A same-sex couple in Colorado has lodged a discrimination complaint with the Attorney General's office after a bakery refused to sell them a wedding cake. Jack Phillips, owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop in Lakewood. cites religious reasons for his refusal to create a rainbow layer cake for Charlie Craig and David Mullins' wedding.
"I'm a follower of Jesus Christ, so you could say it's a religious belief," Phillips tells Denver's FOX31. "I believe the Bible teaches that [homosexuality] is not an Ok thing." Phillips says he will sell other bakery items to gay couples, just not a wedding cake.
Phillips has received death threats since the story went public, but also claims his business has increased thanks to people dropping in to show their support. He says he has legal representation and expects this to become a matter for the courts.
