On the 8th of December, ITV Hub is being replaced by ITV’s brand-new streaming service, Itvx. Yes, this might seem like the latest in a long line of rebrands that don’t appear to change anything concrete but Itvx will host new and exclusive programmes.
Like ITV Hub currently, you’ll also be able to watch the ITV channels live on Itvx – although let’s hope the new service has ironed out the live-streaming problems that frustrated so many football fans during last year’s Euros.
Itvx: Free and Paid For Options (Including BritBox)
Itvx will have over 10,000 hours of content to stream for free, including past and present ITV dramas and documentaries, some US series, and hundreds of films (including the Back to the Future trilogy).
There’s also a paid subscription option which removes adverts and also includes BritBox – the boxset streaming service which ITV formerly collaborated...

Warning: contains spoilers for Luther Series 5.
There are many things that set Luther apart from the plethora of UK prime-time detective shows, but two things, in particular, stand out: shock value, and its willingness to embrace proper horror.
While Luther’s series arcs—his run-ins with other police departments, his bitter feud with gangster George Cornelius (Patrick Malahide), and his twisted relationship with nemesis Alice (Ruth Wilson), to name a few—offer a deep dive into the character and psyche of Idris Elba’s antiheroic cop, it’s the killer-of-the-week plots that really up the fear factor.
Take series two’s Cameron Pell (Lee Ingleby), for example: a sadistic art student turned serial killer who wears a Mr Punch puppet mask and terrorises the streets of London with his trusty machete in the vein of notorious Victorian bogeyman, Spring-Heeled Jack. Or series three baddie Paul Ellis (Kevin Fuller), a fetishistic...

Philip Quast and Hermione Norris in ‘Between Two Worlds’.
After creating five of Australia’s most popular dramas – Always Greener, All Saints, Packed to the Rafters, Winners & Losers and A Place to Call Home – in a stellar 37-year career, Bevan Lee felt he had reached a crossroad.
If he followed one path, he would simply rest on his laurels and be content with his legacy. The other, far more attractive and challenging option: Create a drama unlike anything he’d ever done and which breaks the traditional rules of the genre.
Hence was born Between Two Worlds, a 10-part Seven Studios production which premieres on Seven on Sunday.
The first episode depicts two disparate and seemingly disconnected worlds, typified by one family of extreme wealth and privilege, the other middleclass and suburban.

[Editor’s note: The following post contains spoilers for all five seasons of “Luther.“]
For fans of BBC America’s “Luther,” after waiting five long years for the fifth (and likely final) season, it might be somewhat anticlimactic that the entire experience ends in just four roughly hour-long episodes, although it’s a season that comes packed with a wallop. Star Idris Elba has called this season “‘classic’ Luther,” and it very much is. It’s a celebration of what’s come before with deliberate connections to the very first season – although each is more of an emotional one than directly narrative – as the title character is forced to reconcile with the psychology and relationships that defined the series’ inaugural, definitive season.
Season 5 picks up where the last episode of season 4 left off, with the aftermath of Benny Silver’s (Michael Smiley) devastating death. Serial killer Jeremy Lake (Enzo Cilenti) is on the loose, on a murderous spree after his and Dr. Vivien Lake...

Seven Studios has promoted Therese Hegarty to CEO and hired former Nine Network executive Andrew Backwell as director of production, responsible for non-scripted content.
As part of the reshuffle head of content sales Richard Henson moves up to director of content sales.
Formerly director, content distribution and rights, Hegarty’s promotion is a reward for the production division’s expansion, this year delivering the seventh consecutive growth in earnings before interest and tax.
Australia’s largest producer of long form premium content, Seven Studios last year produced more than 1,000 hours of content all genres, with 14 new commissions and more than 20 hit series returning or in production.
In the second half of last year, the division’s revenues from third-party sales jumped by 20 per cent to $45.7 million.
In March Seven launched non-scripted unit Seven Studios UK, strengthening its presence in that market and complementing its investment in London-based scripted specialists Slim Film + Television.

