- After sharing the bill with Superman, Parker Posey returns to the independent film world in Fay Grim written and directed by Hal Hartley. For those of you unfamiliar with Hartley’s work, he emerged along with Steven Soderbergh at the Sundance Film Festival in 1989. That year, Hartley’s The Unbelievable Truth put him on the map. While Hartley hasn’t gained the fame or accolades of Soderbergh, he’s been quietly churning out movies; finding the funding and making a film every year or two since ’89. Grim revolves around the title character (Parker Posey), a mother of a troublesome 14-year-old (Liam Aiken of “Stepmom” and “Lemony Snicket’s…”) who lives off of the royalties of her poet brother, Simon Grim (James Urbaniak).
