many layers of Victor Fresco’s series to reveal a screwball horror-comedy with a side of cannibalism. Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant anchor the morbid sitcom as Joel and Sheila, a pair of lovestruck realtors. Together with their teenage daughter Abby (Liv Hewson), they form a picture-perfect family living out their dream in Santa Clarita, California. But things are about to go nuclear for Netflix’s newfound nuclear family.

Allow Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant to clue you in on the miraculous (read: horrifying) Santa Clarita Diet in these two new promos for Netflix’s upcoming original series.
Proving the couple that slays together, stays together, the videos begin like any other regular infomercial, with Barrymore and Olyphant addressing the camera – the audience – against a sheer white background. The former gushes about how she’s able to satisfy all her cravings while on the Santa Clarita diet, while a nervy Olyphant recreates one particular incident where his significant other unleashed her wrath, killed another person in the park and then had he/she for dinner.
Yes, as you’ve no doubt already gathered, the Santa Clarita Diet involves cannibalism – and lots of it. Olyphant and Barrymore play a married couple of realtors named Joel and Sheila, who lead “vaguely disconnected lives in the Los Angeles suburb of Santa Clarita.

All good things must come to an end. It’s a well-worn adage that everyone knows and has to come to terms with at one point or another. It’s funny sometimes that we can detect when something is nearing its conclusion without succinctly knowing the end date yet to be etched in stone. It forces us to enjoy the ride that much more. But of course, to remain just as cliché, when one door closes, another opens

Produced by Drew Barrymore’s Flower Films, Josh Anthony’s directorial debut Happy Camp tries to add a little something new to the found footage trope. Anthony was kind enough to take some time to speak with us about his love for the genre amd the challenges of taking the trip to Happy Camp.
He also discussed his high hopes for his first film to be successful enough that he’s allowed to make a second. That’s the dream, right?
DC: There are so many found footage films on the horizon and many that came before. Just to separate you from the pack a little bit, can you talk about the story of Happy Camp?
Ja: I wanted to try to evolve it a little bit more. When we first started doing this, it was a little bit stagnant and everyone was trying to do the Blair Witch model.