Megan Hajjar in ‘M4M’
Since graduating from Waapa in 2016 Megan Hajjar has built an impressive resume with roles in Breath, Love Child, The Secret Daughter, Harrow and the upcoming movies M4M and The Naked Wanderer.
You may not recognise the name because, until recently, she was known as Megan Smart. The actor has decided to use Hajjar, her mother’s maiden name, to more closely identify with her Lebanese heritage.
“I wasn’t being considered for some Middle Eastern roles because the producers did not recognise my heritage,” she tells If.
While she does play a Lebanese woman in Paul Ireland’s M4M, she mostly portrays characters whose nationality is incidental. For example, she had fun playing a serial killer named Charlotte in the ABC/Hoodlum Entertainment’s Harrow and troublemaker Anna Hennessy in Screentime/Seven’s The Secret Daughter.

Idris Elba returned to his iconic role as the titular detective in BBC One crime drama Luther on Tuesday night. The kick-off of the next chapter in the Neil Cross created show averaged 5.6M viewers in the overnights, peaking at 5.9M, and was the most-watched program of New Year’s Day in the UK. Luther will air on BBC America in the U.S., though a date has not yet been announced.
The multi Emmy-nominated series, which is produced by BBC Studios, also stars Dermot Crowley, Michael Smiley and Patrick Malahide. We’ve all waited patiently for almost four years for Idris Elba’s troubled and brooding Dci John ‘Luther’ to return to our screens. The wait is almost over with season 5 airing on New Year’s Day and in good old Luther fashion, we are in for one dark ride that may just put you off from ever riding the night bus home ever again.

A movie version of crime series “Luther” is moving forward, with writer-creator Neil Cross working on the script, the show’s star Idris Elba confirmed at the launch of Season 5 in London.
“We are really advancing on getting a movie version [of the show] up on the screen,” Elba said. “Neil is beavering away on writing this thing, and I think the remit for the film is to scale it up.”
Elba added: “‘Luther’ has all the ingredients to echo those classic [neo-noir] films of the 90s like ‘Seven’ and ‘Along Came a Spider,’ and I think what we would like to do is use that blueprint to create ‘Luther’ the film.”
He continued: “It will be more murder, more Volvos, more frowning Luther… essentially we just want to try to take it to a much bigger audience and scale, and perhaps international as well.”
Asked where else the show could travel to, beyond its native London,...

Alright Anglophiles, welcome to Day 2 of our investigation of streaming services for the lovers of foreign television.
From the opening and the title of the service, you can probably tell BritBox is exactly what it says it is -- TV for those who dig all things British.
Well, not all things. Things brought to you directly from two British networks, BBC and ITV. It's a decent offering unless you happen to love Channel 4. That's for another time!
What sets BritBox apart from other services are its comedies and soap operas.
It's the only streamer to offer Coronation Street, Eastenders, Emmerdale, Casualty and Holby City (my favorite!).
However, they only offer current seasons of each, so if it's your hope to start somewhere in the archives of these shows or catch up on previous series (as they call seasons across the pond) you'll have to find another way to do it.

Sundance Channel’s first original scripted series, “Rectify,” told the story of a man released from prison after serving 20 years for a wrongful conviction. The show received universal critical acclaim for all four seasons, and announced the nascent network as a player force for powerful original scripted television. Two years since the show’s final season, its sister network Sundance Now is launching “Innocent,” a limited series about a man released from prison after he is exonerated for a murder, also with a one-word title.
Per the official synopsis: “‘Innocent’ follows David Collins as he returns home after seven years imprisoned for the murder of his wife. When the initial judgement is overturned due to a technicality, Collins is left a free man and soon finds himself facing a new investigation that unveils dark secrets of abuse, affairs and money troubles. As a web of lies unmasks new potential suspects,...

Idris Elba will return in as his embattled TV detective for Luther Season 5 in 2019.
Luther Season 5 coming soon. Despite a schedule filled with high-profile projects, international superstar Idris Elba will field another season, dwelling in shades of grey as the eponymous, emotionally tortured London homicide detective Dci John Luther, in the moody, gritty television series.
The latest season of Luther will manifest as a 4-part limited series that's bound for BBC and BBC America. Series creator Neil Cross, also known for his run on BBC’s Mi-5 and NBC’s short-lived Crossbones, is back in the bullpen for Luther’s latest run. The return of Luther is exciting news, especially after Elba’s rising stock was seemingly the cause of an abbreviated 2-part Season 4 in December of 2015; an offering that ended on a rather curious note.

