The new TV writing-focused programme that simulates the experience of an actual writers’ room is set to welcome ten participants. As announced a couple of months ago (see the news), Midpoint, the leading training and networking platform that has focused on series development since 2015, has introduced a new TV writing-focused programme: the Writers’ Room. The brand-new programme, which will run for four days from 4-9 November in Prague, has announced its first-ever ten participants. The workshop, led by two tutors, will offer practical training on how to organise a writers’ room. Hungarian creative executive and Midpoint TV Launch head of studies Gabor Krigler will offer a European perspective, while his fellow tutor, American executive producer and consultant Maggie Murphy, will tackle the Us take on a writers’ room. Furthermore, the tutors will offer a series of lectures, which will also be open to the general public, examining the various...

Review Matthew Giordano 13 Nov 2013 - 07:07
With just three episodes of this season to go, Matthew is becoming impatient for some real Sons Of Anarchy mayhem...
This review contains spoilers.

With the reopening of the repair shop, Jax showing restraint but not attacking Tara, Nero being back in business, and Katey Segal's angelic voice guiding us while we check in with the major players, Sons of Anarchy gives the impression that new beginnings are possible as well as the hope that things are finally looking up for everybody now that the truth is exposed. I am sure that most people were expecting a massive confrontation between Jax and Tara and I think it was wise not to jump right into that potential catastrophe. Once again though, remember moments of calm on Sons of Anarchy are pretty much always followed by complete and utter mayhem. How fitting that the...

The confrontation between Jax (Charlie Hunnam) and Tara (Maggie Siff) on "Sons of Anarchy" was about as explosive as you might expect, though it wasn't Jax doing the yelling.
The episode starts with Tara waking to the sound of someone in her home. She goes to check on her young son, only to realize he's gone, so she freaks. When she realizes he's with Jax, it doesn't calm her nerves at all. Playing the peacemaker in the situation, for now at least, Jax says he's essentially moving out to clear his head so they can decide what to do. Not without the warning that she's being watched, though.
Meanwhile, Tara's allies are dropping like flies. She can no longer trust Lowen (Robin Weigert) or Wendy (Drea de Matteo), Unser (Dayton Callie) dropped her, and Margaret Murphy (McNally Sagal) is taking an extended vacation to get away from the insanity.
Finally losing her temper,...

Sons of Anarchy Season 6 Episode 9
“John 8:32” may very well have been my favorite episode of Sons of Anarchy this season. There was something especially cathartic about seeing all of the family squabbles play out, without the needless distractions of wacky explosions, “shocking” deaths or Walter Goggins’ boob scenes.
It’s always great when the cast has a chance to breath and captivate us without running around ad nauseam to an up tempo chase song. I love action just as much as the next guy, but it’s those solemn songs and moments that really draw you in to this motorcycle-club drama.
Although the Jax vs. Clay beef has been played and strung along like turkey meat, I’m digging the new Jax vs. Tara drama. Throughout the past few seasons the Jax, Tara and Gemma love triangle has been had its share ups and downs. But that’s what...

With Jax (Charlie Hunnam) at a loss over how to fix his marriage to Tara (Maggie Siff) and as a crossroads with Samcro, "Sons of Anarchy" continues on in the next episode, "John 8:32." A promo for the episode shows some very interesting developments with both the club and Tara's faked miscarriage.
With D. A. Patterson (Cch Pounder) turning up the heat on Barosky (Peter Weller), the law is getting even closer to being able to pin the school shooting gun on the club, something they are doing everything they can to avoid. Perhaps that's why Jax is sitting down with Patterson, to direct her away from the club. At this point that's practically impossible, though.
Then there's Tara. Her lawyer is very open about the problems she could be facing if it's discovered that her pregnancy and miscarriage were all a ruse to extract Gemma (Katey Sagal) from her children's lives.

Less than one week after greenlighting a new series to join scripted soap Mistresses on the summer schedule, ABC has shelved paranormal drama Weird Desk, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. It is believed that the decision to halt Weird Desk was due to the inability to fast-track the series to begin production in time for a summer launch and at a lower cost, a significant point for an original show airing in the summer months. The 13-episode hourlong investigative series hailed from Stargate's Carl Binder and The Librarian's David Titcher, with Tom Mazza and Maggie Murphy also executive

After pulling the plug on short lived supernatural series '666 Park Avenue' it seems ABC are pinning their hopes for the Summer of 2013 on a new and extremely familiar sounding concept. 13 episodes have been ordered for 'Weird Desk', a series revolving around a secret organisation that takes all those 'kooky' cases that are a little too out there for the CIA and Nsa. This of course involves supernatural, paranormal and extra-terrestrial cases. So, a tad similar to 'The X-Files' methinks especially as the two leads are played by an 'obstinate, socially inept and brilliant man' and his female partner. Hmmm a Mulder and Scully for the new generation? Are we ready, do we need them? ABC certainly seem to think so. Tom Mazza and Maggie Murphy will serve as executive producers. Carl Binder ('Stargate') and David Titcher will pen the series....

