The cast of Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four is growing by the day! After announcing the additions of John Malkovich, Julia Garner, Paul Walter Hauser, and Ralph Ineson, Deadline says Poker Face and Russian Doll star Natasha Lyonne is joining the latest iteration of Marvel’s first family. Fantastic Four stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm-Richards, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm. There is no indication if the Richards’ children, Valeria and Franklin, will appear in the film. The addition of Natasha Lyonne is already sending Fantastic Four fans into a tizzy with theories about who she could play in the film.
WandaVision director Matt Shakman is directing Fantastic Four from a script by Ric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer. Plot details are sparse, though we know Julia Garner is playing Shalla-Bal, a version of Silver Surfer from the comics.

Natasha Lyonne is a comedy genius and acting god with a successful career that spans more than two decades. One of Lyonne’s most recent works, as both the lead role and as an executive producer, came on the set of the Netflix comedy-drama Russian Doll. Uniquely, the series was created by an all-female writing team. Here’s a look at why Lyonne says working with an all-female team helps avoid a lot of “dumb” questions.
A look at Lyonne’s recent roles on ‘Russian Doll’ and ‘Poker Face’
At 44-years-old, Lyonne has had an acting career more successful than most. While she is widely recognized for portraying Nicky Nichols on the Netflix comedy-drama series Orange Is the New Black from 2013 to 2019, she actually made her acting debut back in 1986 with a small appearance in the film Heartburn. After starting her career in the late 1980s, she began to really...

You’ll have to forgive Natasha Lyonne if she’s irritable today. She just quit smoking, which is no small feat for someone who’s so synonymous with the habit that there’s an Instagram account dedicated to the coolness of her taking a drag.
“I’ve been putting it off for so long,” she tells me, pointing to the small Nicorette pack on the coffee table in her East Village apartment. “I’m naturally wired for self-destructive crutches. I fucking love a vice.”
Though she admits there are “immense” consequences of raging nicotine withdrawal, the health benefits far outweigh the discomfort.
“It might be a symptom of being in a pretty decent place,” she offers of her reason for quitting. “In a way, I want to meet that artistically and emotionally. I want to return the favor and say, ‘Ok, maybe I’ll sign up for life for a little bit longer.

Did you know Natasha Lyonne turned down “American Pie” not once but several times? The actress finally revealed the reason on “The Drew Barrymore Show.”
Before deciding to accept the invitation, Lyonne disclosed that she had been invited to join the cast of “American Pie” multiple times. She revealed that she wasn’t exactly able to relate to the film’s pupils’ goal to become virgins, though. She informed Barrymore that “it already happened” for her.

“I think I just sort of saw it on paper and I didn’t identify with this sort of like, very white, very normal high school experience. Kinda like, ‘Oh! We’re gonna lose our virginity!’ I was like, ‘Honey, it already happened,’” Lyonne told on the show. “I just don’t think I understood the movie.

Talk to anyone involved with Peacock detective series Poker Face long enough and they’ll eventually, invariably invoke the name of one of television’s most iconic characters: Columbo.
Los Angeles Police Department homicide detective Lieutenant Columbo (first name unknown but probably Frank) first appeared in the 1968 pilot episode of what would become the beloved long-running gumshoe series bearing his name. As portrayed by veteran actor Peter Falk, Columbo continued the Sherlock Holmes tradition of intensely idiosyncratic problem-solvers. Unapologetically blue collar with his wrinkly beige raincoat and perpetually-lit cigar, the detective would drop into crime scenes like an unassuming transient. Then he would lull murderers into a false sense of security with his benign presence only to then lay down the hammer with a well-placed “just one more thing … ” and ask the question that will close the case for good.
Structurally, Columbo was refreshingly revelatory for its medium. The series...

Two decades before her turn as the gruff-voiced, sardonic Nadia on the existential dramedy “Russian Doll,” a teenage Natasha Lyonne played DJ, the
chirpy narrator in Woody Allen’s 1996 whimsical romantic-comedy musical “Everyone Says I Love You.” Lyonne’s name first appeared in Variety on Dec. 2, 1996, in a review of the Allen film.
In the next few years she went on to star in a number of raunchy teen comedies, including “American Pie,” “But I’m a Cheerleader” and “Scary Movie 2.”
She recently wrapped up her role as Nicky Nichols (aka Junkie Philosopher) on the final season of “Orange Is the New Black.”
“Russian Doll,” which she stars in and co-created alongside Amy Poehler and Leslye Headland, has 13 Emmy nominations and is set for a second season.