James Nesbitt, Robert Bathurst, Hermione Norris, John Thomson, and Fay Ripley will return for more episodes of Cold Feet next year…
Here’s an unexpected one. ITV is bringing back its BAFTA-winning Cold Feet. New episodes will go into production in January 2016.
Series creator Mike Bullen has conceived the new episodes, and will write and executive produce for the new series. Stars James Nesbitt, Robert Bathurst, Hermione Norris, John Thomson, and Fay Ripley are all reuniting on the screen.
Here’s a synopsis, from the official press bumf:
“It’s been 13 years since Rachel’s untimely death. How has Adam coped without his soulmate, raising their son on his own? Do Pete and Jenny still spend their evenings on the sofa, except now they watch Endeavour instead of Morse? And what of David and Karen? They’d split up, but with three children between them, are the ties that bind still strong?...

ITV drama Cold Feet premiered in 1997 and ran for 34 episodes over the course of five seasons. While Cold Feet was not cancelled, it ended its first run in March, 2003. Now, star Fay Ripley spills the beans: ITV is bringing back the Manchester-set show with its original cast, in 2016.

The rumours weren't greatly exaggerated - Cold Feet will return to our screens in 2016.
Fay Ripley has confirmed a new series of the ITV comedy-drama, which followed the lives of three couples going through the highs and lows of romance and friendship.
Cold Feet: Where are the cast of ITV's hit series now?
"I think we're off and away, I think we can say that," Ripley told The Mirror. "My only hesitation is that one hopes it's not going to be rubbish."
Back in August, rumours increased about a potential return for the show as stars James Nesbitt, Hermione Norris and John Thomson were thought to be in talks.
Ripley admits to having no idea where the new series will find the characters, but joked that she hopes it hasn't been written that her character has "got very thin".
"Ten years have passed, anything could have happened," she explained.

Is ITV really going to bring back Cold Feet?
That's the rumour, with the broadcaster apparently looking to plug the Downton-shaped hole in its schedule with a revival of the popular comedy-drama.
If it's true, they'll have a job bringing the cast back together - some have gone on to be huge telly and film stars, while others have stepped out of the spotlight entirely...
James Nesbitt
Nesbitt's carefree lothario Adam Williams met his match in Helen Baxendale's Rachel - the couple overcame infidelity and infertility but were denied lasting happiness when Rachel was killed in a traffic accident.
Since Cold Feet wrapped, Nesbitt has become one of British television's most in-demand leading men.
He fronted BBC One's gritty cop series Murphy's Law from 2003-07, led Steven Moffat's supernatural thriller Jekyll - also in 2007 - and played the title character in ITV's short-lived medical drama Monroe (2011-12).

It's been more than 10 years since Cold Feet left our screens, but ITV could be about to revive the show for a new series.
The cast of the hit comedy drama, including James Nesbitt, Hermione Norris and John Thomson, are all thought to be in talks with the channel about reprising their roles.
Fay Ripley and Robert Bathurst are also tipped to return should the revival be given the green light, according to The Mirror.
Rumours of a potential reunion series surfaced in July, but it is now looking ever more likely that ITV will bring the series back in its traditional Sunday night slot, filling the void that will be left when Downton Abbey concludes later this year.
However, if the show does return, fans shouldn't expect to see it on screens before autumn 2016.

Kill The Moon poses the viewers with a challenging new dilemma. A thought-provoking problem, one that could have eternal repercussions lasting beyond the next millennium.
Is the moon really an egg?
See, here was us humble humans assuming that the moon was made of cheese. Cows would jump over it in books. Benoit and Hobson would take samples for the Moonbase crew sandwiches. And then along comes Kill The Moon with its planet-busting revelation – talk about not making an omelette without breaking a few eggs. There's enough egg here to feed a hungry Mr Strong from the Mr Men books.

