Might sparks fly in the April 23 episode of FBI: Most Wanted? Meanwhile, Remy (Dylan McDermott) and Hana (Keisha Castle-Hughes) both grapple with being single and living alone. And in our clip, Remy and Hana are joined by Abby Deaver (played by guest star Susan Misner), a charismatic Missouri attorney whose client on death row is connected to the case the Fugitive Task Force is pursuing. At a crime scene, Abby wonders if Remy’s thinking the same thing she is,...

Has the Almighty ghosted Miles? That appears to be the case in God Friended Me‘s Season 2 premiere, as the podcaster hasn’t gotten a friend suggestion since Joy (Awkward‘s Jessica Lu) showed up and then bailed after learning all about the God account. Miles hasn’t been able to find her since then, and in the meantime, he’s scrambling with a storyline for Season 2 of The Millennial Prophet.
Rakesh suggests to Miles that maybe it’s time to move on from the God account, but the universe has other plans. After helping a soldier (Sleepy Hollow‘s Zach Appelman) with directions,...

An emotional Michelle Williams praised FX and Fox 21 Television Studios, thanking them for their support and for “paying me equally” in her acceptance speech for her Emmy win for outstanding actress in a limited series or movie for Fosse/Verdon. This was the four-time Oscar-nominated actress’ first Emmy win.
Williams, who won the trophy for her starring role as Broadway dancer/choreographer/singer Gwen Verdon in FX’s Fosse/Verdon, urged pay equality for women, particularly women of color.
“When you put value into a person it empowers that person to get in touch with their own inherent value, and where do they put that value they put it into their work and so the next time that a woman, especially a woman of color because she stands to make 52 cents on the dollar compared to her male white counterpart, tells you what she needs in order to do her job,...

To fumble as a choreographer on “Fosse/Verdon,” FX’s sterling limited series depicting the life, love and legacy of Bob Fosse and Gwen Vernon, would be failing while standing in the brightest of spotlights, exposed to the most savage of television, film, dance, and theater critics.
To succeed would be to risk not being noticed at all.
That was the challenge entered into by three-time Tony winner and “Fosse/Verdon” co-producer Andy Blankenbuehler (“Hamilton”), who painstakingly choreographed the series’ first three episodes, and then taken up by actress and Broadway veteran Susan Misner (“The Americans”) who stepped in when Blankenbuehler heeded the (cat) call and departed the production to head up choreography on Tom Hooper’s “Cats.”
As it happened, Misner was already signed on to “Fosse/Verdon,” portraying Fosse’s first wife, actress Joan McCracken, when she got a call from Blankenbuehler about expanding her responsibilities on the series.

This story about “Fosse/Verdon” first appeared in the Movies & Limited Series issue of TheWrap’s Emmy magazine.
Susan Misner plays the important role of Joan McCracken, legendary choreographer/director Bob Fosse’s second wife, in the FX limited series “Fosse/Verdon.” But that was by no means the trickiest thing Misner had to do on the adventurous eight-part series, which uses the style of Fosse’s own work to tell the story of the charged professional and personal relationship between Fosse (Sam Rockwell) and dancer, actress and choreographer Gwen Verdon (Michelle Williams).
No, it’s Misner’s offscreen job that provided the real challenge on “Fosse/Verdon.” The New Jersey-born actress has lots of movies under her belt, and she’s danced in several of them, including the Oscar-winning “Chicago” in 2002. But she’s never before been credited as a choreographer on screen — and there has to be something terribly daunting...

Susan Misner is a seasoned performer, as both an actress and dancer, on both stage and screen. Her work on FX’s Fosse/Verdon allowed her to indulge in both vocations. In the FX limited series about the relationship between Bob Fosse (Sam Rockwell) and Gwen Verdon (Michelle Williams), Misner starred as Fosse’s second wife Joan McCracken. She also choreographed four episodes of the series. In our exclusive interview (watch the video above), Misner talks about digging into both McCracken’s tragic life and putting her own voice into Fosse’s legendary dancing style.
Misner says her first exposure to both Fosse and Verdon was while watching the film version of “Damn Yankees,” which marked the pair’s first collaboration. Misner remembers watching both the couple in the now-famous “Who’s Got the Pain” number: “I was quite young when I saw that, and it was my first ‘falling in love’ moment with them.

She tries it his way, then moments later does her own version. “Yours is better,” he admits.

Ask production designer Maria Djurkovic how she researched period-accurate sets for the late 1970s-set espionage miniseries “The Little Drummer Girl,” which airs on AMC, and she answers: books, the internet, some personal experience. But then she brings up her secret weapon: Philip Clark.
“Phil is something like a detective,” she says. “He can respond to a very specific brief, and my inbox will soon be filled with thousands of images that are appropriate. He has a skill of tracking everything down.”
It may take a village to shoot a TV series, but historically based shows such as “Drummer Girl,” Starz’s “The Spanish Princess,” FX’s “Fosse/Verdon,” History’s “Vikings,” Amazon’s “The Man in the High Castle” and PBS Masterpiece’s “Victoria” rarely get very far without some added know-how.