While fans are still speculating about a possible "X-Files" revival, ABC appears to be getting ahead of the trend. According to Deadline, the network has ordered a new paranormal investigation show, titled "Weird Desk," straight to series for Summer 2013.
Here's the breakdown, via Deadline:
Based on the alleged real-life mysteries from this world and beyond, it centers on the workings of a clandestine organization rumored to be named “Weird Desk.” Working above the levels of top secret and above the office of the President, the unit is the destination for mysterious intelligence rerouted from the CIA and Nsa. Tasked with investigating and solving occurrences of the paranormal, supernatural and sometimes extra-terrestrial, “Weird Desk” is led by Morgan, an obstinate, socially inept and brilliant man who would now be dead if it weren’t for his special forces trained partner, Rosetta.
The order is for 13 episodes, and the show -- written...

After having the gals covered next summer with soap Mistresses, ABC also is setting up a show for the guys. The network has given a 13-episode straight-to-series order to mystery supernatural/UFO drama Weird Desk for summer 2013. The show hails from Christina Jennings’ Canadian production company Shaftesbury, which has a U.S. division. Written by Carl Binder (Stargate) and David Titcher (The Librarian), Weird Desk is in the vein of The X Files. The wait is nearly over for the return of season five of "Sons of Anarchy," which means our M&C dead pool of who is going down this season is soon to start. (Tig, Opie and Filthy Phil are currently in the running). We love the women of Samcro, Gemma and Tara, Ima and Lyla, and the background women too including Margaret Murphy, the late great June Stahl (dammit, why can't there be a special 'Walking Dead' zombie mash up episode to bring her ass back?), Maureen Ashby and Rita Roosevelt to name a few. Sons of Anarchy.s Sept. 11 season premiere appraches and FX has unleashed a sew of new clips including .Nero. shows how close Jimmy Smits.

Glee's Cory Monteith has spoken out over his teenage alcohol and drug addiction. The 29-year-old actor, best known for playing Finn Hudson in the Fox series, admitted in an interview with Parade magazine that he feels "lucky to be alive". Monteith added on how his life has changed: "I'll go out, but I leave early, before the shenanigans. I don't really do the Hollywood party thing. I'd rather watch sports or play videogames or work out or sleep, to be totally honest." Parade editor Maggie Murphy claimed that, (more)...

FX's brilliant biker drama "Sons of Anarchy" has ratcheted up the action and the heat is on Eire, as the Samcro gang are winging it sans papers to the Emerald Isle, in a bid to get back Jax's son and Gemma's grandson Abel. Now if you are following, the big reveal last week was that Jax has an Irish half-sister, and Gemma was one of the last to find out John Teller's naughty little secret. It didn't go down well. Tara (Maggie Siff) is now stepping up to the plate and is under more duress than ever, at least she has an ally with Gemma (Katey Sagal) and even the plucky hospital administrator, Margaret Murphy (McNally Sagal). I...

Even on the lam, Gemma (Katey Sagal) is still one cunning woman you don’t want to mess with. And, her protégé tough-as-nails Tara (Maggie Siff) isn’t that far off. Sons of Anarchy continued its adrenaline filled third season with Episode 2, “Oiled.” While Gemma deals with her father’s dementia, Jax (Charlie Hunnam) and Clay (Ron Perlman) are hard at work tracking down Cameron Hayes (Jamie McShane). “You trying to scare me?” Tara asks Jax. Try as he might, Tara is just one woman who ‘don’t scare so easy.’ She’s taking her position as girlfriend to the Samcro VP seriously by applying for a leave of absence from St. Thomas, while the Samcro continues the search for Abel. Surprisingly, St. Thomas’ chief administrator Margaret Murphy (McNally Sagal) would rather have Tara on staff; despite the facial bruise Tara dealt her in Season 2. Although we have yet to...

By Susan Granger - Jackie Chan is looking for a piece of the lucrative family market with this lame-brained comedy. He plays Bob Ho, a mild-mannered pen importer who moonlights as an undercover CIA agent. He.s just the kind of .honest. guy that his suburban single-mom neighbor Gillian (supermodel Amber Valleta) really wants in her life, but her three kids find him dull as dishwater.
So when Gilliam must leave town to care for a sick relative, boring Bob offers to watch over of her sullen, sarcastic teenage daughter Farren (Madeline Carroll), nerdy technophile son Ian (Will Shandley) and adorable four year-old Nora (Alina Foley) who loves to dress like a Princess, leaving the spy chores to his CIA colleagues (George Lopez, Billy Ray Cyrus) in the Albuquerque office.
Predictably, Bob proves to be totally incompetent around the house. But when Ian accidentally intercepts and downloads on his iPod...