Despite this iffy science, Kill The Moon is actually a massive return to form for the latest series of Doctor Who. What starts out as an Hinchcliffe horror homage turns into a moral debate about the ethics of changing the future. The real sting in the tail comes at the...

On Sunday evening, the 58th BFI London Film Festival announced this year’s Festival Awards winners. Top honors went to Andrey Zvyagintsev’s “Leviathan,” Russia’s Best Foreign Language Film submission. At Cannes, the small town political drama picked up a Best Screenplay award and was considered a frontrunner for the Palme d’Or. After naming “Leviathan” with Lff’s Best Film award, Jeremy Thomas, BFI Fellow and President of the Official Competition jury said: ”We were all very engaged by the 12 films selected for Competition and really admired many of them, there were extraordinary stories and impressive images. But there was one film that we were unanimous in wanting to award Best Film, Leviathan directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev. Its grandeur and themes moved all of us in the same way.” Celine Sciamma’s Girlhood, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, was also commended by the jury. This...

Other winners include The Tribe, a documentary about Syria and Catch Me Daddy actress Sameena Jabeen Ahmed.
Andrey Zvyagintsev’s Leviathan has been crowned Best Film at the 58th BFI London Film Festival (Oct 8-19).
It saw off competition from the likes of Peter Strickland’s The Duke of Burgundy, François Ozon’s The New Girlfriend and Julius Avery’s Son of a Gun, starring Ewan McGregor (click here for full list).
Leviathan tells the tragic tale of conflict between an individual and a corrupt system in a small Russian town.
It marks the fourth feature from Zvyagintsev and is Russia’s submission for the Best Foreign-Language Oscar. The film debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in May, where many expected it to win the Palme d’Or, instead winning Best Screenplay.
It will be released in the UK by Curzon.
The award was announced at a glitzy ceremony held in London’s Banqueting Hall, Whitehall, and hosted...

It’s the classic time travel question – would you kill a dangerous killer in their crib, before they’ve actually done anything? Well, what is you weren’t sure the baby was going to do anything? What if you were asked to…
Kill The Moon
By Peter Harness
Directed by Paul Whilmshurst
Clara speaks to the entire Earth – they run the risk of the Earth being destroyed if they don’t kill an innocent being. “The man who normally helps” is nowhere to be found, and a decision must be made. Flashing backwards, we learn that Coal Hill student Courtney Woods has not reacted well to her brief run on the Tardis. The Doctor told her she “wasn’t special”, a comment she’s taken to heart. Clara asks him to apologize; he instead offers her a chance to be the first woman on the Moon.
Alas, all is not well there.

Let's get straight to it. The idea that Doctor Who is weighing in with its thoughts on abortion and a woman's right to choose is surprising, to say the least. The episode uses the realisation that there's something going on with the moon to tell a story about how it's really an egg that's about to hatch. The Doctor then leaves Clara, 15-year-old Courtney Woods (Ellis George) and the last surviving astronaut from a mission to save the moon (Hermione Norris) to decide whether the enormous creature growing inside the moon should live or die. It's rather unsubtle and a little heavy-handed - this is the abortion debate but on an oversized scale.Of course, the fact that the moon disintegrating would put the world in danger...

Doctor Who, Season 8, Episode 7, “Kill the Moon”
Written by Peter Harness
Directed by Paul Wilmshurst
Airs Saturdays at 9pm Et on BBC America
This week, on Doctor Who: The Doctor and Clara discuss respect and choice. Also, space spiders.
In “The Caretaker”, the Doctor expressed a level of ownership over Clara, demanding an explanation for her relationship with Danny. In “Kill the Moon”, any ounce of paternalism is removed, as a fun and scary adventure on the moon gives way to an exploration of choice, responsibility, and respect.
The episode starts out fairly typically, with the Doctor heading off on an adventure with Clara and Courtney (who he’s accidentally traumatized). There’s a lot to like right off the bat, with the episode switching nimbly from comedy (nice to know there’s an official Tardis anti-hanky-panky rule, though that might be a post-River addition) to suspense. Writer Peter Harness...