With all their flaws, all their quirks, all their jazz, Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon were all about performance. As depicted by Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams in “Fosse/Verdon,” the indelible work this duo brought to the screen provides a fascinating heart to this series. One of the most impressive things about FX’s new limited series is how it pulses with the beat of the shows brought to life by its titular characters.
“Fosse/Verdon” occupies an interesting place in the TV sphere, because in some ways it feels like a show produced by Ryan Murphy. But Murphy had no involvement; the brain trust behind Broadway blockbuster “Hamilton” is in charge, with the full list of executive producers including Thomas Kail, Steven Levenson, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Joel Fields, Rockwell, Williams, and George Stelzner. Like an earlier teaser, the new official trailer for FX’s Fosse/Verdon offers plenty of glimpses of Cabaret dancers and onstage strutters, but now we’re seeing more personal scenes of Broadway’s famous couple in good times and bad.
The limited series chronicles five decades in what FX calls the “romantic and creative partnership” of director and choreographer Bob Fosse (Sam Rockwell) and dancer and actress Gwen Verdon (Michelle Williams). Describes FX: “Only Bob can create the groundbreaking musicals that allow Gwen to showcase her greatness. Only Gwen can realize the unique vision in Bob’s head. Together, they will change the face of American entertainment – at a perilous cost.”
The new trailer also provides peeks at the Broadway milieu of the era, including the newcomer Ann Reinking (Margaret Qualley) who will follow in Verdon’s footsteps in more ways than one.

There are all types of actors in Hollywood with each type doing things and working in a specific way. Some reach the apex through quality and others reach theirs through quantity. For instance, there a number of men in Hollywood who have reached the $20 million man mark — being paid a minimum of $20 million to star in a film. However, the highest grossing actor in Hollywood is Samuel L. Jackson and he is not on the elite list. He simply keeps working non-stop. One actress that may not be a household name is Susan Misner, but Susan has

Plenty of shows these days embrace their inner batshit insanity. Challenging norms via wild narratives or atypical execution is so deep within their nature that the show thrives on such inherent madness. Here at IndieWire, we refer to such efforts as “bonkers” TV, and Hulu’s latest original series, “Shut Eye,” could certainly be a candidate if it ever fully leans into its freshly bizarre elements.
After all, this is a show that constructs a climactic scene in which a woman walks between two rows of gypsies in a candlelit East L.A. mansion as the offended parties spit on her. And that’s just the start of her punishment for breaking the gypsy code. What comes next is enough to make even hardened TV viewers raise an eyebrow.

After a string of hits in the 80s and 90s, director Rob Reiner has struggled to achieve the same success. Some of his projects post-2000 have made money and some have provided laughs, but none found staying power. It’s not all his fault. The best film during this period didn’t even garner a wide release and it was a real shame because Flipped held a worthwhile kinship to the likes of Stand By Me. So it comes as no shock to discover his latest worthwhile feature also harkens back to the coming-of-age drama with the trials and tribulations of youth. The difference is that this one isn’t about nostalgia. Being Charlie is instead about pain, family, and survival. It’s also about him.

We can see Hulu’s future: the streaming platform has greenlit a straight-to-series pickup for “Shut Eye,” a premonitory show by Gran Via Productions that’s bypassed the pilot shuffle to a 10-episode order. Schiff/Audino Casting has nearly wrapped with a majority of the actors in place for filming later this month in Vancouver, British Columbia, and Los Angeles. Emmanuelle Chriqui, Jeffrey Donovan, Susan Misner, Isabella Rossellini, David Zayas, and KaDee Strickland have been lined up for the former FX series. The dark comedy will play with the seedy happenings of Los Angeles’ storefront psychics. Donovan’s character, a player in the game, starts to curb his cynicism on the profession when he himself starts experiencing prophetic visions. Hulu is also hoping that Lucy Ricardo isn’t the only one who can put a spin on winemaking. “Crushed” will find an African-American brother and sister stumbling onto a successful...

After the initial slate for the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival was announced last month there were many observers, including this pundit, who wondered of the annual September event had once again lost the battle of premieres to its Fall festival cousins. While debuting Ridley Scott's "The Martian," Jean Marc Valle's "Demolition" and Michael Moore's "Where Do We Invade Next" is nothing to sneeze at the fact some of the most anticipated films of the year are heading to Venice and Telluride first has to be a bit disheartening. Especially when it's your 40th anniversary. Never fear fans of the Great White North, Toronto always seems to land some eyebrow raising last minute additions and this year is no different. Today Tiff announced that David Gordon Green's "Our Brand Is Crisis" with Sandra Bullock, Marc Abraham's "I Saw The Light" with Tom Hiddleston, Catherine Hardwicke's "Miss You Already...

So…what went wrong?
Plenty of digital column inches have already been dedicated to the subject of The Good Wife’s troubled sixth season, especially given that it follows what most viewers consider to be the series’ best ever. While the litany of reasons listed in that Salon piece make for an excellent overview, it’s worth remembering that some of the season’s most obnoxious problems – eg. The Alicia/Kalinda Dillemma – have been percolating for quite some time now. To put it simply, this season could have been forgiven a lot of its most glaring flaws if the season’s stories – either on an episode- or season-level – had been worth a damn.

"The Americans" just concluded its third season. I have an interview with producers Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg, and my review of the finale is coming up just as soon as I put your toys back where I found them... "They're Russians!" -Paige "March 8, 1983" demonstrated all the ways in which "The Americans" has grown into an emotional powerhouse that's the best drama on television at the moment. And we will get to all of those shortly, because every single thing in the episode was extraordinary, to the point where I had to remind myself to breathe a time or three. But the things that weren't in it — one thing in particular — illustrated some of the misgivings I had about this year.
