excellence in television programming through its Emmy Awards and the
Television Hall of Fame.
Graduated with a journalism degree from the University of
Georgia.
Became personal assistant to director Jonathan Demme on Melvin and
Howard.
Contributed to McGill's Survey of Cinema, a major reference work on
feature films.
Interviewed directors Walter Hill, Mark Rydell, and Peter Bogdonovich
for publication in newsletters.
Began solo editing career with 976-EVIL, directing debut of Robert
("Freddie Kruger")Englund.
Edited two documentaries about animators, The Hand Behind the Mouse and
The Pixar Story for director Lesie Iwerks, granddaughter of pioneer
animator Ub Iwerks.
With close friend independent producer Larry Estes (Smoke Signals),
Stephen programmed feature films on campus when they were both students
at the University of Georgia.