Russian Doll actress and co-creator Natasha Lyonne stopped by The Daily Show to reflect on the Netflix series' success and what attracts her to projects with major philosophical themes.
Host Trevor Noah congratulated Lyonne on her three Emmy nominations plus the ironically lucky 13 nods the series gained as well. “I learned on ‘Orange Is the New Black’ that there was something about having a uniform and being able to really move,” says three-time Emmy nominee Natasha Lyonne. Her character Nadia in “Russian Doll” — the dark Netflix comedy she co-created — shares her affinity for dark, comfortable clothes with a genderless quality. “I wanted to make sure I wasn’t encumbered by things that would traditionally slow a woman down.”

1. “Orange Is the New Black” Season 7 (available July 26)
Why Should I Watch? Well, Season 7 marks the end of “Orange Is the New Black,” which either makes for a compelling argument to get caught up or a reasonable rationale to avoid it altogether. Speaking to the first point, Jenji Kohan’s landmark Netflix original has helped usher in a more diversified TV space, draw attention to a problematic prison system, and provide truckloads of Emmys to the very worthy Uzo Aduba. Toss in the fact it helped elevate more than a few key voices set to shape television’s future, including Stephen Falk (“You’re the Worst”) and S.J. Clarkson (who’s helming the upcoming “Game of Thrones” spinoff), and it’s been a significant series since it debuted in mid-2013. But it’s also a long series. Each season consists of 13 hour-long episodes, and the most recent entries have highlighted Netflix’s bloating problems.

Russian Doll star Natasha Lyonne's career has been skyrocketing ever since she stepped into the orange jumpsuit of Nicky Nichols on Netflix's Orange Is the New Black. But the actress, who has been open about her struggles with addiction, took herself out of the spotlight for a number of years to recover.

Natasha Lyonne would be the first to cheerily acknowledge that she was on a real downswing for awhile. "When I first re-emerged, I was embarrassed to walk down the street. People would come up and say, 'I heard you were dead!'" she told Out in 2013. "But I had to remind myself that a lot of the stuff I went through was pretty brutal. I'm definitely thankful that some of the rough patches are behind me." At the time she had just started playing a locked-up drug dealer in Orange Is the New Black. The character of Nicky Nichols was, much like Lyonne—and much like almost all of Lyonne's characters over the course of her 20-plus-year career—blunt and...

Natasha Lyonne has been a star since she was a teenager, from her roles in “Slums of Beverly Hills” (1998), “American Pie” (1999) and “But I’m a Cheerleader” (1999) to her recent turn as prison inmate Nicky Nichols in “Orange is the New Black.” But she outdoes herself in her new Netflix series “Russian Doll,” which starts with a high-concept premise and then spirals out into new, bizarre, absurd and often moving directions. And she’s not only the star of the show, she’s also a co-creator, writer, director and producer.

Natasha Lyonne may have been in the spotlight for more than 30 years, but the lack of diversity and inclusion within the creative sphere still baffles her.

Lyonne has become a Lgbtq icon over the years, for roles in the cult classic “But I’m a Cheerleader” (which she recalled being controversial when it was first released — and surprised at the fact that it is still often being talked about in the same manner as it was then) and her seven-season stint as Nicky Nichols on Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black.”

The new Netflix series Russian Doll is the latest in the streaming giant's comedy arsenal. Following a woman who finds herself stuck reliving her 36th birthday party over and over - and dying at the end of every night - the series already has people buzzing. It turns out, though, that it shares quite a bit in common with its fellow Netflix comedy Orange Is the New Black: namely, several cast members!
Russian Doll stars Natasha Lyonne, aka Orange Is the New Black's snarky, sometimes seductive, sometimes romantic Nicky Nichols. Lyonne is a supporting cast member no more: not only does she star as Russian Doll's intrepid protagonist Nadia Vulvokov, but she also created the show herself. It's a new horizon for Lyonne, but it's always so much easier to blaze a new path when you're already surrounded by familiar and friendly faces. That's just what Lyonne has done with her cast,...

