Almost three decades since its release, East 17 song “Stay Another Day” has remained a regular Christmas fixture.
The track swiftly became a festive favourite after it was released in 1994, with many assuming the words, sung by Brian Harvey and his bandmates, to be about a failed relationship.
However, the song, which was written by Tony Mortimer, actually has a much deeper meaning.
Speaking to Songwriting Magazine in 2016, Mortimer revealed: “I had the melody and the chords and I was looking for a story to go on top of it.”
He decided to base the lyrics on a very sad event from his life.
“It was based on my brother’s suicide and losing someone,” he explained. “What would you do if you had one more day with a loved one?”
Mortimer continued: “Over time I started to put together the story and I wrote it in a different way to...

Christmas is quickly approaching and the nation is hastily compiling playlists of the best festive bangers to get in a much-needed good mood.
While all Christmas songs are at least partly embarrassing by nature of being Christmas songs, there are some cool kids out there – your “Fairytale of New York”s, your “Christmas Wrapping”s.
The songs on this list, however, are decidedly not that. They’re cheesy, cringey and, occasionally a little bit weird, which is a mood I think you should go for over the festive period. If you’re genuinely embarrassed to be seen singing along to any of these, you’re in the right place.
Here are 10 of the best Christmas songs we’re all ashamed to admit we secretly love, perfectly timed for you to terrorise your family and friends with over the coming weeks…

With the Strictly Come Dancing launch show just around the corner, it was time for a little trip to the studios to meet the lucky (or unlucky) stars taking to the ballroom this year. Jeremy Vine was busy on the radio so couldn't be there, but we still managed to wangle plenty of secrets out of the celebs...
1. Don't expect Peter Andre to be whipping his shirt off immediately.
"I reckon I'm going to last ages. I do. I mean, the girls look awesome – all of the girls look awesome. But the guys, you've got a professional runner, you've got a boxer… Iwan's going to be first. He looks good, you know."
2. Jamelia's daughters don't even recognise her anymore.
"You become obsessed with it. Literally, this weekend I was washing up and dancing. My daughters were like, 'Mummy, what are you doing?' and I was like, 'I'm not your mummy anymore.

Is ITV really going to bring back Cold Feet?
That's the rumour, with the broadcaster apparently looking to plug the Downton-shaped hole in its schedule with a revival of the popular comedy-drama.
If it's true, they'll have a job bringing the cast back together - some have gone on to be huge telly and film stars, while others have stepped out of the spotlight entirely...
James Nesbitt
Nesbitt's carefree lothario Adam Williams met his match in Helen Baxendale's Rachel - the couple overcame infidelity and infertility but were denied lasting happiness when Rachel was killed in a traffic accident.
Since Cold Feet wrapped, Nesbitt has become one of British television's most in-demand leading men.
He fronted BBC One's gritty cop series Murphy's Law from 2003-07, led Steven Moffat's supernatural thriller Jekyll - also in 2007 - and played the title character in ITV's short-lived medical drama Monroe (2011-12).

Using YouTube clips such as “Charlie bit my finger”, Owen said such content was “incredibly simple” and that “people still want good stories”.

The thrill of a good horror movie is feeling immersed in the intensity of a dangerous situation, all the while knowing that it’s all just a work of fiction. But what happens when that rush of cinematic fear is prefaced with “based on a true story?” You no longer have the comfort of calming your nerves with “it’s all just make-believe.” For movie studios, the hype that surrounds a horror film that claims to be based on a true story results in box office gold.
Without a doubt, the highest grossing horror films that claim to be based on a true story are the ones that have involved the paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Their most notable cases that went Hollywood are The Amityville Horror, The Haunting In Connecticut, and most recently The Conjuring. Denise Welch believes the 'Loose Women' ladies have ''got carers'' in their younger lovers. The 55-year-old TV star - who is set to marry Lincoln Townley, 15 years her junior, this month - has joked that many of the ITV daytime show's panellists are dating younger men so they can take care of them in their old age. Speaking to Hello magazine, she said: ''There is 15 years between Carol [Vorderman] and Duffy [Graham Duff], 22 years between Carol [McGiffin] and Mark [Cassidy] and 17 years between Shobna [Gulati] and Anthony [Brown]. British Asian film Amar, Akbar & Tony has started filming in London.
Inspired by the title of 1970s Bollywood classic Amar, Akbar and Anthony, the project stars Waterloo Road actress Karen David as Meera, alongside Rez Kempton, Sam Vincenti and Martin Delaney.
"I found the script so endearing and really appreciated the fresh depiction of South Asians," said David.
"Meera's character is so different from anything I've played, and it will be a wonderful challenge to play her. There are a lot of complex layers in her character. She is mysterious at first, and a lot is going on behind those eyes that you don't find out until later on in the story.
"The characters, and the storylines, are definitely going to get people talking."
The project is currently shooting in locations across London including Southall and Turnham Green.

Ex-East 17 songwriter Tony Mortimer has admitted that he finds it hard to observe the continued success of his former boyband rivals Take That. Both groups competed for hits in the mid-1990s but while Take That's 2005 reunion has resulted in two number one albums, East 17's comeback the following year dissolved after a single gig. Mortimer told The Guardian: "The boys still tour as E-17, singing my old songs. I was angry with them for a long time, especially when we tried to reform and it didn't work (more)...
