A Utah man who inspired thousands with his bravery and love for life after learning he had cancer throughout his body has died. Paul Moore, 36, who was profiled by People last November and was the inspiration behind the Paul Moore Foundation to help other parents facing terminal diseases, died quietly at his home in Farmington on March 5, surrounded by family and with his wife, Joni, holding his hand. "My heart is heavy as the reality of this world without my little brother in it sinks in this morning," Joel Moore, 39, who is Paul's brother, tells People. "I couldn't have asked...

From opposite ends of the Ping-Pong table, the famously competitive parents of Britain's future monarch grinned at each other, and then let fly. "Ahem, I think that was 6-2," William said, declaring victory over Kate during their visit to a Glasgow sports center April 4. But, after his official duties were done, he turned to Lord Lieutenant Sadie Docherty, the couple's host for the day, and chivalrously fessed up: "The only reason I won today was because Catherine was pregnant," the prince told Docherty, who recounted the conversation to People. "Otherwise she would have taken off her coat and beat me.

Zombie stories tend to be large scale stories - after all, when the dead rise, it's the end of the world as we know it. Even when books or stories are focused on a small group of survivors, there's nothing narrow about the apocalypse, and that's usually reflected in the tale being told.
So I must admit I felt a little trepidation when I heard about Appalachian Undead, the new anthology from Editor Eugene Johnson and Apex Publications. Here's an anthology dealing with a relatively small (if thriving) subgenre, set in relatively small (if notorious) region of the United States. Sure, it sounded like a great idea for a short story, but a whole book of them? I could see it being a little too niche, a great title backed with a group of stories that would eventually blend into an indistinguishable mess.
Boy, was I wrong. What Johnson has...

As a fan of sci-fi, I’d have to say that this genre calls upon the most imaginative and out-of-the-box thinking of its filmmakers. The folks at Difference Engine Films certainly feel that they have risen to the challenge with their story of humanity’s life beyond earth.
We showed you the trailer for Span a few weeks ago and the clock is ticking for their crowdfunding campaign. They project has until November 21, 2011 to raise the necessary funds to make this film. Check out Span’s trailer here and this video from Creative Supervisor Todd Allen and VFX Supervisor Bo Mosley as they share with you the possibilities of their future production facility. Does this inspire you to see what they can do? If you want to be a part of their vision, contribute through Kickstarter.com!

In a world where the apocalypse is on trend, it’s refreshing to break from the flow and to be filled with the hope of a new beginning. Span, a sci-fi feature written by Paul Moore and Scot Tanner, transports us to a point in our future where humanity must begin again.
Moore and Tanner with independent film studio, Difference Engine Films, are looking to the sci-fi fan community to help them realize this project through the online funding platform Kickstarter.com. The project seeks to reach a goal of $90,000 by November 21, 2011. Check out the official press release, teaser, and filmmaker message to supporters below:

An on-screen couple from Winners and Losers have revealed that they are husband and wife in real life. Australian actors Paul Moore and Sarah Grace, who play Wes Fitzpatrick and Bridget Gross in the new television drama, got married after he proposed on game show Deal or No Deal in 2007. The pair joked to New Idea magazine that they enjoy getting into their roles for work at home, saying: "We start practising any time during the day. At breakfast, in the shower, anywhere." Grace said that when she landed the role of Bridget in Winners and Losers, he called his agent and begged him to get him a part too, telling him: "You need to get me this - I do not want anyone else kissing my wife." Moore added: "I reckon I probably put a bit more effort in than usual in the audition process. I didn't want anyone...

Tony Todd is, to say the least, an imposing figure. At 6’5”, broad of frame, and with a deep, booming voice, he’s a guy who gets attention. The fact that he’s also a dependable and wholly competent actor makes him all the more impressive. Since the mid-Eighties (and his appearance in the Oliver Stone film Platoon), Todd has brought an earnestness to every role he’s done; and he’s done a lot with well over a hundred roles listed on his IMDb page.
Thrust onto the genre’s center stage in Tom Savini’s adaptation of Night of the Living Dead in 1990, Todd has worked solidly, appearing in genre and non-genre roles and in both big budget and low budget films ever since.
After a small cameo in the first Hatchet movie as Reverend Zombie, Todd returned when writer/director Adam Green revived the ominous Victor Crowley for Hatchet II.

Torontonians really have no reason to complain about the less then stellar line up Hollywood has been serving up at the multiplexes this summer, especially when their local film repertories have been offering a bevy of sumptuous retrospective alternatives. The Revue Cinema in particular will be celebrating the one year anniversary of their excellent Silent Sundays series this Father's Day (June 20th) at 4pm with the 1923 Universal Pictures adaptation of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. So this weekend, sure... see Toy Story 3, but save your disfigured-protagonist fix for Lon Chaney Sr. in lieu of Josh Brolin.
Here's the official release, with further details about both the series and this Sunday's screening:
The Revue Cinema's celebrated Silent Sundays program returns on Sunday, June 20, at 4Pm, to screen The Hunchback of Notre Dame, (1923) which saw producer Carl Laemmle reproduce Paris and its fabled cathedral on the Universal backlot. Hunchbackblends the spectacle film with melodrama and horror.

The merger of Ardmore Sound and Screen Scene announced in March of this year by their Chiefs Paul Moore and Jim Duggan saw both post houses pooling their sound talent and resources. Iftn caught up with Ardmore Sound's Alan Collins and Screen Scene's Niall Brady to find out how the companies are finding life post merger. Bustling with activity, the post houses are collaborating on a number of current projects. Screen Scene are working on both sound and picture for Dearbhla Walsh's drama, 'The Silence' which is being mixed by Ken Galvin, while all the Foley recording is taking place at Ardmore Sound's Foley Theatre. Work is also underway on John Michael McDonagh's feature film 'The Guard' starring Brendan Gleeson, which Niall is cutting at the moment.