Netflix's Russian Doll is the Natasha Lyonne showcase long in the waiting...and an interesting little sci-fi yarn to boot.
Russian Doll co-creator and star Natasha Lyonne has been working as an actor since the age of six when she appeared Pee-Wee’s Playhouse. At age 16 she appeared in Woody Allen’s Everyone Says I Love You. She’s been a part of the American Pie, Scary Movie, and Blade franchises before finally popping up in her now most famous role as Nicky Nichols on Orange is the New Black.
Still for as long as Lyonne has been working, it’s taken a minute to get to this point - where her name and face is displayed prominently over the marketing material for her very own show. In fact, the splash page for Netflix’s Russian Doll currently features Lyonne’s visage no fewer than seven times (though that...

Warning: Big spoilers for Orange Is the New Black season six below!
Season six of Orange Is the New Black ties up some lose ends but still leaves us with plenty of questions. Now that Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) has been released from Litchfield, my first thought when the credits rolled on the final episode was, "so, no more Piper?" The series could potentially move on without its leading lady (though she's become less and less important as more characters have taken the spotlight), but we suspect that we won't have to deal with that void. Here are ways that we could see Piper again.
She will visit her fiancée.
When Piper finds out that she is being released from Litchfield just the day before it happens, she can't get a smile on her face because that means she will be away from her fiancée, Alex Vause (Laura Prepon). The...

The stars of Orange Is the New Black have been in prison as their characters for five seasons with at least two more to go since the show has been renewed through season seven. After dropping out for close to a decade, Natasha Lyonne is finally at peace with her past. Now the Orange is the New Black star teams up with best friend Chloë Sevigny in the new horror shocker
If you’re going to watch anyone stumbling around a dump of a trailer while in the throes of a pus-oozing freak alien pregnancy, let it be Natasha Lyonne. In body-horror movie Antibirth, Lyonne is Lou, a wisecracking wastoid in ripped-up fishnets and shorts, living in her dead dad’s trailer, with Chloë Sevigny as her hard-partying sidekick. What’s wrong with her is unclear. Is she the subject of a government conspiracy, the victim of a blackmarket opioid gone wrong or simply the uterine host for a full-blown alien takeover? Who knows, in this big, trippy mess of a movie. But Lyonne, belly grossly distended with alien progeny ... well, she carries it.

Pregnancy can be challenging and scary for any young woman, but it’s even more frightening when you don’t know how you got pregnant. In the new body-horror comedy “Antibirth,” hard-partying stoner Lou (Natasha Lyonne) wakes up one morning to discover that she’s pregnant despite not having sex in over a year. Living in a small Michigan town, Lou and her best friend Sadie (Chloë Sevigny) try to discover how this could happen in a drug-addled haze, but when a mysterious stranger (Meg Tilly) raises the possibility of something otherworldly, it throws everyone for a loop. Suddenly, Lou starts to lose a grip on reality as the person (or thing) growing inside her begins to distort her mind. Watch the trailer below, courtesy of EW.

[Warning: This story contains spoilers from the first eight episodes of Orange Is the New Black season four.] After nearly an entire season without her, Orange Is the New Black brought a fan favorite back in a big way during its newly released fourth season. After disappearing from the Netflix prison dramedy during the beginning of season three, Nicky Nichols (Natasha Lyonne) returned in the fourth episode — a storyline that was kept under lock and key by everyone involved with the Jenji Kohan prison dramedy. "This is a real high-stakes Jon Snow situation I’m in: This whole year, I cannot

Can it possibly have been a whole year since we last shacked up in Litchfield Penitentiary, with its mattress-less bunks, garden shed full of secrets and Piper's panties-making empire? If you're like us, there's a good chance that you gulped down Season Three of Orange Is the New Black faster than you can say "Admiral Rodcocker." To say that Jenji Kohan's addictive prison comedy/drama is highly bingeable is a huge understatement; but the downside is that 12 months down the line, we're left with a hooch hangover and a...

Yes, that's really Nicky Nichols front and center in the pic above. "Orange Is the New Black" star Natasha Lyonne was flanked on the red carpet on Wednesday night by costars Yael Stone (Lorna, left) and Lea DeLaria (Big Boo, right) at the premiere of her new film, "Addicted to Fresno." All three women looked completely different than their imprisoned alter-egos, shining with some fresh faces, stylish clothes and big smiles. See more of the cast's wild transformations in the gallery above! While Lyonne still had her infamous mane, it looked cleaner and shinier than it appears on "Oitnb," where Natasha plays a recovering drug addict. For Stone, her red carpet look was definitely toned down in comparison with the red lip-lovin' Lorna ... while DeLaria looked comfortable in her denim, blazer and a polo. Fans of the Netflix series were left wondering what happened to Natasha's character after the events...

Orange Is the New Black season three was almost perfect...except for the fact that Nicky Nichols (Natasha Lyonne) was sent down the road to maximum security after getting blamed for heroin getting into Litchfield. After the first three episodes, fans didn't see her at all (sob!), leaving us all to wonder if she'd ever return to the show. During Orange Is the New Black's 2015 Summer TCA press tour panel, Lyonne fielded questions about her fate in season four like a pro, refusing to give any spoilers away to the room of reporters who wouldn't stop trying to get any hints about her future. "I feel a great deal of solidarity with the cast of Game of Thrones," she joked. When E! News caught up with...

Going to the "max" isn't always a good thing, despite what your extreme sports-lovin' friend may say. Just ask Orange Is the New Black's Natasha Lyonne. Lyonne, who has played inmate Nicky Nichols on the Netflix dramedy, has left the cast as a series regular...if opening credits are to believed. The But I'm a Cheerleader star appeared in the opening credits for episodes one-three of the new season, but after her character—Spoiler Alert—was sent to the maximum security facility after hiding drugs in the electrical office in episode three, her name was removed in subsequent episodes. Sending Nicky to max devastated fans and characters including Red (Kate Mulgrew) and Morello (Yael...

Being an inmate at Litchfield Penitentiary has never looked so Hot! "Orange Is the New Black" stars Taylor Schilling and Laura Prepon show some serious skin in the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine. Taylor swaps her orange jumpsuit for a semi-sheer white tank, which she wears without a bra, as her on-screen girlfriend rocks a denim button-down shirt with nothing underneath. In the accompanying article, Schilling and Prepon join costars Laverne Cox, Uzo Aduba, Natasha Lyonne, Dascha Polanco, Selenis Leyva as well as show creator, Jenji Kohan to talk about the success of the series. The famous TV inmates open up about landing their life-changing roles on the uber-popular Netflix show, after struggling to find other work. "We're all grateful for this opportunity to be on a show that's not about how skinny or young you are," Leyva, who plays Gloria Mendoza on the series, explains. "We know what...

As gripping as it is funny, Orange Is the New Black has become one of the most forward-thinking and revolutionary shows on television in just two years' time. The 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominations were revealed Wednesday morning, serving as yet another precursor on the long road to the Oscars.
In the film categories, Birdman was the big winner, scoring four nominations, including for Michael Keaton, Edward Norton and Emma Stone, as well as the collective ensemble cast. Boyhood followed right in its footsteps with three nods for Ethan Hawke, Patricia Arquette and another ensemble nomination.
The big surprises of the morning’s nominations started with Jake Gyllenhaal for Nightcrawler, a bubble contender in a crowded Best Actor race, Jennifer Aniston for Cake, a bubble contender in a disappointingly less crowded Best Actress race, Robert Duvall in the poorly reviewed The Judge and Naomi Watts for St. Vincent (Watts was in Birdman as well, but that must’ve slipped SAG’s minds).

As some of you may know, I'm a bit of a jack(ass) of all trades. I follow the film industry for Lr, and critique films. But I'm also an actor, I front a rock band, I'm a DJ, film editor, and director as well. Basically, when it comes to entertainment, there's nothing I don't do. For some time now, I've been mulling over bringing some of my other interests to Lr, and I'll be starting with the SAG Awards. How? Well, I've been a member of SAG for 6 years now and I also am part of the voting process. That means every year I am sent screeners of all the films being considered for awards.
Here's where a new running feature comes into play:
As I start receiving these screeners, I will write special reviews for each one and publish them here. Then, as we near the voting deadline,...

Before we hit the Emmy Awards one last group poll. I asked friends which Emmy nominated TV characters mix and matched from different series would they love to see paired up?
True Sherlock: His Last Vow
Michael: I would mash up Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock with McConaughey's Rust. Sherlock would've knocked out that Yellow King business out in 20 minutes leaving the rest of the season for them to get drunk and philosophize.
Denny: Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons on The Big Bang Theory) and Crazy Eyes (Uzo Aduba on Orange is the New Black) are served a pie. Hilarity ensues. Or: Queen Cersei (Lena Headey) gets sent to Litchfield prison and insults Red's (Kate Mulgrew) cooking on her first day. Delicious scheming and sassy put-downs ensue. And I really want to see Allison Janney and Julie Bowen's characters from Mom and Modern Family get drinks together, just because.
